I, with drink in hand, would like to propose a toast to the TKers.

May opportunity knock.
May romances bloom and romances already established hold stronge.
May sickness be a stanger.
May laughter be a friend.
God Bless you all.

Hi gals! Things have been so busy around here I haven't had a chance to stop in and say hi. I am hoping since the holidays are over that things will slow down a bit. DH is off again for 2 more days this week so maybe I will get back in my groove after this weekend. I did get another day posted on my trip report. Hopefully I can get some more done in the next 2 days while everybody else is sleeping late in the mornings.

Our first baby calf was born today. We were hoping for a girl but instead ended up with a boy. Darn!

We have a nice quiet night of staying at home planned tonight. DH's gonna insist on torturing the rest of us by making us eat black eyed peas tomorrow. Happy New Year everybody!

Oh yeah, I got a flyer today that said Disney On Ice is coming to a town near us in March! I am excited to get to take DD! When I was a kid my half sister got to go every year with her dad to the Ice Capades. I always felt so left out! Of course, the Ice Capades are no longer around but this should serve as a nice substitute! Now I won't have to feel like I was so deprived as a child!

Going back over some of the posts since I was here last....

DDisney, I enjoyed seeing your pictures quite a few pages back. I have not looked at to many photos from WDW. It looks so different from DL. I think I would be like your DH... not sure about wearing the birthday sash but I would do the button. I will never have to worry about it though cause my birthday is in July and there is no way I am going to either park in the middle of summer. Way too crowded for me. Give me the off season any old day! I hope you didn't turn into an icicle while you were grilling!

BKMETV, BBQ pork chops sound really good. Do you have a good recipe to share? Hope you get to feeling better soon.

Wow, MagiKitty! It sounds like they have some wonderful celebrations in the Phils. I hope you have a wonderful trip. OMG! I love the movie Somewhere in Time! It used to be one of my all time favorites! I have not seen it in forever. I hardly ever get to watch big people shows anymore.

Nice toast, Pikester! I don't think I could top that one and I'm only drinking Big Red so I doubt any toast from me would be effective! Anyway, best I can do is May God bless you all in the coming year!

The clock on the DIS is so off!

Morning all:

Thanks for the great countdown Stefanee. Hope everyone had a great night. We had a wonderful dinner of Roasted beef & ham with all the fixins'...and played our annual game of Trivial Pursuit. The girls always win so this year we picked teams...DH & I were 'captains'...and of course my team kicked butt!!

Regardless of weather, I always grill out on NYE. One year it was snowing quite a bit - but the snow melted nicely around the grill, so no biggie.
This year it is very cold (around 11 degrees I think) but I only run out there to get the grill started, then to flip the meat.

Hey, when you live in a climate where 9 months of the year are bad weather, you learn to improvise where needed. ;)

DL55 - Sorry about your dryer. Sounds about right though. Just when you think everything is okay....

Same here, as long as we can dig out the BBQ we use it!!

BKMETV, BBQ pork chops sound really good. Do you have a good recipe to share? Hope you get to feeling better soon.

Sorry no special recipe...just salt & pepper and brush on BBQ sauce near the end.

Hope everyone had a great new year! This thread moves fast when you walk away for a few days!

Happy 2009 Everyone!!!

Thanks for the toast Pikester! :drinking1 That was very nice.

Well, I didn't freeze last night. Was the only one in the neighborhood grilling, but I didn't care. Steaks turned out very GOOD!!!
We had a nice quiet NYE. Did the balloon drop from our second floor and the kids popped them.

Have a great day everyone! We're off to see BOLT. Hope its a good movie. :thumbsup2

Good morning everyone and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I woke up this morning and DH had actually put a new roll of paper towels on the roller! Whoo-hoo maybe that was his resolution for the year? Of course, I still had to pick up the wrapper and throw it away. Oh well, small steps, right?

We don't have any plans today except to stay at home and rest. My kind of day! Hope everyone has a good one too!

Happy New Year everyone!!! :pixiedust:

OMG MK, I just went and looked at the website for your resort village. WOW!!! Beautiful!! And I checked out the resort itself (hotel like place). A beautiful suite for 2000 php/night. That translates to $42.00 a night! With an exchange rate like that, you can't go wrong can you?

Do you have room in your suitcase for a large traveling companion????

