Former Lasagne Lovers Meet Here!!!

On the Leif v. Shaun thing - I think if the fight were held today Leif would totally kick Shaun's butt.

One more for you all to ponder then I'm really leaving to watch Johnny Tremaine:

Vinnie Barbarino v. Fonzie...... discuss

Ok, in second grade I had a purple Fonzie shirt, and I was always doing my impersonation with the thumbs up and "Aaaayyyyy":lmao::rotfl2:

You just leave piddow out of this...he never did anything to you:confused3

Are you kidding?? All the times I've had to listen to your whining when you don't have it and can't get comfortable.:rolleyes1

Ok here are my picks (always a day late and a dollar short)
Conjunction junction, Starsky, Webster

Ok going to take some antacids now. blech!

You're right, AP -- and I wasn't that crazy about either one of them....Parker Stevenson, though....:love:

And Fonzie all the way...

It's all about the pillows:lmao:

Thanks all for the well wishes! :goodvibes

Anyone know where I can get some colonial attire fast and cheap? I need costumes for my kiddos for next month. I can sew (easy patterns - preferred) - so I guess sewing is an option - I don't want to spend a fortune because they may only be worn once or twice.

Any ideas would be helpful?
I was going to suggest a trip to (Colonial) Williamsburg or Yorktown, VA, but if you're nowhere near VA, that's a bit useless. Check the CW and Yorktown websites though for photos of the reenactors and interpreters... that should help you get more ideas. :thumbsup2

Interesting topic. To get to the ultimate question, calling BS will do no good. First, her friends/sycophants who hang on every word she says will rise up in a unified defense and you will be the bad person. Best to let these things unravel on their own. Nevertheless, perhaps there are some partial truths here. Perhaps your friend went to law school and has every intention of taking the bar exam but just does not have the drive to finish the task. Perhaps she feels the need to justify her existence to her friends. At some point the bar exam will come and go and more light may be shed on the situation. For now, you can probably get some clues by observing her. Does she claim to know everything about everything? (Politics, child rearing, books, the military, science fiction etc) This is very common among law students and lawyers who have not practiced long enough to know that they really do not know anything. Law school is a place where very smart and competitive people congregate to show off their intelligence and belittle others. Remember, law students are never wrong.
Hey now, I know a few law students and they're really nice people. :lmao: Although, on the other hand, I did know one a few years back who fit your description lock, stock, and barrel. Oy, she was a pain to be around. :scared1:

Hi all. Wanted to drop in for a quick update on my husband. He is back in the hospital with fluid built up in the lungs and a blood clot in his leg. He has pnemounia-Its looks like when he comes home this time it will be with oxygen.
My youngest will leave Sat for Iraq so now all three will be gone.
Getting more done around the house since I only read this thread.
Husband will have someone come to the house for PT once he gets home. I think the hardest for me is to see the man I married 42 years loose all his engery and not want to do much of anything. He has such a hard time and is always short of breath.
Sorry this is long but just feeling a little sorry for myself.
Okay back to the real world and off the pity me one.

Good wishes to all
Sandy
Sandy, just letting you know I'm praying for y'all and thinking about y'all. I hope things get much better soon. And  to your son for his service.

I was listening to Carly Simon today and I just love her. Loved the song she sings in Piglets Big Movie. Of course I'm a fan of most of her songs.

What are y'all's favorites? popcorn::
"You're So Vain." Describes a few folks I know rather well. Incidentally, Brooke on American Idol last year reminded me of Carly Simon a bit.

Speaking of all things reality, Dancing with the Stars comes on in a bit, so I will bid y'all adieu shortly. On paper before the season started, Shawn was my favorite. I like her a lot, but also like Melissa, and Ty is doing amazing! Such an improvement over the first week. I hope he makes it to the end if he keeps improving like this. I almost always root for the athletes on that show. :cheer2:

Fonzie for me too. Mostly because I didn't really watch Welcom back Cotter (that's where Vinnie is from right?)

You guys are making me feel really young. lol

My reference would be more like: Theo Hukstable vs. Zach Morris. ;)

Honestly, I probably would have to go with Richie Cunningham or Pottsy

But I think Fonzie would totally take Vinnie in a scuffle. Although I think he was too obsessed with his hair - wth was up with that? :rotfl:

this discussion reminds me of when Glenn Beck asked Chuck Norris "who would win a fight between Walker Texas Ranger and Jack Bauer". Norris said Bauer wouldn't last 5 seconds with Walker and I think he really meant it!

:cool1:

Hey fellow lasagna lovers!
It's finals week for me. Two down and two more to go. I thought I deserved a break, so here I am! :woohoo:

I'll be thinking about and praying for your dh, Sandy. Please keep us updated.

So. What's everyone's favorite color?

boredsmiley.gif
Green, although I am partial to red at times...

You guys tried to ditch me, but I found you.

