We went to the state fair yesterday. As some of you know, the Texas State fair is famous for deep frying just about anything. Last year, fried twinkies were the new thing. I'm not a big twinkie fan, so I never tried them. This year, everyone was going on and on about these fried oreos. I know, I know...not only does it sound weird, but it also sounds like a heart attack waiting to happen. But around here, that's what the state fair is for...pigging out on fatty foods
So, DH and I got some and tried them. They were actually REALLY good. I mean REALLY, REALLY good.
They were also selling fried Snickers. I'm not a Snickers fan, so we didn't try that one. I do kinda wonder what it would have been like though. Along with the other fried junk food was fried cheese cake. We were gonna try that, but after have 2 corn dogs, cotton candy and 4 fried oreos, I figured I should skip the fried cheese cake.
If anyone is interested in trying this theory, I asked how they were made. It's very simple. You can either use funnel cake mix (which is what they used and it can be found in the baking goods aisle) or pancake mix. She said they're both pretty much the same thing. Dip your Oreos in the batter and fry them in a deep fryer until golden brown. That's it. I think any Oreo fans that aren't on a diet (or even ones that are on a diet and don't mind going off the diet for a day) should try it. It's so yummy