Our party last night was great fun. We ate, laughed, played Yahtzee and Bunco, ate some more, laughed some more, and rang in 2009 with party hats and noisemakers. And we did it all stone cold sober!

Happy New Year everyone! Thanks for the toast Pikester, I hope it holds true for all of us. Hubby and I didn't do much, went to a little local mexican restaurant for dinner, played some cards and mainly watched Dog the bounty hunter, up until a few minutes to the countdown.

Looks like everyone had a nice New Years. We had a quiet night at home. Kids played the Wii for what seemed like forever. Lots of laughing and giggling from the little ones. The surprise hit game for the older kids is POTC At World's End. Even DS loves it and he used to only want to play wrestling and football games.

I must say, I've been pleasantly surprised by DS. Things are still going well though there have been some slip ups. He hasn't complained to go to his mom's since he's been back home with us. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. It's just still a long, long. loonggg tunnel but that speck of light it there finally.

D&DDisney, I wish my DH would have grilled yesterday. I miss grilled food so much. Maybe I can convince him to do it before he has to go out of town again. Yeah, right. :lmao:

Magikitty, I'm so sorry I never got to send the package to you. :flower3: I have everything sitting all together but time keeps slipping away. I don't know where it's going anymore. I think you don't listen to country music but I swear I'm living the Kenny Chesney song "Don't Blink" right now.

whgrn, what you did for New Year's is my favorite kind of celebration. DH and I went out last year for the first time (shhhhh) and I really didn't enjoy myself. I would much rather be home with the kids and family just having fun. Glad your's was so wonderful and filled with happiness.

Marie, :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: for DH!!!!! Mine has been pretty good since he's been home. He even has done the dishes for me. He's been letting me take it easy for now since he has to leave again next week. Sometimes, he just gets it right.

MSP, yep, sometimes it moves fast. If you ever get lost, just ask for a recap. One of us will be glad to help out....and D&D rocks on that. How was your holiday?

HI Ev! Kickin butt on Trivial Pursuit...remind me to never play any trivia games with you. :lmao: Glad you had a good one.

DL55, sorry about the dryer. That really stinks.

Pikester, loved the toast. Thanks, here and there.

My holiday was wonderful New Years was great I somehow ended up at my DBF's friends house with 5 guys :scared1: It was fun though and we had a great time. I am excited that people have started reading my TR and are commenting on it. It is some exciting stuff to see that people care you went on vacation in March and are just now getting around to writing about it:lmao:

Where is everyone? :confused3
Hope everyone had a Happy New Year. We had some Bailey's Irish Cream at 11 pm, dozed off and was awakened at Midnight by fireworks. Said "Happy New Year" then went back to sleep. We are such partiers. :rotfl:
DH has only 365 more days before his retirement. I think I'll make a ticker (as if he'll forget how much longer  )

Hey DL55!!! I'm here, but not sure how long. I'm at work but it is blissfully quiet today...knock on wood.

I will be away for the next couple of days, not sure if I will have internet access. We are going to Duke to see what they have to say about my Dad. Don't forget the prayers. :)

pepperw23Hope you get good news about your Dad. Will have you in our thoughts.

Good Morning,

We saw BOLT in the theaters yesterday. Usually we wait til movies go to video, but we got a theater gift card this year. That was such a good movie. Hilarious!!:lmao: I recommend everyone see it
Also watched "The Notebook". Was expecting a love story...but not one so SAD. Good movie, but kinda a downer.

Where is everyone? :confused3

You are such a party animal. :rotfl2: But, I have to admit... I'd probably have done the same thing if the kids weren't running around the house on NYE. Congrats to DH on retirement!!!

Racetrack - I am so glad to hear that things continue to go well with DS. That tunnel is LONG, but hang in there. There's hope for these boys yet!:thumbsup2
As far as the grilling is concerned, my DH will grill from time to time. He's not a die hard griller like I am. Must be that guy in me, but I do enjoy it as much as cooking inside. Food taste sooo much better too.
Has the NASCAR countdown started at your house too? It has here. ::yes::

Marie - Yeah for your DH!!!:cheer2: Its the little things in life...

Whgrn - Sounds like you had a fun NYE. I know what you mean about having a good time and still being sober. Although I like to have a drink or two I don't drink to have fun. I can have a great time w/o drinking a drop.

 to all the TKers out there! Enjoy the day!!!!
