Funniest Ride BreakDown Stories

I have 2 stories that revolve around Space Mountain. The first one happened over 15 years ago. I was getting ready to ride the ride for the first time. Never had been on a rollercoaster before in my life. I got in line with my older brother. We went through and got inside to where you can see the tracks glowing. At that point, the ride broke down and I wasn't able to ride. It isn't funny really but at the same time I was upset about not being able to ride but relieved that I didn't have too.

The second time was just last year. My wife and I were about to get on and they had to stop the ride again. When we looked over there to see what the problem was, we noticed that the problem was Shaq was trying to ride and he couldn't get in. He was too big. I thought that was very funny. :rotfl:

Another test track story but one we will never forget - My DSD about 21 at the time was riding Test Track with my DH, my two other DSD (12 and 10). The ride was pretty new (October 2000) so the line was longggggg even at the end of October. I was patiently waiting outside with my DD (9 months at the time) for about 45 minutes when I heard them announce that the ride would be shut down indefinitely! I was upset for the kids since this was a big highlight for them. I saw them running towards me with their faces covered and thought "Oh no! They are taking it worse than I thought." Here I thought they were crying when it turned out they were laughing hysterically. Apparently, my DSD21 was trying to be cool and decided she wasn't tying her shoes during this trip. When she stepped out of the car at the end of the ride her shoe fell off and went under the tracks. They had to kill the power to the ride to get the shoe and I think you all know the rest. Yep, that's right, couldn't get the power going again. We spent the rest of the day teasing her that 10,000 people were disappointed because she was too cool to tie her shoes!
On our most recent trip to WDW my DH purchased her a t-shirt that read "Test Track Dummy". Its almost 5 years later and she still gets a good ribbing from all of us! :rotfl2:

I am new to all of this disboards stuff and I started reading and got hooked after about the 3rd one. I do have an experiance with getting stuck on a ride. We were rideing whinnie the pooh and when we got to owls house the ride stopped. We waited about an hour and after and hour of listneing to owls house fall apart is torture. The cm then came and lets us walk through the ride to the entrance. He also gave us free fast passes and showed us the hidden mickey in rabbits garden. It was a neat experiance. ::MickeyMo :cool1: ::MinnieMo

Buzz - probably just a stop for boarding help, but loved getting all the points
SM - stuck after the drop & around the bend by the waterfall, after 5 minutes they turned off the music, after 15 minutes (alot of screaming to turn off the falls) and getting totally soaked they turned off the falls.
Hall of Presidents - right after getting comfortable and before falling asleep, my 2 dd's started laughing loudly. They said George Washington started his speech and then he fell asleep also. He was standing there bent over and a CM turned on all the lights. He was not happy people were laughing and said this happens sometimes and was not funny.

These really aren't funny, but recent...

We e-stopped on Space Mountain not far from the red (re-entry) tunnel at the end. When all clear was given, a CM gave us a good, hard push and we coasted around a couple of loops, through the tunnel and on into the unload. I was certain we were going to stop short, but didn't.

Same trip, we stopped next to Brer Bear with the beehive on his head. We unloaded, walked along the attraction, through a door, down some stairs and then through a hallway that had about three inches of standing water on the floor. Popped out behind the attraction amidst lots of pipes. We were hustled out of the area and back on-stage.

These are all Hilarious. I remeber when we were on goofy barnstormer and we were just fixing to drop and it was about 90 something degres outside and we were facing right at the sun. well we were stuck on our backs for about 30 or so min. My poor bald headed dad's head was very sunburnt. We ended up haveing to walk down a ramp to get back. :earboy2: :bounce: :rotfl2:

I've been waiting in line for Space Mountain when they had technical difficulties and turned the lights on--as a few have said, its not all that impressive as far as rollercoasters go when you see it in all its glory, but I'm tall (6'-2") and I keep my head down from now on when I ride--some of those tracks come mighty close!! :earseek:

I've also been on TT when it got out of sync--we went past the road surfaces part, and two minutes later, the car started shaking like it was going over the bumps. They had to stop us before we "crashed" thru the wall to get us back to normal.

