Funniest Ride BreakDown Stories

A few years ago when we were down for a night at the MVMCP we were there with my mother in law who was leery about rides in the first place, let alone at night and a night that was hovering in the 30's. We talked her into going onto Splash Mountain w/ us and we told her that she would'nt get much splash if she sat in the back. Well, in the jumping waters room, the jumping waters weren't jumping, instead, one of the jets was aimed directly at our heads and was not turning off, needless to say we were all soaked! Then on the big lift hill the ride stops, and we are next to go over the top, after a few minutes we didn't think anything of it until we hit the pond at the bottom, where all of the water had been piling up w/ no logs splashing water out before us the wave going over us was like going under a waterfall the hard way, not just seeing the back side of water. At this point my MIL is just about to kill me, I was glad I was in the front seat, when how could it get anyworse, but the ride stops again and we are under the little waterfall just before the last small drop into the paddlewheel room and you guessed it the log is stuck w/ my MIL right under the waterfall and we were there for 20 minutes! We watched the shadows of the christmas parade on the mountain above us as we sat there getting even more soaked. Needless to say, my MIL now will no longer believe anything I say regarding a ride experience. I can't wait for another year when I get to go again w/her and the family! :umbrella:

the second time I went to WDW was with my 2 kids and we got stuck on Thunder Mountain RR. as we were sitting there it starting raining and we had to squeeze our arms through the bars to get our ponchos...still got pretty wet but it was summer so it was ok....kids loved it!

Fortunately we haven't gotten "stuck" on a ride, but lemme tell you.. going through Splash mountain with no sound is really VERY creepy. All those llittle lifeless animatronics is not something I want to experience again! :teeth:

I know what you mean!

Not necessarily funny but...

On Haunted Mansion we have stopped in just about every section of the ride but on one trip we were stopped in the final graveyard scene when the sound was turned off(no music or creepy noises). We were right infront of the 2 or 3 ghosts(men) standing under a tree playing their horns (when they hit a high note the owl on the branch above them's head shoots up). Well it wasn't until the sound was totally turned off that I realized that real air must be blowing through the mouth of one of the ghosts because as they all kept moving with no sound his horn was the only one still blowing every time he bobbed his head and we were so close I could hear the air being pushed through the instrument ;)

The other big stop was on TOT. We made it all the way to the top to the part where your elevator begins to move forward and were positioned infront of the dark wall about to move into the elevator shaft for the big drop when all of the sudden all of the lights and sound went out :earseek: A few minutes later a CM came out with a flashlight and informed us they were having technical difficulties and he was going to escort us off of the ride so they could reset it. He opened the front and we all walked along a short track to what looks like the chicken elevator (a real elevator you stand in). We exited on the bottom floor and he took us through a backdoor to the boiler room to reboard. it was a neat experience to get to see some of the Tower with the lights on

Believe me it's worse when it's pitch black outside!

Ooh I got one!
Back in December we got stuck on Peter Pan at the part where hook is like "Help me Mister Smee" then he goes "I'm coming captain!" Well during the 20 minutes of sitting there when captain hook would go "Mister smee help me!" But before smee could say his line my dad and I would shout back "NO!"

At one of the MNSSHPs, it was only a few minutes until closing and Fantasyland was really empty. It kind of creeped us out, but my friend and I decided to jump on the closest ride... Winnie the Pooh. NOBODY else was in line, so there were only empty honey pots around us. Well whaddaya know, we got stuck in the crazy dream room. At first it was humorous, but then we really did start to get a little creeped out. And then we felt stupid because we were 23-years-old and getting creeped out by the Winnie the Pooh ride.

one time we got stuck on Buzz lightyear's space ranger spin. The ride came to a stop and barriers came up from the sides. The worst thing was they had to reset the system and I lost all my points!:lmao:

Last year, getting stuck on rides seemed to be the theme of our whole holiday!!! Here's just a few:

We were standing in line for SM, when about 10 people from the front, it went down. The lights came on and the announcements went out to remain seated. We stood in the queue and just admired the 'nakedness' of the ride and marvelled at just how close some of the those tracks are to each other. After beating off some queue-jumpers, we got on the first rocket to go once it was back up and running (a family of 3 got off while it was broken, cos Wishes was about to start, and these guys from behind us in the queue tried to take their place, but we insisted we go in their place since we were also a group of 3 and further foward in the queue than the others! ha!) But having seen the ride in the light, I distinctly remember cowering down in the seat when we finally did get on the way, and I'm only 5"1 !!!

We also got stuck twice (on the same ride) on EE - once after the first drop, just before the second one, and once just as we approached the station. That was the worst of the two, since it was outside, with no shade, at the hottest part of a hot August day! Not nice!

