FOR THE FIRST TIME IN FOREVER...I'm NOT GOING HOME!! UPDATE DEC.30 PG 74

congratulations on getting your name tag - it must have really felt really real at that point, really!

That is great that you are enjoying work and that it is turning out how you thought it would and it has made you want to make Disney your career. It is definitely CMs that have an attitude like you of wanting to make a positive impact on guests that make Disney such a special place :goodvibes

The name tag really makes it real! It doesn't surprise me at all that you would like to make Disney a career. I have always wanted the same; however, I am a homebody and couldn't move 16 hours away from my family to pursue it. I am really enjoying your story and can't help but be a little jealous ;) Keep posting, even without pictures! The DCP is really interesting to me and I love hearing about it!

Hi there! I've been following your trip report and I've really enjoyed reading about all the fun and excitement, so I thought I'd post a comment to finally say hello! I'm also a Michigan native :thumbsup2

Congratulations on DCP and finding a career you feel is truly your calling. I know you must be an outstanding CM, because it seems like you're there for all the right reasons - for giving guests a magical moment or memory and making them smile! Good for you!!

PRINCESS CAITLYN, IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU ARE TRULY HAVING A MAGICAL TIME. I HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING ALONG BUT DECIDED TO POST TO WISH YOU WELL. I AM A 50+ SO THE ONLY REASON I WOULD WANT TO BE YOUNG AGAIN IS SO THAT I COULD PARTICIPATE IN THE COLLEGE PROGRAM. THINK I COULD SIGN UP FOR A CLASS AND MAYBE GET IN THE CP LOL. MY DW AND I WILL BE AT EPCOT FOR THE 4TH OF JULY SO MAYBE SEE YOU WORKING. HAVE A GREAT PROGRAM AND BLESS YOU AND YOUR FUTURE.:thumbsup2

Hi Caitlin! I am somewhat new to the boards. I am usually a lurker, but I have to tell you that I am loving you college program report so far! I did the college program in 2007 and I want so badly to make Disney a career! I hope you are able to pursue your dreams!

This morning I woke up not excited for the 24 hour party as I had planned but, excited for Traditions. There isn't much I can say about this because it's kept under wraps and locked in the vault ;)

Okay... but gimme a clue at least!
Is it like your intro to your new boss?

I got my name tag! I got my name tag :dance3:

Congrats! That really makes it official, doesn't it?

Definitely the best feeling in the world! I truly became a part of Walt's legacy and I will do my best to try and make magic throughout my time with the company!

Of course you will.
I have no doubt.

To celebrate my becoming an official CM Kristyn and I headed to Epcot to check out my soon-to-be home and get margaritas!!

 Of course! Mustn't forget the margaritas!

And yes, the bus system with the college program is just as bad as everyone says it is. Although I haven't had a ton of issues yet, I have been late to work once and have to be on a bus about an hour before I actually need to get to work :rotfl2:

Oy. Might be quicker to get a bike?

When the little boy sat down I began asking him about his vacation and he talked away telling me all about the rides and all about Mickey. The parents looked at us in awe and thanked me for getting him to talk about the trip!

Who wouldn't talk to you?
While we've never met, I imagine you to be very approachable.

I love being able to see this on my way to work everyday although I am usually distracted by the Fountain of Nations :rotfl:

Wait.
Go back.

You get to see this.
Every. Day. On your way to work.

That night when I talked to my parents on the phone I told them I plan on making Disney a career. I honestly do.

And I honestly believe you.
Others have already mentioned it, but it doesn't surprise me one bit.

My goal has always been to work at a job that touches or changes someone's life.

A worthy goal. :worship:

Next up the rest of the weekend! (not a ton of pictures so I thought I would lump them together in an update and I also wanted to say I am only going to post on days I have pictures of so I am not boring you guys with tons of talking!)

Nothing wrong with talking! But thanks for posting! :goodvibes

I haven't been to SeaWorld in years, but I also LOVE the Clyde & Seamore show. So funny!
And aww about you and the little boy on the bus. I love chatting with people of all ages at WDW!

You're apt looks very nice. I love that you have a pool! It's very cool that you have a good roommate that you've already become friends with!

How are things going at Nemo? What have you been assigned to do there thus far?

How is it going? Sounds like you are getting along with your roommates so far. What have you done so far at work and play? Any DIS meets so far?
:surfweb::surfweb: Waiting to hear more while working on my January trip and maybe pre-trip report.

