Get Off The Ship - we are running out of towel animals! Update 10/25 Day 31

Dang it! The AP meal we missed must have been the animation one! I totally forgot that was one of the nights there. Oops!!! And double dang! Your appetizers look REALLY good! I LOVE the pics of the animation show. I still can’t believe I forgot this was one of the AP nights. Oh well - yet another reason to cruise on the Fantasy again. ;)

 Your stateroom host was really going ALL OUT with the towel animals. So cool!

Behind because of a long work stretch. Cool behind the scenes tour. I'm not sure if I could taste straight up tequila, but the ritas over ice sound yummy!

And that tuxedo at dinner - nice. Dinner looks like delish and it sounds like a nice relaxing day with lots of adult beverages involved. That irish bar looks really cute.

I have been so behind, but finally catching up once again.
I am loving all the food pictures...probably because I am hungry right now.
I really want to go on the Fantasy for that Animation show. It looks so fun and I know Claire would love it!

I totally understand the customs first idea. We went to London and waited nearly 90 minutes to get through.
Yum to the cookie.
The Tuxedo looks good.
The meal looked good and the animation was cool

Thanks for the updates!
One of these trips I am going to have to get on that kitchen tour. I've known about it for a while thanks to these boards, but it has been one of those things we just haven't gotten to YET!
How exciting for you that your DLP trip countdown is in the teens. I hope we can get there some day. Not only that, but you'll be, well, HERE in a couple of months!:teeth:
Teri1, our Dream cruise was originally booked as a placeholder, hoping for a reasonably priced southern Caribbean itinerary in Sept 2015. I'm waiting for the rest of the 2015 schedule to come out before we finalize out plans. Barry said to tell you and your DH hi.

Karin we took your advice and signed up for the kitchen tour and enjoyed it. Love the pics. At Animators our wait staff loved Mick's self portrait character, so his drawing was picked to dance on the screen. It made his day! I did not think to take pictures or video, but at least we saved our drawings.

Hi Karin
I am so behind with your TR but have really enjoyed catching up!
I would love to do a tour of the kitchen and must remember to ask about it when we next cruise :goodvibes
Oh you lucky thing to have a trip to DLP coming up :)

Linda, haven't you just been on a trip to WDW yourself? Then it is easy to fall behind. ;) :lmao:
The kitchen tour is really interesting - we took it twice this trip and I am trying not to forget to sign up for one during our DREAM cruise in February.
Yes, DLRP is just around the corner - I cannot believe we only have 12 more days to go. Single digits on Christmas Day! :goodvibes

What days are you at OKW? Maybe we will overlap our vacation dates. :)

We'll only be at OKW from Feb 20 - 22, but if we overlap it would be awesome to meet! :goodvibes

The dinner looked great !!Those Character's are so neat, what a wonderful idea !! Now that Lobster really has my name on it , in fact I am sure I saw Rosie's name on it !!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2:

That was really a great dinner - the food was AWESOME and the animation show was unbelieveable. We really really loved it.
Hm, I didn't see your name on the lobster ;) but it had MINE in pretty big letters. :rotfl2: To be honest, I was a bit hesitant first as we don't usually eat lobster, but we wanted to try it and it helped a lot that the servers took it out of the shell for us. Would have been a disaster otherwise. :rotfl2:

Ah, that's a shame you missed that show. It was so cute - I guess you HAVE TO take another Fantasy cruise now, so you get to see it as well. ;)

Raj, our stateroom host outdid himself! :lmao: He really came up with some fun creations (and I guess the pile of sweets we left for him twice a day helped his imagination. :rotfl2:)

I LOVE Lobster!! But I too like it when they take it out of the shell !!! Can't believe how close your trips are getting !!!!

No problem falling behind, Mary Ellen. The last few days have been pretty hectic here too.
I was so unsure about the Tequila tasting, but it was one we had not yet done so why not. Didn't like the first one at all and I guess everyone could witness it, because I cannot help but pulling a funny face. :rotfl2:
The mixed drinks (plus a bit of ice) were yummy.
The drinks at dinner are always nice! :goodvibes And the food was really nice too.
We love all the bars on board - O'Gills was fun, but we really enjoy Skyline! :goodvibes

It's the "season to fall behind", Jen. ;) I had to catch up on so many threads as well.
You really have to go on a Fantasy cruise - that is one great show! I am pretty sure Claire will love it! :thumbsup2

Customs can be a madhouse as several European airlines arrive within a 90 minute window. So the further up front in the line of YOUR plane you are the better. ;) And it will also allow us to head over to the MK, which is open until 1am that night. I have FP+ for three rides late at night - should be awesome. :goodvibes
That is one great animation show! And you get your drawing back, with a seal on it, too! We loved it much more than the overly loud Crush show. :goodvibes

The kitchen tour is fun and gives you quite a nice insight in how this galley is run. :thumbsup2
I cannot believe HOW close we are to our DLRP trip. Single digits on Christmas day! And only 8 more weeks until we are back in the US! pixiedust:

