Geen Yight - She's Out of Sight: A Trip of Leaps and Bounds

When I watch the Fantasmic clips, I can be back in the huge crowd feeling the mist from the water screens and the warmth of the night, and I can remember the masses doing The Wave before the show. I love the music in this show, so hearing it again as I did that night is awesome, too.

Brooklynn's game was fun and funny. The girls were cute.

I love our own WDW videos, too. Unfocused at times, and imperfect sound capture, but it's just precious to hear DD's reactions and remember us all sharing the moment, rapt.

The first two seasons DD played soccer, we privately called it "magnetball" -- because all the kids would just follow the ball as closely as they could. They'd be clumped around the ball like metal shavings on a magnet. So cute!

Okay, too funny! What another puzzler? I can give you one. It took me a few minutes to decipher that one.

:rotfl2:

Oh, I hope you get to go this summer. Would love to see you guys again!

I think we'll at least get there for a few days. If nothing else, the weekend through July 4th. We'll plan another meet. We know we'll be at 'Ohana on the evening of the 4th. What's your plan for that night? Maybe we could meet at Poly.

Have you considered keeping kids after school? (I may have asked you that before... forgive me if I have... my memory isn't what it used to be :rolleyes1 ) If you could keep a few kids that go to your school, then you could take them home with you when you get off work, or you could have kids from another school ride the bus to your house (if it timed out right). My kids ride the bus to my house and their parents have to pick them up by 6:00. You won't get rich from it but it is an extra money maker for VERY little overhead cost and can be done from home. I usually go ahead and get my supper started and do chores and whatnot while they are here. Honestly my DD keeps them entertained most of the time. I just have to referee from time to time and give them a snack. I also keep them all day on the days that school is out and that pays a lot better. I actually make pretty decent money over the summer. Definitely enough for a Disney trip, or two! :thumbsup2 I called around to the local daycares and asked what they charged for after school care and then just priced myself a little cheaper. Never had a problem finding kids to keep that way. And I can tell you that parents LOVE having a teacher keep their kids. It makes you highly qualified! ;)

What dates are you considering now for late October? That's when we are going and I'd love to take a ride on Small World with the Memom crowd! Right now we are looking at Oct. 27- Nov. 6th, but that isn't set in stone. Some things are changing at DH's workplace (as it seems to be for everyone these days) so I haven't been able to book anything yet and it's driving me nuts! :upsidedow

I kept kids for many years - nights and weekends. It was great when the kids were little. We had plenty of outside playing equipment and inside toys, as well. My kids played with them, and I was just the overseer and referee, as you said. I would be glad to do that, but with my job situation, I don't know if I can commit to that. I do the T & Th tutoring sessions for 6-8 weeks twice a year, and that money is decent, so I don't know if I'd want to trade that for babysitting. Wednesdays we have faculty meetings, so I never know when we're leaving. If there's some issue at school, I may not be able to leave right at 3:15. I don't live near the school I teach at, so keeping those kids is not an option. I live in the next county over. There is a bus that drops off here about the time I get home on a 'normal' day, so there would be a slight possibility that I could work that out for M-T-Th-F, if I decided to, but that would leave Wed. out. I think I'd be better off going somewhere that I am not the one in charge. That way, if something happens at school, I can get that taken care of without thinking of unattended kids waiting on me. That would not work!

Plus, being with kids all day, I think I'd enjoy doing something that didn't involve kids for a few hours. I think I'd enjoy working in the tourist industry, like maybe over at Opryland Hotel checking people in. I'll have to check into something like that.

Mostly, I wish I could just live off of my one job's salary, and I could if I didn't have a Disney addiction that keeps my credit card busy. ;) I was sitting in church yesterday thinking about how I needed to just bite the bullet and say 'no Disney trips for a year', but I think I would really get depressed if I didn't have those trips to my happiest place when things get intense at school.

