Geriatric mm warriors (12/30/09)

I'm finally home. What a crappy couple of days. They keep going back and forth on whether or not they are going to get rid of my position and talking about it right in front of me. It's crazy. The client I work for is downsizing and moving their HQ facilities from NC to GA, so many people are losing their jobs it is so sad and amongst all the chaos my job is in the conversation too. I'm going to leave it in God's hands. He always takes care of me and I know he has the plan.

I haven't had a chance to weigh myself, but I think I'm smaller!!! I'll let y'all know tomorrow. So tired...must get some sleep...Muah...love to all!!

That is so cool Cindy! About the smaller, not about the crappy days. :rotfl:

I got in smaller pants today also. I was stuck for months, so I empathize with how it feels good when things start changing.

Cindy: Keeping your job situation in my prayers. :littleangel:

I'm excited for you and Nell about being in smaller sizes! :cool1:

I look awful today! Very very swollen, like a huge pie face with no eyes, but very smooth skin, LOL! It will peel in a few days. I'm going to go out with glasses and a hat to photograph a new listing. I hope the neighbors don't get a good look at me!

Wow you all have been busy. New plans, coffee in all kinds of unmentionable places, new dates, new faces, etc.

Things are holding on here. Spring break starts on Saturday, and we aren't going anywhere. With trying to save money for our cruise this summer to Alaska, there just isn't the money laying around to head out for a week. We will be bunny sitting for friends who are going to Williamsburg for Spring Break, so I guess it will be a little different!

Not much happening with my weight, so I am trying to decide what to do to shake it up. I may go back to Step 1, or I may go back to Weight Watchers, and try to adapt it to be lower in carbs. I don't know, just a little down about all of it right now.

I hope you all have a great week!

Dear Beverly,

I might go back to Step 1 for awhile too. Kind of stuck at the moment. Maybe we should try it together for a bit and see what happens. Don't get discouraged! Remember when your husband was walking behind you???? You've made great progress.

Thanks Lisa - so stressful! It's awful to fear for your job every other month! No loss today. I feel smaller, but the scales don't agree :) Did you get a chemical peel? How does it feel? Does it hurt? I wanna try it!!!

YAY NELL!!!! So good to see you!

I had Fraxel lazer, the first of 3 a month apart. I think it's more controlled them chemcials and it stimulates new collagen under the skin. Resurfacing and restoring. I look pretty funny right now!:charac4:

I think it's good that your doing something nice for yourself Lisa. I know that the laser resurfacing is supposed to have very good results.

I special order chemical peels for myself from a reputable business. I only have to order them once a year, and I can do light peels. Keeps me looking youthful. I've decided that since I've turned 43 now that it's time to start going backwards, lol.

Today I fasted because I felt like I needed to have a strong meditation and really connect with god. I think it worked, and I'm sorting out the insight I received. But I'm going to have a very good sized chicken salad sandwich on my peppridge farm skinny wheat bread in a few minutes now. I'm actually not hungry, but I need to break the fast so that I can keep my metabolism stable.

Well, many blessings out to all of you! :grouphug: Good nite!

Ummm, Nell, enjoy that sammie! Sounds wonderful! I have to meet a client tomorrow night no matter what. I hope I don't scare the wits out of him! I really look like monkey cheeks.:rotfl:

Hi guys. Been popping in and out to see what everyone is up to, but not enough time to respond to anyone :(

Nell, so good to see you. Sorry you're having a difficult time. Be proud in the fact that you did what was right, even if it didn't turn out well. I will be saying a prayer for you

Bev, sorry you're not losing as quickly as you'd like. I am holding steady at 166, but I am also going to resume step 1 or pretty close to it. I may add smoothies into the equation. They make a perfect breakfast when I'm in a hurry. I found a great vitamin called Alive at the health food store. I comes in all sorts of ways. Tablets, caplets, liquid, powder. I did try the powder in a couple smoothies, but wasn't too happy with it. I don't think I had enough liquid in it though. So I am going to pick up a couple more packets (there are packets and then you can buy the container with the scoop in it) and try them with more liquid. It has the licorice root and nettle in it for my adrenals. Here is a link if anyone is interested:

Cindy, I'll be saying a prayer about your job. It has to stink to be left in limbo every month or so!!

Lisa, I hope your face is healing well. I would love to do a chemical peel or something to that effect. I tend to have redness under my eyes. It comes and goes. I need to up my facial cleansing and such now that it's getting warmer out. During the day I usually will just wipe my face off really well with plain water.

Ok, off to get dressed. I'll catch up later with you all. Have a great day!!

Kathy: The most important step in skin care is nighttime moisturizing. Your body (and skin) heals itself while you are sleeping. I use an anti-aging system that's based with aloe. I think it helps with redness.

