Welcome Corinna,

Would it be possible to join the champane thing and room tour while on board? I mean, will they be on the program? I so often just want to veg out that i dont know if i want to commit to them right now. I may by the time we leave, just not sure. and not sure what dh would do while i'm drinking champagne, LoL. that's not why i'm hesitating though.

we haven't signed up for excursions other than the cabo one with all you fun people.

oh a palo question: is the private room also overlooking the water and stuff? We may be interested if so but what we really wanted with Palos was the view with the food. to be honest, i have NO idea what kind of food they serve as i have liked all the dinners (we had to miss our palos brunch when they could not get into CC and switched to a sea day. so our palos would have been right then...as we were finishing breakfast! to say we are not morning people understates it, so we gave up our ressie).

warm and sunny in the DC area. Congress must be on recess because the sky is clear, blue, not full of hot air!! :rotfl: And it's a 3 day weekend for us gov't emmployees. too bad DH has such a horrible cold he just wants to sleep, but that is actually ok. gives me a day to deal more with daddy's estate, which i keep putting off.

have a good day all!

All are welcome to become a Champagne Girl and join in the fun. Not sure at this time if it will be an organized tasting or a girl session. What is your opinion? If the group votes on a DCL led tasting and Disney agrees, then we would need a firm commitment (DCL will charge your room for the tasting) sometime near cruise time. If it is an informal meeting that would not be the case. My husband always finds something to do during the few times we aren't together. On one cruise the men organized a football and beer drinking session while we girls had our fun.
Palos is on the 10th floor overlooking the stern. There are windows all along the front by the seating area. We think the food and service is very very good. We are very picky and enjoy trying the upscale restuarants here in San Francisco. However, if you are a meat and potato type of eater, and there is nothing wrong with that, the food might not thrill you. DCl calls the offerings Northern Italian fine dining. There is pasta and pizza but much more. They state cruise casual is appropriate dress, dress pants and shirt or jacket is required for men and dress or pantsuit for women. Many people dress "up" to go to Palos.
Hope this helps. Val & Bob

I think we do have an obligation to increase the Champagne Girls club membership :-)

On our cruise, we had the formal tasting session with some interesting information and it cost max $10 per person. One fun bit was that the Sommelier opened a couple of bottles using the sabrage technique.

I guess the question is, do we want to do something like that, or something more casual.

Thoughts ladies.

-Kay

I am extremely flexible and will go with whateve the majority wants.

I guess I was lucky last night after reading others comments. I was able to get what we wanted and was in bed by 12:20!
We booked the submarine in Aruba, Highlights of CR and city tours in PV and Manzanillo..Anyone else joining us?

We will be doing the Manzananillo City tour & shopping. Is that is on your list?

Hi everyone. We'll also be joining all of you on this cruise. I've been lurking on the forum for a while, but thought I'd officially say hi.

We're silver members, so we just booked excursions and Palo dinner this morning. Got most of what we wanted, except for no brunch. I'll just keep checking.

We're also joining the whale watching group in Cabo.

We're both really excited to be doing this cruise, our longest has been 7 days, so I'm looking for to all the relaxing sea days.

Now I'm off to PM folks with our details. :goodvibes

Heather (and DH Mike)

Welcome aboard. Happy to have you with us!

I am interested. DH doesn't like the offerings at Palo for brunch or high tea, so it would just be me.

-Kay

If we can get a booking for Hig Tea, I would be most happy to go with you as I know Ryan would not be interested in this.

DD18 and I just finalized plans today to sail on the Wonder through the Panama Canal. Looking forward to meeting up with our fellow DISers on the cruise. Also, looking forward to missing a couple weeks of January weather in MN! :cool1:

I have so very much reading to do! I don't know whether to try and start from the beginning and read through or start at the end and read backwards or just pick a spot and jump in. I suspect I will be spending quite a bit of time at this computer the next few months! :surfweb:
Welcome aboard and jump right in. You can never catch up on the reading. Page 1 says everyting.

Well, the migrain headache subsided; however, I have an eye infection, which causes migraines--it feels like someone has a nail in the corner of your eye! Also dry eye along with that and in turn my vision is blured. Such a delight. Thank goodness I went wth friends to the football game last night & what a game! We got home at 12:30 last night and poor Jasmine was alone from 1:30 in the afternoon as my neighbor who takes care of her was taken to the hospital for an emergency and admited. Jasmine was fine, but most happy to see me!

Here is a picture of me & Nathan with his victory smile after the game. 28-21 Brooke over Morgantown University who were undefeated.

