Brown Bear Car Washes announces free car washes August 24 as a "thank you" for public response to theft of 46 bear statues

Company offering washes 10 a.m-6 p.m. at 19 automated tunnel wash locations

(August 17, 2006) SEATTLE, Washington—The bears are back—at least many of them—and Brown Bear Car Wash is offering special "thank you" to Puget Sound residents August 24.

Last week Brown Bear Car Washes reported 46 life size bronze/copper bears valued at $50,000 were stolen from the company's Fife warehouse. Due to the public response to media reports, 25 of the bears have been found in various locations throughout the area. The Fife Police Department has also recovered remnants from several more bears that were destroyed for their scrap metal value.

As a way to say "thank you" to area residents for their response and well wishes, Brown Bear will be offering free "Bear Essential" car washes to the public Thursday, August 24 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at all 19 of the company's automated "tunnel wash" locations in the Puget Sound area