Hi All, checking in quickly...only been working half days all week, as I have my best friend in the world visiting with another friend of ours...Joe and I have been friends forever and he is truly my soulmate, although he remains married to a wife of 30 plus years...long strange story...anyway he and our good friend Dave loaded up their horses and came down tuesday, so are camping with me and going out trail riding during the day while I work a few hours, then we get to hang out at night...its been SO FUN and so nice to have a sort of vacation from all my past crazy hours... :)

Lisa - sounds like you will be looking mighty "fine" in a few more days...you could always tell your clients you are temporarily in the witness protection program and wear a black veil with a jaunty cap! :rotfl:

Hi Kathy - wondered where you were! Dont know about step 1 any more, since Jorge points out the detrimental affects of too few carbs and fiber...guess maybe there is a way to get in enough fiber if you ate about 6 cups of broccoli every day! lol, seriously though, it seems like the good carbs are mostly in the beans, fruits and veggies, so Im sure a modified step 2 would work...my boss is eating low-cal, but adding a shake a day with whey protein, psyllium husk, flaxseed, chia seeds, and fruit and you can see avisible difference in her waistline in just 2 weeks...Im already heading to get the ground psyllium and whey protein, as Jorge is into that too...if two weeks shows me a decrease in waistline, I think I could incorporate that pretty easily...especially just once a day...could get it in on the drive in to work!

Bev - the stalled loss is what sent me off into the arms of Jorge! I was being so darn good for so long, and just not seeing any more than a single pound loss every week or two...doesnt seem right to give up SO MUCH crap, like white pasta, white flour, almost all bread, all sugar, etc and only lose a pound every week or two...I feel like if we are going to make drastic changes like that and try so hard to eat healthy, we should see more in rewards!!!

Cindy - praying about your job...I know folks in similar situations and it is tough to spend every day waiting for the hatchet to fall or wondering if it is going to! I hate hearing that the economy is on the rebound when I hear day after day about folks still losing jobs, companies still having layoffs...seems like its going to be awhile before that rebound trickles down to us working folks...

Nell - sincere and honest meditation with God can ONLY result in something positive! Keep your heart open to the possibilities of a new path, a fork in the road of your current path, or even just sweeping the dust off the old path...He is always there when we open our heart to Him.

Happy Friday gals!! It is dreary and cold here, but I know it's not going to last, so it's not really bothering me much, other than wanting to spend the day being lazy LOL.

I will be heading to the store today to pick up some things I need to "revamp" my low carb. I may incorporate a few fruits into it, like my apple, grapefruit, carrot and beet juice that I love to make. If I drink 8 oz of it before each meal, I feel a lot better, and I'm not hungry a few hours later.

Robin, I may have to get Jorge's book. You have me thinking now LOL. I hope you notice a difference soon.
I am glad you're having such a good time. It's nice to spend time with people that you can be yourself and just kick back.

Lisa, night time is the worst for me and washing my face. I need to make sure I do it every night. I have an anti aging "soap" I bought a while back. It's ok, but too expensive for me. I know regular soap isn't good for your face, so I may have to get some Oil of Olay. My grandma used that every night and her face was soo smooth and nice. But being 98, she did have wrinkles, LOL.

Off to get some breakfast. I'll check in later. Have a great day everyone!!

Good morning everyone. Getting ready to get busy on schoolwork and wanted to wish you all a lovely day. Will check back in later.

Lisa -- what kind of shakes do you drink? One a day?

I make a shake with almond milk (unsweetened vanilla) frozen organic mixed berries (1/2 cup) heaping T of flaxseed and a scoop of low carb protein powder. When I did Perricone, I made it with plain, nonfat yogurt, but I discovered there are a lot of natural sugars in yogurt. It works really great for an afternoon pick-me-up, but I gravitated to making it as my breakfast. I'm not big on cooked food in the am, unless it's oatmeal.

Kathy: Juicing is great for you, but it's best to used mostly vegetables (not carrots) because of the sugars in concentrated fruit. Much better to eat one piece of fruit than to juice several. JMHO.

Is everyone going to try to watch Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution tonight? I'm so pleased to see he's trying to tackle the foods in schools and childhood obesity. I'm encouraging J-P to watch so he can learn easy cooking tips from a guy who cooks quickly, simply and very healthy.

I'm going to try that one!!! I have to buy some flaxseed. What brand low carb protein powder is it whey? I want to stay away from the yogurt. Do you think there's hidden sugar in the FAGE/greek yogurt too?

Robin - I read your man's book...well what I could on B&N. I think I'm going to go buy it today!! Sounds interesting, but I haven't had meat in almost 4 weeks so I don't know if I can make a vegetarian version of it?? I may put the dairy back in I miss it.

Thank you for reminding me of the sugars in the fruit, Lisa. I absolutely LOVE pink grapefruit, and need to remind myself that even though it's a "sour" fruit, it still contains more sugars in it than I'm realizing. I don't use a whole carrot or beet in the juicing. In a 16 oz glass of juice, I use 1/2 a carrot and 1/2 a beet. I also add some ginger root to it. I am going to get my juice book out this weekend and see what I can come up with.
I have noticed that since I've been using Truvia, my stomach has been acting up. If I eat something other than salads, my stomach gets extremely nauseated. Not sure what is going on. I am going to lay off the Truvia and see if it remedies itself somewhat. Even drinking a ton of water doesn't help. Maybe my body is just rejecting no good foods LOL. I tried to eat a burger the other day (no bun) and about 1/2 hour later, almost threw up. I am going to document my meals for a week and see if I can figure it out.
Later everyone!!
