FREAP CHAT ~ Everyone Welcome!

That is GREAT! Most 5 year olds want to be a princess- and she wants to be the perfect color Flamingo!

That is awesome! I love it- :rotfl2:

Her creativity & imigination are amazing and she is definitely my artistic child - loves to paint, draw, etc. But I worry about NEXT Halloween :scared1:

So my DD - 5 & in Kindergarten decided she wanted to be a FLAMINGO  for Halloween :headache: And not just any flamingo, it had to be the right color pink, the right this, the right that, let's just say there was a moment in the store when I threatened to take away trick or treating if she didn't stop being a PITA about the color and how I would achieve this freaking bird costume! Here is what we have so far....

IMG_1609.jpg

She has matching pink tights, pink sock type slippers for her legs & feet (might attach black fake fingernails to top of slippers for that nail look on the feet), and I am planning on painting her face pink, putting her hair in a single braid so it is flat on her head and spraying that pink. She also has a bird beak that attached with the elastic (like a kids clowns nose) that I have painted pink.

I will post pics after she dresses up! We are taking the kids trick or treating Sunday at Roger Williams Zoo in Providence and I can't wait to get a picture of her next to her favorite animal

BEST costume idea I have seen this year!! I LOVE:love: flamingos...

I haven't spent too much time in the south but I would love to visit all the places you describe! Oddly, I was an AF brat and born in Mississippi. I must have spent a whole 8 months there or something! I love watching travel shows on PBS where they show all the haunted historical buildings, etc. - sigh -

That is EXACTLY where I saw the Battery Carriage House! It was featured on The History Channel show- Haunted History! That is why we stayed there. We usually stay in B&Bs or Inns when we travel in the US.

DH and I also stayed @ The Logan Inn in New Hope PA. We stayed there Halloween night a few years back. (New Hope is one of our favorite places- we ride the cycle there all the time!) The Logan Inn was built in the 1700's. It is maybe 10 minutes from Washington Crossing PA. Yes- the area where Washington crossed the Delaware.

There is a lot of activity @ the inn. They used the basement to "keep" the dead bodies of soldiers b/c the ground was too frozen to dig graves. And they do say that Washington stayed there.

Hey Ladies (and any lurking gents) I haven't been around much today...woke up this morning to the most beautiful weather! Got to go around and open up the whole house! Which reminded me how dusty window sills, sliding glass door tracks, blinds, etc... can get during the summer! Where does all that stinking dust come from! You'd think with everything closed up it would stay the @#$$ out, but NOOOOO...so I ignored it all and hung out by my pool all day :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

But I had to come and say....I got the SPANX today! Remember forever ago they had a real quick promo....I had given up on them entirely! Anyone else get them? I also got my .99 cent lipgloss sets with free sunglasses from last week...they're great! Full sized tubes and the glasses are almost identical to my favorite pair! It's a good day! :hippie:

I love history! I think it is so interesting that you have learned all of this about these places! I can't remember where I set my keys... :headache:

Think of it as Pixie Dust...and keep ignoring it! ;)

OMG- I am the same way- I forget what I did 10 minutes ago- I was THEEE worst history student in the world.

I am only interested in the Revolutionary War. I can retain that info most of the time:lmao: Well, I am certain it has something to do with my past life- that is a whole other story!:thumbsup2

Funny when everyone was talking about being a "Yankee" I am SO proud to be from the Northeast! I feel we have so much history here- When people talk about moving- I say, I will move- but I have to stay on the east coast- I have no desire to move to the Midwest or the West coast-- I would prefer going further north, like MA however- DH would like to go south NC or SC, - he hates the cold- I hate the heat- so we will compromise and probably look in MD or VA (I prefer VA b/c of the history) he just wants water:lmao:

My Dad was a history buff and he had a degree in History...I could sit and listen to him talk for hours! Especially about history from when he was young...the way he remembered the things I just studied about in school. No body else at my house has the same (strong) interest I do in historical stuff...they pretty much humor me.

I have lived in the north mid-west most of my life. DH has always been a skier but his interest in that is fading now that we are both getting older. I would love to move to a warmer area, not necessarily a hot climate. I would just love to have flowers in my yard and a veggie garden for more than 2 months a year. :rotfl:

AND, by the way, I was so appaulled by the pumpkin violence that I sent a link to it to everyone I know and I joined JibJab! :rotfl2:

Revolutionary War, eh? What did you think of the movie, The Patriot?

Got mine today too!! :thumbsup2

And my Scholastic party kit came today. :woohoo:

I got a strange freebie today. I had gone to that 'sue us' section of the coke rewards, and made up some silly lawsuit that coke was trying to make me thin by having something that tastes like regular coke be calorie free, blah blah. So today I open this scary lawyer looking thing. Turns out, they have accepted my case, and sent me a can huggie and a coupon for a free coke and free coke zero, so I can be sure my lawsuit evidence is correct. I stashed the huggie in the WDW box. . .2 more weeks and it will be put to good use. . .perhaps by the pool at OKW.

My DH just got in from the airport. He is a volunteer airport shuttle for people coming in for the Savannah Film Festival hosted by SCAD where he teaches. He was supposed to pick somone up(who never showed) unknown, and went to check on others that were waiting..who happened to be Lynn and Vanessa Redgrave. He is quite a chatter/charmer, so he entertained them for about 20 minutes about the "subtleties" of Southern "speak". At one point the ladies asked him if Savannah was any where "near" (culturally) New York, DH said "about 30 years"..:rotfl: He is always coming across famous people, and this week a lot of them will be here.

He also got to meet Timothy Dalton, looking for a lift..

Michael Douglas is receiving a lifetime achievement award, so he and Catherine will be here..DH may go to the coctail party after the awards..

I got my screwdriver set today, and three Walmart freebies...I am packing up all the baby ones I got to take to my friend tomorrow..she's going to think I'm very strange..giving her about 5 different kinds of formula..she is probably breastfeeding, and even if she isn't, you don't just go around giving the kid 5 different kinds of formula-you're asking for trouble!! I also have 1 diaper for her and a sippy cup....I did actually buy her the cutest set of Minnie onsies-the long sleeved, footie kind..Oh yeah, I almost forgot..that silly bracelet that says "I'm Expecting"..guess she doesn't need that anymore, although I can't imagine any expectant mother needing to wear a bracelet to point out the fact...:rotfl: :rotfl: :hippie:

Would someone please explain Spanx to me? I saw the woman who invented them on Oprah, and I really didn't get an idea about them other than they are footless pantyhose kind of things? If they are footless, doesn't the end of the leg show up and then your entire naked foot? I know they are wonderful because of the success and I am totally not understanding the concept..please explain...thank you...

OK, I went and found a picture..still confused. Do they hide completely under your skirt?? Why wear them at all if there is no coverage on your legs???I am ignorant, I have lived in the south for 22 years and we don't wear panyhose, we go barelegged...
