General BLT/Contemporary Transportation

Just got back from our trip staying at BLT. We normally stay at BWV and we LOVE the transportation, but with two toddlers on this trip, we decided to stay close to the MK. Has anyone else found the transportation challenging from here? We loved the short walk to the MK...loved it. But our bus transports to AK and DHS were not great at all. It took us 1 h 20 min to get back after Fantasmic on Wednesday night and we only missed one bus. Did closing time at DHS sneak up on them? Maybe I was in a bad place because I wasn't feeling well that night, but I thought that only missing one bus and being the first stop on the dropoff route was an exceedingly long time to get back. There was no traffic to wait in on the way back. Average wait time for a bus was upwards of 30 minutes. A little disappointing. Are we just really spoiled?

I agree that one of the biggest assets of CR/BLT is its GREAT proximity to the MK and, via the TTC, Epcot. But transport anywhere else leaves a lot to be desired. We waited quite a while for a bus to DTD (I talked myself into believing we had just missed one ). We've pretty much learned to do split stays so that we can more easily access the other parks and DTD. But not everyone wants to do that. It's kind of a pain because, while we could rent a car, we really enjoy a break from driving while on vacation...

During my previous stays at the Contemporary the only bus which I thought takes the longest to arrive is the one for Downtown Disney, so that's why when going there my family and I always have our own car. However when going to Hollywood Studios and the Animal Kingdom, we have never had any problems waiting for those buses to arrive.

In my experience, bus service at all the monorail resorts is very slow. I can't say if 80 minutes at Studios closing is normal or not since I don't take buses anymore, but I will say it doesn't surprise me.
