free tickets to Kennedy Space Center

I emailed our congressman Gus Bilirakis (Tampa) -who others have often gotten tickets from and never even received a reply of any kind from his office. Pretty dissapointed we didn't even get a "sorry, thanks anyway" reply. :sad2:

Hi.. I'm in Tampa...I went through Kathy Castor's office....e-mailed Julie Fitzpatrick...she was able to help. good luck :)

I actually was the one who broke Julie in - LOL...after I found the thread here I emailed her and she had no clue what I was talking about. :rotfl2:
If Gus Bilirakis is your congressman, you must go through his office. Kathy Castor shouldn't help you if you are not located in their district.

Thanks so much to you both. No Gus B is our congressman, but Julie from Kathy C's office was able to forward our request directly to his NASA liason, who already emailed us to let us know he was working on our request.

We had each sent emails to Gus B before but I guess they just never got where they needed to! :yay: Thank you both so much for your help!!!

:) Jen

Our congressperson's office is SO lame. The staff said, sure you can get tickets, if you call Kennedy Space Center directly and buy them. I received an email that actually said the same thing. Seriously? Just say you don't know what I'm talking about it...I actually thought that response was really rude. :confused3 Here is the exact email below.

"If you’re interested in Kennedy Space Center tickets, I would encourage you to visit this website: http://www.kennedyspacecenter.com/buy-tickets.aspx
Joseph Goddard
Congressman John Campbell (CA-48)
1507 Longworth House Office Building
P: (202) 225-5611
F: (202) 225-9177"

Wow...that doesn't sound very nice! :sad2: Now I'm afraid to email my congressman.

I just contacted our Congresswoman Shelley Berkley from Las Vegas for our passes. Hope we hear back from her soon!

I just emailed my congressman's office! Thank you OP and everyone else who have shared their information with us. We had planned on spending the day at WDW but upgraded to the KSF verandah and I blew my February vacation budget on that. My five year old will be thrilled if this is an extra perk to his already awesome Disney vacation!

I just emailed Denny Rheburg (sp? I can never remember HOW to spell it) from Montana, and am hoping that there are passes available for May 2011

I sent an email to my congressman a few weeks ago, figured they might have ignored the email since i never got a confirmation or response, then today to my great surprise I got an email that said they had sent the info to NASA and they will let me know what they find out!:cool1: I know that does not mean I have tickets, but hey at least they requested them for me, there is a chance we will get them!!! My boys would love going there, and there is a shuttle launch during our stay!:cheer2:

Not to be the bearer of bad news, but if you are going in February, there are no tickets available..all gone as they only alot a certain amount to congress - at least that's what my congressman's aide told me yesterday:sad2:. We are going the first week in February, about two weeks before the launch. I hope he was wrong for your boys sake. I know that mine would have loved to have gone too but if I have to buy tickets at ages two and five, I'll spend the day prior at WDW!

I am going to email my rep tomorrow. I will let you know how it goes. OP thanks for the info. :)

Got a reply, Shelia from the office got in touch with NASA, and will be emailing them the request in November, as they will not grant tickets more than six months in advance! Also she is submitting two seperate requests, as we have four adults, and one child, so we are requesting by the two seperate travel parties!

Since my congressman's asst originally put in my request almost 8 mos in advance and someone here mentioned you can only request 6 mos in advance, I sent her a "reminder" e-mail to doublecheck. Here's the response I got:
I did submit your request in July, but I just emailed them to ensure that they received it. I also asked for them to give me a status update about the passes. I will let you know when I hear something back.

Thank you for checking in with me and reminding me about the time period for requesting tickets! I promise to be in touch very soon. Have a wonderful rest of your week!

Best,

Ambyr R. Kinne
Staff Assistant
Congressman Michael Burgess, M.D. (TX-26)

I LOVE her :cool1::banana::cool1::banana:

Will keep you posted:thumbsup2

That would be our luck, that is okay it's always worth asking and I understand it's something a lot of people want to do. Hey if it's free it's worth checking out, otherwise we might just have to try again next time we are in FL. I am sure we will be cruising again! Maybe we just pay to get in when the boys are a bit older. Thanks for the heads up, we will see what happens!

So happy to have re-discovered this thread :). I read it awhile back and thought it sounded great but I lost it and figured this program went away.So excited to hear it is still going strong!

Fingers crossed I can get tix for our cruise in June. :goodvibes
My DS8 would be through the roof if we surprised him with this!

From the sounds of it we can only request up to 6 months out and they go fast. I will def. be emailing someone/anyone come Jan.

Thanks for all the info!:grouphug:You guys are GREAT!

Tell your congressman that comp tickets ARE available. His office needs to contact the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Office of Legislative Affairs there in Washington DC (the NASA liason), to get the tickets. Need to request 6 months in advance; If still available (they go fast) you should get your confirm about 4 months out. There are hard to get, but that is absolutely NO excuse for your congressperson not to try.

They are definitely still doing this because I just got confirmation of my tickets for January! So glad this thread was started and continually updated or I'd have never know about this program. :)