Teresa, I am glad you enjoyed it. It was so much fun for us. Were you able to "shine" with the count of the cooks? :rotfl2:
That is great to hear that they loved Mick's drawing. What a pity you didn't take a photo - guess you will have to go on the Fantasy again to get another shot to take that photo. ;)

Day 10, August 16

Back to Paradise - Part 1

There is no doubt – we LOVE Castaway Cay and so we had been looking forward to this day a lot. According to the Personal Navigator the All Ashore was at 9.45, so we decided to sleep in. We got up around 7.30, got ready and then headed to the Royal Court for breakfast.
There were quite a few people having breakfast there, but we were quickly seated and handed a menu. The assistant server brought coffee for Tom and again orange juice for me and we both declined the breakfast pastries. We didn’t take long to decide what to order.
Tom, again, ordered the

Swiss Bircher Muesli, Muesli with raisins, shredded apples and yogurt, which tasted different to previous days and yes you guessed it right, I ordered the

Mornin' Tug Boat, fresh blend of strawberries, bananas, almonds, raisin granola and low-fat yogurt, which was still sweet, but a lot looser than days before. Once we had emptied out our bowls we were served our main courses. Yes, I did have the

Traditional Eggs Benedict, Toasted English muffin with grilled Canadian bacon, served with poached egg topped with hollandaise sauce, grilled roma tomatoes and link sausages again and Tom opted for the

Three-Egg Omelet with peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms, ham or cheese. And again, once we had tipped the servers, we soon were on our way back to our stateroom, just in time to watch the Fantasy back into Castaway Cay.

We changed, got our bags ready, put on our Cabana wristbands and waited for the all ashore. The skies were still a bit overcast and we were hoping it would clear up fast.
We didn’t have to wait for too long and we were allowed to get off the ship. So we headed to the elevator, got in line and were soon signing off the ship. We walked past the post office and for the first time noticed their Air Mail letterbox.

Pretty high up I must say. We walked towards the tram, but decided against riding it, as it was pretty full and we would not have gotten on the first one.

So we walked towards the shops and once we had reached them we found a few items we “needed” to buy. Headed to the cash register and were stunned to see that the cast members had to do it by hand. As it turned out, the connection to the internet did not work, so they had to use the good old paper receipts.
And once we were done, we just walked to the next tram stop and waited for a tram to Serenity Bay. It didn’t take long for one to arrive, we hopped on and were right on our way over. When we got off our Cabana Host was already waiting and then it hit us.
We had forgotten to bring some cash to tip him. Yikes!
But we would find other ways to make it up to him. He was very nice and took us to our Cabana. Once there he went ahead and showed us around,

which is always nice to see, but since we usually have a Cabana we knew the ins and outs. He left after showing us the button to call him whenever we needed something.
We made ourselves comfortable, put all our valuables into the safe and sat on the lounge chairs to put on more sunscreen before putting on our water shoes and heading into the water. The skies hadn’t cleared up and it was still overcast, but no matter what, we were on Castaway Cay and were having fun. The water was nice and warm and as always we had to walk quite a way out to find the water deep enough to swim. Once we had swum through the “deeper” patch we found our favourite sandbank was still there. So we walked even further out and finally sat in the low water, looking back at the beach and enjoying the sun that had decided to come out in the end.

After what seemed like just a few minutes, but actually was more like an hour we decided to get back to our Cabana. We took showers, dried ourselves off and when a server walked by we flagged him down, to order some drinks.

Mmm - another Royal Court breakfast! I loved that place so much! The omelette looks especially tasty today.

Still a wee bit jealous of your adult cabana-enjoying CC style! That place is just so amazing. :lovestruc

Oooooh, you’re getting close to “our” cruise, aren’t you???? :woohoo:

Great update Karin
We are doing a double dip to CC at the end of next year. I think I am going to try for a cabana - I know that it's pretty impossible to get one but you never know your luck! :)

Having been a bit behind, let me just say this... YUM! All of your food pics always make me hungry. Such yummy things....especially the deserts. :thumbsup2

Your day in St. Thomas looked like it ended well. What a beautiful setting!

Thanks for sharing the trivia regarding the wine. I had no idea that she and her husband owned that.

Your kitchen tour looked like it was very cool!

Just so you know ..........

we are officially in the teens for our DLRP trip! :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

Day 8, August 14

There were a few other shops that we walked through and then we had a look around the liqueur store. Tom found a variety pack of rums and a few beers he had not seen anywhere else and which he wanted to try.
Biggest surprise was that they carried Silverado wines.

If you are ever in California, and you go to Napa, you can visit the Silverado Vineyards. It's a breathtaking area and you can partake in the hot springs and mud baths in Calistoga. I used to work at a summer camp in the hills between Calistoga and Santa Rosa.