:welcome: Corinna and Graham! Happy to have you joining our group.

Hi Corrina

Corinna - It is great to have you joining us. Looking forward to cruising with you. ValBob89

Welcome Corinna,

Thanks for all the friendly welcomes. Post vacation depression is just setting in and this gives me something to focus on.

Val, count me in on the Champagne Girls. I would prefer it to be organized by DCL as this was more than a little chaotic when we did it ourselves on the WBTA, but either way, I am up for it. I even ordered a new pink tiara yesterday so I am all set.

I went to look at our photos taken in the private room, and whilst it does appear to be n the outside, there were blinds down. So you couldn't actually see out properly, or anyone else walking round the deck couldn't see in. The blinds were very light and the whole room was bright. It was a lovely experience.

One thing to say though, if you have a personal booking for Palo, and are on a request for the private room too, then if that request is fulfilled, you automatically lose your personal booking. If someone on the private booking list doesn't turn up then they(or the group) are charged. Of course if you know beforehand then you can invite someone else to fill the place.

I enjoyed the group experience, but my husband likes it just the 2 of us!!

Can't wait to see your new tiara. Val

My Mom called this am and told me she got my birthday present early. Like almost 2 months. She got me a Kindle 3g! She is going to bring it to Disney in less than 2 weeks! Only 1 week left to work until vacation! Last night was bad did not get home until 130am~ Never done Palo before but have signed up for Manzanillo. Mom has never done DCL do you think she will like it?:cool2:

Well Happy Birthday! What an awesome gift and it will give you plenty of time to get everything you want on it. I just can't decide if I want the plain one of the 3G but I will have one soon myself.

We love Palo - especially brunch but dinner is very nice as well. And the service is impeccable (or ours has always been).

As far as your mom liking DCL - I bet she loves it!

Your week will fly in....
I know your mum will love, I cant believe Ive only been back a week and looking forwrd to going again.

Still sticking to my no wine no fried stuff rule since Ive been home, and its only cause of this crusie!

OK, Book Whale watching (thanks Des!) and now who do I notify that I'm on? On to first page then to feed the brain. Everyone is grumpy here. And not the good one.

Go straight to the Wonder version of Rockin Bar D and get one booked. Our friends got one no problem on the TA. Don't worry, you will get one even if you go up to Palo and ask. They do their very best.

Hi Laura :wave2: I had not realized that you are on this cruise as well.

Corinna

:wave2: Corinna,

With a little bit of "Magic" :wizard:, I was able to re-book this cruise. I'm actually looking forward to quiet time WITHOUT the kids! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Meaning, I just re-booked. Now I understand Dan's comment, a regular reunion.

BTW, Dan! Glad to sail with you again! LOL

thanks Val and Bob.
I think i'll wait till closer to decide about champagne. if i was to do it, i'd probably want the more formal one, but since i'm not sure, dont count me or my vote yet. DH would find something to do i'm sure. i'm guessing we're not talking hours for this! Also wanting to spend time with DD but siince she's CM i dont know what she'll have free.
well i LOVE LOVE italian food. but i think i wont try for the group thing ATT because the other food is so good. if alan wants it, he'll book it and i'll go along but if he can't, i've always enjoyed the dining room food anyway. we'll have plenty of appropriate dress so i'm sure if we get a res last minute on board we'll be fine. thanks for all the info.

i'm terrible with names, so i ordered me a bracelet. i really dont care what it says as long as it id's me as on this board. you all seem like so much fun! so if i dont recognize names, someone maybe will approach me with the bracelet.
thanks!
enjoy! wish all of you the lovely day we're having here in DC!!

Sherri

We are renewing our vows on this cruise (never had a wedding ... ran off to the JOP). However, none of our family can join us due to time of year and length of cruise. We would love to have 6 people join us. It is gonna be on the first formal night (usually around 4:30). Mickey will be joining us .. LOL

I will try to read through the three threads, but I thought I just check in and say "hi".

We booked this cruise while we were on the WBTA and just came back from WDW yesterday. We are Corinna (36) and Graham (52) and live in Manchester, UK. This will be our 6th Disney Cruise and 8th cruise overall. I am looking forward to joining you all.

Corinna

Hi Corinna! Its nice to see more familiar faces on this cruise. Hope you enjoyed the WBTA

What a lovely gift! The kindle is a wonderful thing to have on the cruise. I think your mum will love DCL. I was worried about my parents liking DCL as well and they had ablast. They ended up "ditching" us to do their own thing!
