Disney does not allow you to "stack" one discount on top of another.
So, you can either get a discounted room using your AP
OR
You can book the
Free Dining Package
OR
Your DBF can book a discounted room because he is a Florida Resident.
If you choose the Free Dining Package, you will pay the rack rate for the room and will be required to purchase at least 1-day MYW tickets for every person on the reservation. But, you will get either the QSDP (if you book a value resort) or the
DDP (moderates, deluxes and
DVC resorts) for free for every member of your party for every night of your stay. You can also upgrade your free dining plan to the next level(s) by paying the difference between the value of your free dining and the cost of the upgraded plan.
If you choose to book the AP room discount, you can often add the QSDP, the DDP or the DxDP to make it a package but you will pay for your dining plan at the normal cost. You can also purchase the Tables in Wonderland card and get a 20% discount on dining and adult beverages. You do not need to purchase tickets for anyone when using the AP discount.
If you DBF books the room with a Florida Resident Rate, I don't think that he can add any dining plan to the booking. But he is also eligible to purchase the TiW card for the dining discounts. He is also able to purchase Florida Resident theme park tickets for himself at a reduced rate.
It will take a little bit of number churning on your part to figure out which deal will work out the best for you. A lot will also depend on whether any rooms are available at the resort you want for the dates that you want.
