Im hoping some of you out there can help me out. My mom wants to buy my sister a digital camera for her birthday and left me in charge of getting it for her. She doesnt want to spend that much but doesnt want a piece of junk either(lets say she wants to spend around $200. I own a Sony Mavica and would not recommend it. My sister just got a Kodak cx6330 which takes clear photos outside but once inside they come out very grainy. Anybody out there can recommend a good camera that takes all around good pictures? Thanks in advance!

We have a Fujiflim FinePix A210 3.2mega pixels that we bought a few months ago for less then $200 I think $149 on sale and it takes great pictures.

I have a Sony Cybershot that I've been very happy with.

I have a Canon Power shot a40, It takes great pictures and also 15 sec video. I think it was around 200.00. I use rechargable
batteries which last for about 1 month before I need to recharge.

We have a fujifinepix, 2600z and we are very pleased with the results. No idea of price in th US, but was under £250 here in the UK.

We bought one last Christmas and used a web site called www.steves-digicams.com to research cameras. (If I am not allowed to post this I'm sorry, please remove my post. This person doesn't sell cameras, just provides info on the various brands.)

This site gives some very detailed consumer reviews and will help you understand digital cameras and the good/bad points for each. Decide what your sister would like -- # of megapixals, type of media card, all automatic or having control over the settings, size of camera, etc. We ended up with an Olympus 4 megapixel camera that had been discontinued and saved nearly half the price it originally sold for. But we used Steve's site to help narrow down the models. And I like my Olympus Camedia C-4000. Great pictures. I have control of settings if I want. Bad--it takes Smart Media which is hard to find here and I haven't found a card over 128 meg.

Consider in your cost the size of media card that comes with the camera. You may wish to purchase a second card with your gift. Mine came with a 16 meg card and on the highest setting I think I can hold 4 pics.

I have a Canon PowerShot also. Mine's the A60. It takes great pictures and like the other PowerShot model, takes video as well. I love the software it comes with - I enjoy making photo albums instead of just printing out the pics. You can add backgrounds, captions, and frames and they print out in 8 1/2 x 11 size pages. I punch holes on one side and put them in a 3-ring binder. Voila! Instant album.

We have a Fuji FinePix and we really love it! Took really really great pictures for us at Disney =)

Of course they're cheaper than when we bought... I think they're $150 now.

We have a Nikon Coolpix 3500 and love it. The pictures are great.
I think you can find it reasonably priced.

We just got a Canon S30 for MIL and found it on RitzCamera.com for $229. The camera is wonderful. I honestly wish I had that one over our Coolpix.

Either way, you won't go wrong.

I have a Sony cybershot that i'm not totally satisfied with. The casing for Sony cameras are plastic and there are other problems with the picture taking. But it more or less suffices. DH and I just bought a Canon digicam, and we love it. The casing is made out of metal and it's pretty durable. We have no problems taking pictures with it. So I would definitely recommend a Canon.

Thanks guys for all your information..i printed it all out and ill be purchasing one of these come the end of the week-thanks again!
