free tickets to Kennedy Space Center

Okay, I am seriously confused! Isn't the shuttle program ending and the last launch is Nov. 1st? We are leaving in two weeks and I called our Cong. office and the gal was really nice and said she'd give it a shot. Who knows? It may work out or not. Didn't hurt to try. If it doesn't I guess we'll have to be buying them online like everyone else. It would be nice to get pictures of the last shuttle in the gantry but if I have to make the decision which day and buy before I go, not sure I want to. The gal at KSC said if we waited til the day of, there wouldn't be tickets adn to purchase ahead of time......

Has anyone also been to the space centers in Houston and Alabama? We've been to the one in Huntsville several times (I grew up there), and are wondering if it's worth taking a day to see the Kennedy Space Center while we are in Cape Canaveral.

I first emailed on the 10th of Sept. An assistant wrote me back on the 13th and said she would try, but couldn't promise... and then she wrote me this afternoon confirming... so 20 days total.
But I would guess this would vary greatly depending on each Congressman's office. Good Luck!!!

So happy to have re-discovered this thread . I read it awhile back and thought it sounded great but I lost it and figured this program went away.So excited to hear it is still going strong!

Fingers crossed I can get tix for our cruise in June.
My DS8 would be through the roof if we surprised him with this!

From the sounds of it we can only request up to 6 months out and they go fast. I will def. be emailing someone/anyone come Jan.

We emailed our congressman(Ron Paul) Sunday and was called back today. She was very nice and said this was the 1st time they have gotten this request. She is going to check on it and get back to us. We also asked about tickets for the launch. She said all tickets are gone but she could put us on a waitlist. So here's hoping for some Disney magic .

YEAH!!! Just received an e-mail from our congressman's office that there are 4 "complimentary" tickets for us on 3.12.2011 That helps with the hotel costs, etc the nite before!

Well, I wrote to our congressman, but he is closing his office and said they cannot help me and re-directed me to the senators office. I wrote to them about 2 weeks ago and haven't received a response at all Pretty disappointed.

The last launch is now scheduled for Sun, Feb 27th. Of course that can change ten times between now and then. lol

We're leaving on the Dream on the 27th, so I'm kind of hoping to watch the launch from the deck.

This thread is great. Unfortunately we won't have time to visit the KSC, but I'm definitely keeping it in mind for our next trip!

Yes, they take requests 6 mo in adv, but you will prob here 4-5 mo in adv. Email your congressman's office as a "friendly reminder" and see what's going on. Good luck!
