Well of course not! How could you be fans of something you had never partaken of?

I have not partaken because it holds zero intrest for me. The only wizardy stuff I like is Merlin. Has anyone here seen the movie Excalibur? My god, what a great take on that story.

Count me among the "not" Potter fans. Actually, not a movie fan either - I can't sit through one.

Supposed to be a little snow today. That would be good.

I am a huge Potter fan and would love to go, however since they still have not released an opening day it makes it difficult to plan :furious:

Hopefully I will get there someday....

Cheerio,

Holly
Not fussed for Harry Potter, enjoyed the books but not the films.

:lmao: It is very rare for me to go to the movies, after 1 hour I get ants in my pants, mind I went to see gladiator, I had a fit when I realized how long I had to sit .

I am in the middle of the HP group. I have never had any interest in the books, but DH likes them and we have watched the movies together. They ate fine enough, but I prefer movies like Momento or Lucky Number Sleven. We will be going to the attraction at Universal when it opens. I will report back my impressions for those who are curious. :)

Excalibur holds up amazingly well as a movie. It was done in the early eighties, but we re-watched it and it is still an effective movie.

HP works for me because it is a fully realized work, she has pondered all it's elements and given them shape and sense. From the food on the table to the memory holder.

I love Harry Potter (ok not Harry but the series) and was trying to get to Universal to see HP world in May- but now- I'm hoping for a long term sub job instead. I haven't been getting jobs as often recently so the money will help with the cruise. (usually I work 9 days out of 10 this winter more like 6-7 days out of 10)

DH and I are not Harry Potter fans. We have seen some of the movies but not read the books. We did enjoy the movies. A friend that may go with us on this cruise is a HUGE Harry Potter fan and she cannot wait to see the area an IOA. So currently the plan is to go there before the cruise.

I never got the whole HP thing until two years ago. I really got tired of not understanding what people were talking about so I got the books one by one out of the library.
I'm now hooked.
I love HP. From a literary stance it's not the Iliad, but it's well done for children to young adults (and those who are just young at heart). You get so pulled into the books, you can't put them down. I just wish she would write a decent epiloge!

:wizard:Good luck on the long term sub job, HP will be at Universal another time (and doubtful it will be open in May)! What type of sub'g is your specialty? Is everyone staying healthier:sick: & showing up for work:cheer2:?

To be honest, I really just don't enjoy reading books. DH and DD love to read though. DD loves the Harry Potter books and has a hard time putting it down. DH has only read the first and has interest in the other ones but has about a dozen or so other books he's wanting to read too. He doesn't have much time for reading but takes advantage of the the little time he does get. They both love the movies too. I think they're okay. I can watch them but DD and DH really get into them.

We will go to the US parks in Orlando some day. We went in CA but I wasn't impressed. DD was young (4) though so we didn't get to do some of the attractions. Maybe on our next extended trip to Orlando we will go to the US parks. I just have a hard time taking time away from Disney :goodvibes

For the craft thing, let me see what I can't get figured out. May have to put concierge on it before sailing....

And we can do a mixed craft meet or meetings. The thing I love about knitting over scrapbooking is how portable it is. I can very easily take it to the Cove Cafe for a couple of hours in a comfy chair and be very self contained. Kinda hard to be a self contained scrapper!

Thats SO true. When I scrapbook away from home, I take kits and my pre-packed tool kit with plenty of adhesive. Maybe I should start crocheting again; anyone wanna give me lessons.

I am interested in doing a zip line excursion on this cruise- can anyone tell me what ports this is offered at based on prior experience? Is it a better experience at one port vs. another?

I am just back from Costa Rica. We were in the Northern part and the zip lining was good, but I think the southern part of Costa Rica (Punta Arenas) would be the best zip lining port.

I cannot believe how many posts there have been since I left!!!

Trip to Costa Rica was fast but wonderful. I have traveled most of the west coast of Mexico and I think the Zip lining in Costa Rica...especially near Punta Arenas would be the best.

After that we enjoyed our provincial winter games where DD competed in Judo.

DD is also a pony clubber. I am on the no go for the horseback riding on the beach. I have rarely seen horses that were well cared for. It just breaks our hearts. You don't really get to "ride" either. The horses know the routine and follow the path.

Hello to new people!

Sorry to those who have suffered family losses.

Speedy recovery to injured pets.

We have had the bracelets for both our cruises. We love them. We ordered them off ebay. They were in expensive, they came quickly. We had them engraved with a cruise slogan and our names. Everybody was able to order their own but we coordinated colour and font with the whole Dis group.

I know I was going to post more....but I am going to have to reread!!!

You guys are awesome!!!:thumbsup2

That movie is fantastic! I can watch it over and over and be entranced each time. Loved Mordred's sun mask as he goes out to battle Arthur. I think my fave image is when Excalibur is tossed back into the lake and the arm comes up out of the water and catches it, then pulls it back down.

You can also tell I like Merlin, since that's the nickname I gave my DH for cruising!

Hello all,

Just so I can maintain my reputation of never in point of fact posting anything on topic, I want to ask the following.

Is anyone planning on going to the new Harry Potter park in Orlando?

We are starting to see commercials for it, and I'm intrigued.

Katherine

I love the HP books as well! I actually just finished listening to The Deathly Hallows on CD this afternoon! I love how intricate and detailed they are. JK Rowling is a great writer and kept me entertained through all 7 books.

My parents were just down at Disney this past weekend and they saw a bunch of billboards saying the opening of the new park was going to be on May 29th. I am definitely going to go, but not that weekend. We'll go when we go down for the Food and Wine Festival in October.

Thanks for the tip! I wish they would release that date officially so I can make some plans!

That is a great immage. There is so much I like about that movie. It really tells the story well. Also I love the whole Merlin/Morgana thing. That was a great sub plot.

You guys are out of control! :rotfl2: How am I ever going to catch up? 24 pages in less than 2 weeks. Seriously, I don't know if I'll have time to read every post. If anyone did any cruise planning please re-post.

DD birthday at WDW was great, as usual! We did 3 character breakfasts and she loved them. I still like Chef Mickey's the best but love the juice at O'hanas. I wish they sold that juice. DD is really starting to get into the rides now too. Her favorite was the merry-go-round but she also loved Dumbo, Alladin carpets and Small World. And, of course, the choo-choo. The campfire sing-a-long at Fort Wilderness was nice and she really enjoyed it, although she mostly liked playing with the gravel on the ground. :) It was a very nice bike ride from WL to FW, we did it a couple of time at the beginning of the week but then the weather got really cold (well, cold for us Floridians anyway).

I just booked another cruise so we will be platinum for this cruise. FL resident rates came out a few days ago. We are doing a short 3-day for DH birthday. He doesn't even know yet, I'd love for it to be a surprise but I have to tell him soon so he can get the day off work.

This cruise still seems so far away but I'm not rushing it. Looking forward to it makes it last longer. I remember how quickly the last PC cruise was over, I couldnt' believe it. Two weeks seems long now but when you are really enjoying yourself it goes by very quickly.

My boss is out this week so I might actually be able to catch up on this thread. ;)