The worst one though has to be Maelstrom, (the troll ride in Norway, Epcot). I was at the back of the boat, and we got stuck at the top of the drop, but the boat hadn't spun around, so we were literally hanging out the window/hole in the wall! That was a pretty frightening experience, even with the lights on! We were stuck there for a good 10mins, then they switched off the lights and managed to get us moving again. So we turned, went down the drop and stopped again. The lights came back on again, and this time we were sat waiting at the bottom of the drop. I came worrying that the boat behind us was gonna come down the drop and crash into us. We were there for another 10mins or so, and by the time we got moving again (with the lights still on), we'd figured out how we would have to 'wade' out of the water-covered area on the little planks just under the waters surface!!!

Not a real breakdown. But we were just on POTC about a week ago and apparently something was a little broken because the boats kept running into each other throughout the ride. I thought I was going to be thrown out on one instance when we stopped right after going down the little hill and the boat behind comes hurling down right behind us. Yea that was fun.

I found that this happens everytime that we ride POTC, i think its just a part of the ride. :confused3

Lats trip we were on Test Track when it broke down. We stpped right in front of the Semi. Flahing lights and that loud horn, i thought my head would explode. We did end up walking off the ride, very interesting with the lights on.

shelleybell

did you notice that Lyndon Johnson is driving the truck?

I got to walk out of the Haunted Mansion last July, it looks like a garage sale with the lights on.

I hate water rides because I don't like getting wet. But sometimes I have to be nice to my other half and ride Splash with him.

They had to stop the ride and we were in the area near the jumping fountains. Well, our log was still moving slowly on the water after they stopped the ride. But since the ride was "off" the jumping fountains were not turned off and were not detecting the logs approaching them. We went through the stream of water slooooowly and got soaked. I was pretty upset. He thought it as hilarious. Now every time I ride it I flinch when we get close to the fountains.

Another time we got stuck in Pooh in the "dream sequence" room, right in front of the thing that blows smoke rings. Every few seconds "poof!" right in front of our faces.

Personally I want to get stuck on the backwards portion of the HM. For some reason, leaning back in the doom buggies makes my back feel REALLY, REALLY good (perhaps it's the shape of the vehicle against my back.) And I would love to experience that nice feeling for a few minutes instead of a few seconds. My back, unfortunately, doesn't feel the same way when going backwards on Spaceship Earth. And I've been stuck going backwards for about 15 minutes once.

I remember the first time I got stuck on ToT. We had climbed all the way to the very top as high as you can go and the ride paused. We sat there for two minutes at the top. Then while everybody was talking to one another all of a sudden we go slamming down! Let me put it this way every single person screamed!

I have been to WDW countless times and have gone on almost everything (no MS or RnR for me)...but I have NEVER gotten stuck on ANYTHING. The closest that I have ever gotten to seeing a ride stuck was on our last trip on the TTA...Space Mountain was stuck and the lights were on, but as soon as we moved into the actual ride area, it was back working.

So, long story short...is it weird to WANT to get stuck on a ride?? I feel as if I am missing out!!

We were on that little roller coaster in the Animal kingdom, primerval whirl, something like that and it stopped so we were stuck on the ride, people had to come and get us out and my fiance's sister's boyfriend had a panic attack. He is an automechanic so when he sees mechanical mess ups happen he panics. It was so bad that he was going to pass out,we had to get him something to eat and drink so that he could feel better. After that we went on Dinosaur and that stopped when we were in the middle of the ride and everything went pitch black. We all thought it was funny but he didn't.

This is probably more scarey than funny but...Last November we were riding the escalator up to the transit authority people mover ride near SPace Mountain. We had just gotten off the escalator and around the bend when we noticed that the CM was talking to a bunch of people near the "train" and no one was getting on. All of a sudden the crowd behind them got bigger and bigger and with the escalator running the people behind us had nowhere to go. They started crowding in to each other and I noticed that some small kids were getting "squished". I started to scream to the CM at the bottom of the escalator to shut the ride down but he didn't at first. The crowd all started yelling "SHUT THE RIDE DOWN"! He did eventually but everyone was pretty upset. Luckily no one was hurt. The ride never started up again while we were there that night.

We were on BTMR in DLRP in October. There were 8 of us and 4 went on the last carriage of one train and we got to ride the front of the next train. We'd done the ride and were heading back to the station when we stopped. Started slagging off our friend sat behind as she'd missed her eurostar train due to a delay on her sleeper train so we blamed her. We sat there for ages and people were starting to stop and look at us and the other 8 in our party (2 had been baysitting the 2 kids too wee for the ride) were starting to wonder where we were and one realised there was a train stuck up the hill of the mountain and they were panicking it was us. Meaniwhile we were sat just seconds away from the station when a cast member appeared and told us they would let us off and then we'd walk back and told us the others had a LONG walk back from the hill. They were still helping people down when we arrived at the exit where the rest of our group now had the video camera out and were zooming in to see if they could see us. Poor dd 7 it was her first ever ride and it broke! She can't wait for Florida.

Not so much 'funny', as annoying, but on the new Figment, we got stuck in the scene where there's nothing but song, and, after a while, it becomes as annoying as IASW, lol

Or, getting stuck/stopped on almost every ride you'd ridden in the past two days...happened to us recently, lol
