Have a great day!!
That class trip would be something, wouldn't it? I do feel sorry for those kids; they need their parents and positive guidance, but for whatever reason don't get it. Makes me very upset.
It would be great. If I had the money, we'd a couple of nice tour buses and go on the road!
Look at those two adorable girls on Halloween!! I also had a Pocahontas one year. I was so sorry to read about John hitting the dear. How is the car search coming along Jill?
She called me this afternoon and said they were about to go car hunting. I said that car hunting with John would be on my Top Ten Never Wanna Do List. She sent me a text later. It might have said 'Kill me!'
The cake is adorable and the kids are even cuter!
Sorry to hear about John's car...hope he's ok!
Good luck with your conferences, MeMom! Mine are just around the corner too...
We think maybe he cut a deal with the deer so he could get a new car.
Caught up after weeks and weeks and weeks and weeks of absence due to no internet access!!! We lost it during the packing and then when we moved house, it took 4 weeks to set up in our new rental place.
Glad to be back!!!!

Nothing much has been happening around here. We've all been very busy. Maybe we'll get another group of pictures up by Friday night.
It's so sad to think about your kids who have parents who don't seem to care very much. Hard to imagine, really, when I think about how much I love my sweet girl.
Fortunately, those kids are in your capable hands and will be well-taught and well cared for.
We have some very involved parents and some very uninvolved ones. One of our focuses is on parent involvement, and we try to have lots of things for them. We almost always offer free dinner to get them more inclined to come. If we can get the parents to really realize the importance of what we are trying to accomplish and what their part is in that, great strides will be made.
The girls looked adorable in their costumes. Sounds like John was okay, thankfully! Accidents with deer and moose can be so scary. Growing up in Maine it was something I was always on the lookout for. My mom had a bad accident many years ago when young moose ran into her car. They had to use the jaws of life to get her out.
Sorry to hear about your mom's accident. We've had some bad stuff going on around here lately, too - two accidents I will tell you about in a minute. I hope your mom had a full recovery.
Oh my, I hope John didn't get hurt in the accident. I will send for the car shopping.
I love the girls costumes for Halloween, so cute!
Lexi was Jack Skellington.
She got lots of candy too.
I may be nibbling on some of her candy as I type ....
It's still crazy at work, if it's not one thing it's another.
One of my cat's jumped on the table ( a no-no) and dumped a glass of water on my DMom's laptop and it is fried.
So I have been sharing my laptop with her in the evenings.
So not much DIS time lately.
Good thing is I now know what to get her for Christmas.
A trip to the zoo sounds great!
It will be fun to spend time with your girls and get a Disney fix too.
Have a wonderful night!
Mom gets a new laptop!
We just booked our spring trip, so I may be sitting in the dark eating PBJ instead of going to the zoo.
Jill, I saw your post on FB...glad John is ok and I hope you have some luck finding a new car!
You probably care about some of them more than their parents do which is sad, but true. That is something that I am trying to prepare myself for for when I start teaching. I'm sure though that even after many years of teaching, it doesn't get any easier to see some of those students who just don't have the home support
Teaching is a very challenging and frustrating job many days. You need to have thick skin.
Whew!! Caught up again! It looks lke July 5th was a lovely day to be at Disney, as if any day is a bad to be there! I woke up early this morning and as always your wonderful pictures and commentary have improved my glum morning. I know what you mean about parents not being involved all too well. We picked the community we lived in very deliberately for its great schools and involved community. Yet, last night they voted down our school levy. I guess that mean I will need to step up that much more to enrich my child's education. I'll start off by my usual Wednesday volunteering in Doug's class.
I hope conferences went well and that Jill and John are able to find some safe, affordable, reliable transportation!
They have friends who have an extra car sitting in the driveway. They said they can borrow it while they are looking. John doesn't want to, yet Jill and John gave another couple their car to borrow just a few months ago when they broke down. That's just what you do - you help and take help when you need it. That would give John time to do all of his research and not get in a hurry with a decision. We'll see...
Hi friends -
I will do an update on my PTR, but my Disney trip plans are now in the air. My sweet Grandpa passed away this morning after a long battle with dementia & pnemonia. He was 83 & lived a long happy life. We think his funeral is Saturday morning so we won't leave for WDW then. My aunt is going to call the airline this afternoon & see what we can do but honestly, it's the last thing on my mind. Grandpa was the patriarch of our family and although we knew he was getting weaker, it isn't any easier.
Thanks, friends....sorry to hijack your thread Jill & MeMom.
Hijack away. We are here for you. I am sorry to hear of your loss. No matter how old someone is, it hurts to lose them. You will be in our thoughts and prayers.
My boyfriend's grandmother passed away exactly one week ago. Like your grandpa, she was definitely the matriarch of the family, and even though everyone knew she was getting worse (stage 4 renal kidney failure and congestive heart failure), it was still very hard when she passed away. I'm sorry for your loss
All the firsts (holidays, special events) without them will be bittersweet, too.
I love the pictures of the girls playing in Storm Along Bay! It's a small world after all! I see my friend's little girl in one of your pictures. Glad to hear John is o.k. Hope you guys find a car quick.
MeMom- Our school system does the same thing every year. Doesn't make sense.
That's funny.
Hi there, friend's little girl!
We just got next year's schedule today. We are out for conferences November 1st next year!
**********************************************
A couple of tragic things have happened to people we know and sort of know in the past two weeks. A two year old boy was hit in the head by a falling boulder at Falls Creek Falls State Park. He is the son of one of the Church of Christ ministers here. His mother grew up as a foster daughter in the home of friends of ours that went to school with us and where we picked up our own 'special friend' for weekend visits to give the foster parents a break. He has suffered great damage.
Then we just found out about another friend who went to church with us for years and who has a son who works part-time with Drew. He has always ridden motorcycles, and he had a wreck Monday night. They say he is fighting for his life, and the news is not looking good right now. He is the son of the former Grand Old Opry singer, Bill Carlisle, if any of you know anything about old-time country music.
One moment in time, one step, one slip, one foot of space can make a difference, and we never know when it could be us. We just need to be appreciative of the good days and good things we have and always let people know we care about them. Keep these sweet families in your thoughts and prayers as they go through these very difficult days, if you will. And keep our DIS friends who have lost loved ones in mind, as well. We like being able to share one another's burdens.