A private board for political discussion would be nice. :) Just don't ditch me.

We have plenty you can have. :sad2:

Funny, I'm just about to do the same. Must be a chocolate cake kinda day.

I like the stuff where ya put the vanilla wafer cookies in the bottom of the bowl, pour vanilla pudding over the whole thing, when slice bananas all across the top and top with whipping cream. Oooooh yummy.

:lmao: Yup.

My mom makes it like that, too! It is so good. I'm going to ask her to make it for me this week.

My nephew needed to be licensed to practice in three states (none of which, unfortunately, provides reciprocity to the other), which meant the bar three times. His experience mirrored what AP stated on his first experience and only studied a few weeks for the subsequent exams. But, then, he is a very smart guy (and makes the money to prove it)!:)

Well, unless the second and third states were Washington and Louisiana, I'm assuming he either didn't have to take the MBE over again if his scores were high enough (in some states, if not all, you don't have to retake the MBE with a certain score), and even if he did have to take the MBE again there would have been no reason for anyone of even average intelligence (or less) to have studied more than once for the same exam.

So the subsequent exams he should have ony had to study half as much as the first one. Plus he was fresh out of law school so didn't have to re-learn much, whereas somone one who is over a decade out of law school and had not practiced for say 7 years would have a lot more ground to cover, considering laws tend to change and evolve.

And so your nephew was working fulltime while taking care of a toddler and didn't take any bar classes?

Here's a recipe by Tyler Florence that is quite tasty!

2 pound dried lasagna noodles
Extra-virgin olive oil
2 pounds ground beef
2 pound ground Italian sausage
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, sliced
3 carrots, chopped
2 stalks celery, chopped
2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
1/4 cup finely chopped Italian flat-leaf parsley
1 tablespoon chopped oregano leaves
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups red wine
2 (28-ounce) cans tomatoes (recommended: San Marzano)
3 tablespoons heavy cream
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 quarts ricotta cheese, (2 containers)
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1/2 cup grated Parmesan
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 pound mozzarella cheese, shredded
Grated Parmesan and mozzarella, for topping

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Cook the lasagna noodles in plenty of boiling salted water until pliable and barely tender, about 10 minutes. Stir with a wooden spoon to prevent sticking. Drain the noodles thoroughly and coat with olive oil to keep them moist and easy to work with.

Coat a large skillet with olive oil, add beef and sausage and brown until no longer pink, about 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. In a food processor, combine the onion, carrots, celery, garlic, basil, parsley, an oregano. Process until pureed, add to the pan with the ground meat and stir to combine. Stir in the flour. Add the wine and cook until it has reduced by half. Stir in the tomatoes and add the heavy cream and the cinnamon.

In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta and the parmesan. Stir in the eggs and season with salt and pepper.

To assemble the lasagna: Coat the bottom of a deep 13 by 9-inch pan with olive oil. Arrange 4 noodles lengthwise in a slightly overlapping layer on the sauce. Then, line each end of the pan with a lasagna noodle. This forms a collar that holds in the corners. Dollop 1/2 of the ricotta mixture over the pasta, spread to the edges with a spatula. Spread 1/2 of the meat mixture over the ricotta. Sprinkle 1/2 of the mozzarella on top of the ricotta. Top with a ladle full of sauce, spread evenly. Repeat with the next layer of noodles, ricotta, sauce, and cheeses. Top last layer with noodles, sauce, shredded mozzarella and Parmesan. Tap the pan to force out air bubbles. Bake for 1 hour. Remove from oven. Let lasagna rest for 30 minutes so the noodles will settle and cut easily. Cut into 2-inch squares and serve.

Living way out here on Alaska time, I always get to these discussions late...

Ok fair - let's go back to the 70s -- here's one for ya'

Leif Garrett or Shaun Cassidy?

Shaun Cassidy. Couldn't stand Leif Garrett.

Oooooo, that's easy for me - Shaun Cassidy! But don't tell Data - or we'll be hearing a song from David soon. And for goodness sakes, I can't get those partridge songs outta my head for days :rotfl:

Have you seen the SNL skit "Brady Bunch" vs. "Partridge Family?" One of the funniest skits ever!

Vinnie Barbarino v. Fonzie...... discuss

Vinnie...but I seem to be in minority here.

Admit it - you had a subscription to Tiger Beat;) (LOL)

Sounds delicious. Is there any reason chopped turkey couldn't be substituted for the beef?

Speaking of turkeys, did somebody punch Bob Beckel in his fat mouth?? I noticed he's missing a tooth.:rotfl:

Thanks Breezy! I won't be on for a few days after tonight, but Soarin should be updating everyone when I'm able to contact her.

Is anyone a fan of the old SchoolHouse Rock's from Saturday mornings?

I love the history ones - especially the one no more kings. My little one loves them too. Ah - good memories.

i liked "conjunction junction" (what's your function?)