Our family spent a lot of time there by the Bowling Pin Pool the last time we were there. Love that place. Enjoyed all the shopping pictures and the Fantasmic videos. Also enjoyed Bella's Birthday party pics. You guys throw the cutest parties!

No parties until August. Since it's the newest movie, Brooklynn says she wants a Tangled party, but I bet every little girl will be having one of those this year. I was thinking about it yesterday, and it hit me that she might like a safari party, since she loves, loves, loves animals! :tigger: There would be so much we could do with that, too, and it would be unlike everyone else's party. She could always still do Tangled stuff when she takes her cupcakes to school. We'll do whatever she wants, but she's got a while to decide. We'll be going to a Disney Store, hopefully Easter weekend, and Disney World between now and her birthday, so she may change her mind a half dozen times. Jill said she already has some ideas, though, should she stick with the Tangled idea.

So glad you guys made it through the storms of last week okay. I think when they got here they had calmed down a bit. It hit in the middle of the night and we heard a little bit of hail and thunder, but nothing horrible. Seth slept through the whole thing, which is the main thing I was worried about!

So glad to hear Trent is home! I know you guys are really happy about it. :)

Loved the videos of Fantasmic! One of our favorites. For some reason I can only see 2 videos, though. When I click on the first 3, it plays the first video. And when I click on the last 3, it plays the video of Ariel and Eric going by. Weird! :confused3

This has absolutely nothing to do with the trip but I saw the highchair in this picture and I REALLY wish they had more highchairs like these in public places with the full back on them. Seth is in that weird stage where he's sitting up on his own, but not very good at it yet and his little back gets tired. So he's not very good in the standard highchair with barely any back on it. And he's too big for an infant carseat now so we're in the convertible carseat that doesn't come out of the car. So if he's not in a car seat or a high chair, guess where he's sitting??? In our laps! Not a huge problem but it gets old when you're trying to eat. Frustrating!!!

I didn't know they did this! What a fun job. :goodvibes

Photobucket gets crazy sometimes. The videos were playing fine, so hopefully they will get back to normal.

Do they make something that can fit inside the semi-backed high chairs that give you more stability? If not, maybe someone should invent something like that. I bet Seth will be sitting up good and strong in a short time, though.

True -I can hear my own family's reactions to things going on in the videos. I am so happy with the video feature on the camera. :)

Brooklynn didn't understand the concept of taking the ball away from someone else. She pranced around behind them for the first quarter. We told her during the break that it was okay to take the ball, that that was the way the game went. When she finally kicked the ball once, she was more into the 'groove' of what was going on. She liked being the one to throw the ball in. :cutie: It was very fun to watch. There are five girls on the team, and they play three at a time. Only one girl had ever played, since they're so young (4-5), so none of them really knew much. They had fun, and they enjoyed their snacks afterward. :thumbsup2

Fantasmic looks awesome! Can't wait til we get to see it in July....I've scheduled everything just to make sure we'll be able to see it!

You do have to add a little more strategy in these days, since it's not offered every night. ::yes:: I hope you will like the show. Have your camera ready when the boat comes out at the end. There are so many characters! :cool1:

Next morning.

IMG_0998.jpg

Time to get up, sweet girl.

IMG_0999.jpg

IMG_1000.jpg

A sweep through the gift shop before we ate breakfast.

IMG_1001.jpg

Something for the tweens and teens, I guess. I don't particularly like them, but I'm sure they do.

IMG_1002.jpg

Lots of people are becoming avid collectors of these.

IMG_1003.jpg

Food.

IMG_1004.jpg

Does Brooklynn's outfit give you a hint as to where we are headed? :goodvibes

IMG_1005.jpg

Brooklynn wanted 'jelly bread' for breakfast.

IMG_1007.jpg

This was an exciting day for all of us. We love Animal Kingdom! :cool1:

IMG_1008.jpg

Trent and Tanya took the day off to be able to go and spend the whole day with us. Brooklynn loves animals, so she loves AK. Jill loves AK. I love AK. We hope Bella will love AK, too. We don't understand people who consider this a half-day park, but honestly, I am glad that they go on, because it makes it less crowded for us. :thumbsup2

Look at the littlest sassy girl ready for some AK fun.