Also--this isn't really a 'breakdown' per se, but has anyone ridden TT when it was raining out? That rain feels like tiny bullets @ 70 MPH!!!! I can understand why they have to shut it down for inclement weather!

Omg, I've been stuck on soooo many rides it's hard to pick. Oh, here's one. It was one of those trips where it seemed that EVERY SINGLE RIDE had problems. Splash Mountain (underneath the vultures), Spaceship Earth (it was the part where it rotates, I thought I was gonna be sick from spinning), and Haunted Mansion (ballroom scene). We had taken a day trip to Blizzard Beach. My mom and I decided to do Teamboat Springs. Well, we finish the slide and are just floating back to the unloading area, when one raft goes underneath another. We looked at each other, like, "How can a raft ride screw up?" We still laugh about it, joking that you never know which Disney ride might break down.

I got stuck in the ballroom scene once a long time ago on the HM, that is my favorite disney memory of all time, and on sat we got stuck on the carosel of progress.

I'm having so much fun reading all of these. I haven't been stuck on any rides, yet, thank goodness.

I have and it's definetly no fun. I agree that it's good they shut down TT during bad weather.

Is there a reason they don't cover the part that goes outside?? It does rain often in Florida so it makes sense that they cover it so they don't have to shut it down so much. Am I the only one thinking this??

Just got back 2 days ago. We were on Tower of Terror and the ride stopped just before the final door to the drop sequence. An announcement started to say there was a problem with the elevator and the lights went on. We were right at an area that looked like a service elevator area. Nobody in the whole group of people had been on the ride and we weren't sure if it was part of the ride. We all kept wondering when it was going to drop. After about 2 minutes we started to realize the ride had stopped.

These didn't happen in WDW but they did happenin other Florida area parks...
The first was at Busch Gardens and my sister and I were going on a giant rollercoaster (I can't remember the name of it), and so anyways, half way up the first hiil the ride stops. We were in the last car, and after about 20 minutes sitting there we hear clump clump clump...it was someone coming up the stairs to get us. We had to get out of the car (keep in mind that we are tilted backwards), and we had to walk down the steps...and those steps have all these holes in the steel, so I just kept telling myself not to look through the holes, at the time we were pretty nervous, but at least we were the first ones out of the ride!
The other on was on the Spiderman ride in IOA. We had been on the ride before and the movie was way off...so eventually the ride stopped. We are with a friend and her three boys. So the lights came on and we had to hop off the car, and walk out..it was pretty cool to see the inside of the ride with the lights on.

Mine's not a new summer story, but maybe it'll do!

On our first trip to WDW, the year before Epcot opened, we were in the Carousel of Progress when one of those freak summer storms blew through. it got so bad that they weren't moving the rooms, we watched the last scene several times with sound, then several more without. At this time, my little brother 3ish at the time decided he could not wait to go to the restroom. So, my Dad tries to take him, but the castmember won't let them leave the building because the storm is so bad. Finally about 5 minutes later, Dad convinces him to let them leave, with the understanding that they could not come back inside.
Yup, as soon as that door closed and my brother saw what he'd have to walk through, he decided he could hold it longer...

It was just 3 years ago when we could finally brave the CoP again - and even then only if there aren't any clouds in the sky! :earboy2:

We always get stuck in Haunted Mansion going down into the cemetary. So we are always stuck "laying down." One time it was a good 25 minutes and my grandmother fell asleep-LOL We still tease her "now don't fall asleep, Gran!"

I wasn't stuck on it but this last trip, we were on TTA and when we went through Space Mountain, it was all lit up. We foudn out later it was brokedown. It is wild to see it with the lights on!

We got stuck on Buzz, I still didn't manage to get many points.

The most ironic though was when we were on HM. We had decided to ride it again since it looked like rain was coming. We nearly almost always get stopped at some point in this ride. It is usually at some dumb point where there is a head popping up at us.

I was commenting to my DH that it would be neat if we got stuck at the ballroom scene. We than proceded to stop. Wouldn't you know it, we were staring straight at a black wall, we were stuck between rooms, so all we could see was this stupid dividing wall! That's what I get for opening my big mouth.
