Free admission on your birthday intro + FAQ + gift card T&C

I just skimmed through the post and didn't see this addressed, but if I missed it, I am sorry!

My son's b-day is in January. We have annual passes, but often take friends with us. If we go on his birthday (without friends) and opt for the free ticket for another day, can someone else use the ticket? Or does my son need to use it before renewing his pass?

The free ticket is tied to the Birthday person and is non-transferable. You can't take it and give it to someone else to use.

As to the number of Birthday Fastpasses that you get, I'm going to go with what Al Lutz is saying, which is that the number of FPs you receive will be based on Park Attendance.

It makes much more sense than what I'm hearing, and would work much better operationally-wise.

Does anyone know how Disney is dealing with leap year people? My dd has was born on leap day in 2000 so won't actually have a birthday day this year.

Leap year birthdays are not a problem with Disneyland. They know how to handle the issue.

I would guess you can choose either to visit the day before or the day after? (feb 28 or Mar 1)

It's ONE use on ONE of the listed Attractions.

That's odd, since WDW's gets you one immediate fastpass on four of the listed attractions. See http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=29497185 for pictures and a TR.

FastPass Birthday Exchange Card

These may not be available for arrivals after 11:00am.

These tickets will be issued to each member of the celebrant’s party, but not more than six people. They will be valid that day and in that park only.

The return time on the FastPasses that are issued will be directly at the time of issue, no matter the FastPass Return Time that is being issued for normal FastPasses. In addition, even if all FastPasses are issued for a specific attraction for the day the special immediate access FastPasses will be issued; there will be one machine at each location for these passes.

Each of the tickets can be used once at each FastPass location. If you attempt to use it a second time an error message will come out.

As for leap day, official policy is that 2/28 and 3/1 are okay.

Exactly, regarding leap year birthdays. That either or date is no problem. I have read this many times now.

That's odd, since WDW's gets you one immediate fastpass on EACH of the listed attractions:

WDW is issuing FastPass exchange cards which are redeemable at the Attraction FastPass kiosks for FastPasses, the DLR, on the other hand, is issuing (multiple) actual FastPasses to our guests as they enter. ETA: I just stumbled across a picture of WDWs FastPass redemption card, and it looks different than the Birthday FastPasses we're issuing. I'll have to see if I can snap a picture of the new FPs when I work next.

The main response I've gotten on this matter is the same one that is issued by the DLR to many of these types of questions:

Walt Disney World determines their own operational procedures based on conditions and circumstances over there, and the Disneyland Resort does the same thing here. Those circumstances may not be the same, and as such, even seemingly identical things like the Birthday Fastpass offer may not be handled the same way at both resorts.

I don't know how Guest Relations/Main Entrance is handling the issueance of FastPasses, but I'm going to assume, based on this information, that they'll handout at least enough FastPasses to allow guests to enjoy each listed Attraction at least once. If that's the case, it would be the same concept in the end (each individual FastPass would be valid for ONE use on each of those Attractions).

What does everyone think about starting treads to deal with the different scenarios.

#1 the Disney fanatic who wants to go to DL and take advantage of the free admission on your bd

#2 The Ap who already has admission and wants to take advantage of the fp option

#3 The AP who already has admision and wants to take advantage of the gift card.

Would this be less confusing? Did I forget one?

WDW reports are good, but things may be different in Disneyland. Once we start to get reports, we can then ask for the thread to be a sticky.

The Stores are basically going to be acting as if the Fun Card is a fancy Gift Card (which, legally speaking, they are), as such, all regular DLR Merchandise Discounts can be used with it.

Found out yesterday from a friend that the Fun Card does not expire. It was previously said that it had to be used on the same day (your birthday). This restriction has been removed completely.

Also...

Yes, the Leap Day birthday folks are very specifically addressed in the FAQs on Disneyland's web site.

"Q: What if my birthday is on February 29?

A: You may take advantage of free admission to a theme park on either February 28, 2009 or March 1, 2009."

I saw that post too. Except the poster mentioned her mom used her *15%* discount, which made me wonder if she was able to use it for FOOD?????

I totally missed that post! *Gasp!* Food?! Hmmm...

But you can use the Fun Card at Pooh's Corner and the Candy Palace right? Because that is considered merchandise and not food. Even though it's considered food to me because you can eat candy and all those yummy things they sell there and you can't eat a sweatshirt... Right?

Only selected Disneyland/California Adventure stores and World of Disney. No restaurants. You can use them for guided tours too. I'm not sure about purchasing tickets with them though.