IMG_1010.jpg

It was an EMH morning.

IMG_1011.jpg

First stop, as usual, Kilimanjaro Safari.

IMG_1016.jpg

I took video and Jill took pictures, so when we get those loaded, we'll show you the trip itself. Even though we usually get good animal activity early in the morning, this one ranked pretty low. As a matter of fact, I would say it was probably the least good safari we have ever had. The animals either weren't out yet, weren't roaming, or just weren't in our sight, for the most part. No mandrill waving, no lion roaring, no rhino crossing our path, no giraffes coming right up to the jeep. That's okay, though, we've had good trips and great ones, and we know we will again in the future. :thumbsup2

Brooklynn just eats this place up. She loves all the animals, and when she and I go by ourselves on of these days, I have a feeling we'll be spending much time in the park going at a very slow pace and just taking it all in.

Gotta leave the animals behind for now
and get to work
to make money
to go back.
Have a good Monday, all!

I just love seeing the little ones play soccer. They are so cute. It is hard to believe my 2 boys were that little at one time. It is not as cute when they are teenagers.

Love the AK pics. I agree with you. I do not know how people say it is a half day park. They apparently do not do the treks & everything else that AK has to offer. Such a shame. But like you said it is less crowded for the rest of us.:thumbsup2

You know that telepathy we always claim we have. Well here it is at work again. Yesterday afternoon I pulled up some stuff and asked Brooklynn if she would like a safari party with lots of animals. She was very intrigued. So I think those two themes are our contenders for August.

It was certainly different from the last soccer game I ever officially watched in person, as that was Trent's last game during his senior year. Everybody has to start somewhere, though, right? :thumbsup2

Let's keep Animal Kingdom our nice little secret. ::yes::

The wheels are now officially spinning! :dance3:
What an awesome party we can have with that theme! :cool1:

They had fun, and they enjoyed their snacks afterward. :thumbsup2

Ahhhh, I remember the age where the snack after the game was just as important (if not more so) than the game itself. Fun times!! :goodvibes

I'm totally in your corner when it comes to AK! I don't get it when people say they don't like the park or can be done with it in just a few hours. There is just so much wonderful detail in that park, gotta stay and soak it all in!

We will be at Epcot that day. We are having dinner at Coral Reef. I really don't have any set schedules this time other than table service meals. We are planning to do EMH's a lot and relaxing at the pools a lot. We can figure something out.

Love the girls outfits for AK day. Too cute! :)

Was it very crowded that morning? It doensn't look like it in your pictures.

Reading about the little kids playing soccer reminds me of when Michael played t-ball when he was really little. All of them would go for the ball and there would sometimes be a pig pile in which ONE of them emerged holding the ball. Sometimes they'd clutch it to their chest with both hands so that no one else could grab it. Then they'd all trot behind the kid carrying the ball. :rotfl: So cute!

Lots of people are becoming avid collectors of these.

IMG_1003.jpg

Yup! I spy a couple of the "Cutesters" that I already have.

We sadly do not spend a whole lot of time at AK, but I really, really want to visit the trails again -- we haven't done that in so long. I am more than ready to be back, and your pictures always make me want to get up and out early, but the rest of my family doesn't usually go for that. I can't wait till we can start planning a trip!

I love Animal Kingdom too. It's such a pretty park, lots of nice photo opportunities for sure. Bummer about the safari but you are right, the next one will surely be better.

I haven't seen anything. I usually put the high chair cover over it and then just stuff blankets all around him. He'll be sitting really good sooner than I can find something, so I'm not really worried about it. One day I'm gonna make my million off inventing that and then also wipes that only come out one at a time instead of 10 at a time!!!

