So we are WDW veterans, but we're planning our first trip to DLR for after the panama canal. For all of you DLR pros out there, what is your top 5 not to be missed places, restaurants, things to do? Thanks!

And are there things you would skip?

DH (clungstrum) made me get my own ID...something about taking over his wouldn't work :confused3

Hi Tammy, that's funny. My wife and I shared the same identity "Rancan" for a long time, and then she became worried what I might say on the thread...LOL :rolleyes1 She thought it was safer for the two of us to have separate IDs. :woohoo:

Ran Can

My poor DH groaned the other day, "You're going to bug us about Disney stuff for the next year, aren't you?"

Um yes, and then I'm going to try and make matching dresses for my dd and I!

Katherine

Love it! Yeah, we're trying to decide which is worse, putting the cruise out of our mind until closer or living with the anticipation and getting to know all of you now. You can see which won out. :goodvibes

Tammy, how long are you staying at DLR?

Just another reason for me to have my own ID ;) One of the biggest reasons is the thing you can click to take you to the last read post...I read faster and I think he was afraid he'd miss stuff if I got on his computer to check in.:rolleyes1 Ah well, now you all get to "talk" to both of us!

Welcome to our Happy Place (DL)! Don't miss Indiana Jones and Matterhorn rides, Aladdin, Fantasmic, Billy Hill & the Hillbillies shows as they either don't exist at WDW or are very different.

I'll try to find the post on the DL Boards by HydroGuy that covers the difference very well.

Randy, we're thinking of checking in Friday that we get off the Wonder and staying until Wed or Thurs.

Tammy

Wow!!! That's alot of time....You may want to do DL for two days and CA for one. That leaves a couple more days for other stuff around here!!

Thanks! I would've never thought Indiana Jones would be that different. I guess I have lots of research to do.:surfweb:

Here's a great post for WDW vets that are thinking about DL after the cruise.

Randy, I forgot to mention that we will have 2 small children with us. DD will be 2 and DS will be 3. We will be taking it slow and have nap time to deal with as well. Also, we were hoping to drive around Hollywood one afternoon or maybe do one or two other local "non-Disney" things.

Candy says....ride the Matterhorn, Indiana Jones, California Screamin and Aladdin.

We went to WDW this summer and thought TOT was better than DL, also splash mt. But DL was better with Buzz, Small World, POTC and Indiana Jones was better than Dinosaur.

Cool!!! Sounds like you already have a good plan.

Thanks Randy & Candy, I'll put those on our to do list:cool1: I don't know how we're going to wait more than a year for this vacation.:confused3
It was great chatting with you, but it's off to bed for me. Night!

So I just finished my school work for the evening and decided to catch up on posts before heading to bed. Little did I know that half of them would be from my wife. She's going to pass me in post count very quickly.

Thanks so far for the DLR suggestions, we'll take as many as we can get. I hear from friends here in Central Florida that it is a little strange walking into the park which looks so similar in many aspects, but things just don't seem to be quite in the right place. Do you think it is really possible to cover both DL and CA in just two days?

Wow! I've barely begun reading that, but I can already tell it will be a great resource. Thank you!:yay:
Your welcome! DLR is so compact you'll be able to walk between the two parks and to the on-site hotels.

That's what we thought the first time we went to the Magic Kingdom.

With small children you may need at least 3 days, 2 for Disneyland and 1 for California Adventure. We usually go for 3 or 4 nights.