Yep. that's how it was for these girls. The pretty purple tie-dyed shirts, the snacks, and picking a team name were all very interesting. When asked what their team name would be, I feel sure there were more than five different answers from the five girls. The one most easily heard, though, was the Dolphins, so for that day, they were the Purple Dolphins.

Let's just not tell others how cool AK is. :cool2: I'd rather them be over in another park, anyway, when we're there. :thumbsup2

I can't recall it being crowded, but my memory may be jarred when I see more pictures.

We have two ADR's - one for Garden Grill on Sunday and the 'Ohana one. When we get a minute to decide about our schedule, we'll compare it with yours. Maybe we can come by one of the times you are just hanging out at the resort pool.

I am happy to say the girl did not fight each other for the ball. I have seen that in baseball before, though, and it is pretty funny.

I definitely thought of you when I saw those things. I gotta tell ya, I think some of them are pretty weird looking!

Early mornings are nice for getting pictures of things you want with no people in them. ::yes:: I'll be excited when you are in the planning stages again, too.

I love Animal Kingdom too. It's such a pretty park, lots of nice photo opportunities for sure. Bummer about the safari but you are right, the next one will surely be better.

We've had some awesome safaris, for sure. They can't all be awesome, though.

Animal Kingdom has so much detail in so many of the rides and queues. I could wear a camera out at that park.

Hope that million comes through for you. :goodvibes Everybody goes through that 'stuffing' stage, but Seth won't need it much longer. Before you know it, he'll be trying to stand up in that high chair!

Thanks for the updates MeMom! I wish that I had a suggestion for a part-time job that could help support your Disney habit. I wouldn't do babysitting on the weekend either. Too many kids, too many days in a row, would make me crazy! I agree that you need a break from kids for a couple of days. (in my humble opinion :rolleyes1)

You guys are TOO funny!!!

Great update MeMom! Those girls are just so cute!

Looks like we all had busy weekends. I know watching Brooklynn and her team chase that ball up and down the field was so much fun. I can't wait for Ty to start ball. He loves all kinds baseball, basketball, soccer and golf.
I remember Scott's first year of T-Ball. One minute they were all playing ball and the next minute every kid on the field was running the other way. Turns out a rabbit was spotted and that was more interesting the game. lol

Ty had his party this weekend and had wonderful time. His Mom rented one of those blow up bouncy things. It had a basketball net in it so he really liked it. I didn't do to good at taking pictures, but my DIL did so I'll have to get some of hers. My daughter Sarah offered to have the party at her house in town and she has a big fenced in backyard so it was easy to keep up with all of the little ones. We live in the "country" so this worked out really good.

They were setting up the bouncy thing and he was ready to get out to it.

First thing he did was take his shot! lol

Everyone had a great time.

I know how you feel about trying to make a few extra dollars. Since Denny drives to Memphis and back everyday the gas prices are hitting hard. I thought about putting the word out to see if anyone needed a place for their kids this summer. It's just we have a pool and I worry about that. My 3 kids are all really close in age. So, when my kids were growing up there were always kids in and out of our house. Eating, sleeping and playing only thing was I didn't get payed for it! lol It only slowed down when they started getting old enough to drive. My kids and their friends are adults now and they all still talk about how much fun they had here. :)

Have a great week!

Bella looks so cute just waking up. Does she still have her paci since she is a big girl now. My daughter had hers until she was 3. I didn't have the heart to take it from her because she was so attached. When I finally took it, it wasn't too big a deal to her. I may have been more attached than she was.

I love Animal Kingdom. And I'm realizing now that I didn't make a whole lot of plans for that park on the next trip...I'll have to fix that! And I think I want to take one of the tours there too! :) Bella really looks like Brooklyn in that picture of her in bed in the morning! Very cute! I love those wild child outfits! A safari birthday certainly sounds like fun! There is a ton of stuff you could do for that! And it would appeal to both genders too! :)

It must have been so cute to watch the little kids play soccer :cutie:

I love AK. I wish they closed later than 5 because I never get to see everything there in just a day. It's definitely not a half day park in my eyes, either.