YAY for getting your nametag!!!! I would love love love to work for Disney and I'm so excited for you that you're able to do that. I would need to work in the Northern branch... haha. I keep hoping that the popularity of Frozen prompts them to open a park in Buffalo... :rotfl:

Every day when I create a little magic for guests or have them smile when I say "Just keep swimming" it makes my heart happy.

"Just keep swimming" has turned into a mini motto for me. I bought a Dory pin from the gift shop attached to your area just to remind me of that :goodvibes

Don't hold back posting due to lack of pics!!! I would not be bored at all!!! :yay:

That is so exciting that things "clicked" for you and you know that you want to pursue a career with Disney! :cool1:

I will try to talk about all of the interesting portions of my job!

I just love my job! I feel so grateful to be working here!

You didn't surprise anyone when you said you wanted to stay and have a career there. It is the perfect fit for you :goodvibes

Thanks mom!

This one made me cry. One of my favorite "poems" is 100 years from now. It basically says it wont matter what kind of house I had, etc. but maybe I will have made the difference in the life of a child. I am so proud that you want to do that,

Aw I'm sorry grandma!

Thank you!

I am so enjoying reading about your experiences so far! I LOVE the clammobiles!

I so admire your desier to make Disney your career. I got a late start to my WDW visits (I was 31 on my first visit) and wish I could have done the college program! My DS14 is looking forward to the CP program and hopefully later being an imagineer (he wants to be an architect or engineer and build rides!).

Can't wait to hear more!

Thank you! They are pretty great!

That's awesome! There are so many opportunities for growth at Disney! They also offer a lot of cool programs for future engineers or imagineers!

You will get an update today!

Name Tag... I swear I just want to somehow work legit for even one hour in the parks JUST so I can have a name tag.

Awww I love that interaction with the little boy on the Monorail. Super sweet.

Drunken cucumber! I sense a Danielle influence...

Caitlin, that is so fantastic that you want to make Disney your career. I've always said that CM's are what make all the difference, so I get excited when hear this. :yay:

It is a cool perk!

It was a very cute moment!

It was by her recommendation!

Thank you! I know how much of a difference they can make in a vacation and I take my role very seriously!

All caught up! Congrats on working at Nemo and Turtle Talk. We took the kids through there during our last trip this past April and we had such a great interaction. It honestly was one of my favorite memories. And of course who doesn't love the Nemo Ride?? My 2 year old son was recently diagnosed with Autism and this was one of his FAVORITE rides. So, both attractions hold a very special place in my heart!

Also, thanks so much for sharing the GF info has well. We put my son on a GF diet at the end of 2013 and it has helped him so much, so it's very helpful reading about the different places that have GF items.

Thanks for sharing your journey with all of us! I'm definitely along for the ride! :)

That is so sweet! I am glad you have good memories of it!

If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask!

Thank you for joining along!

Thank you! It really did!

I am so happy I was not disappointed :rotfl: I had very high hopes for working at Disney and my expectations have definitely been exceeded! Thank you!

I will do my best!

I would love to meet you! I am sure I will be working!

Thank you!

Is it like your intro to your new boss?

I plan on using this for my PI so I cannot post any Disney secrets :rotfl:

Congrats! That really makes it official, doesn't it?

It does!

Of course you will.
I have no doubt.

Aww thank you! :flower3:

 Of course! Mustn't forget the margaritas!

Of course not!

Oy. Might be quicker to get a bike?

We aren't allowed to have them and we really aren't that close to the parks.

Who wouldn't talk to you?
While we've never met, I imagine you to be very approachable.

Aw I appreciate that!

Wait.
Go back.

You get to see this.
Every. Day. On your way to work.

Yep! My walk takes me across the central part of the park. I love seeing everyone just starting out their day and the excitement they are feeling!

And I honestly believe you.
Others have already mentioned it, but it doesn't surprise me one bit.

Thank you!

A worthy goal. :worship:

How are things going at Nemo? What have you been assigned to do there thus far?

Yep!

They are going very well. There is a rotation for the ride which consists of 13 different tasks so I usually go through about 5 a shift.

How is it going? Sounds like you are getting along with your roommates so far. What have you done so far at work and play? Any DIS meets so far?
:surfweb::surfweb: Waiting to hear more while working on my January trip and maybe pre-trip report.

It is going very well... I am trying to :rolleyes1

You will find out soon!

I am writing an update now!

That's very cute!

May 24-27

For most of these days I was in training not only at the Seas but in classes at Disney University as well. My saving grace was a lot of

I don't know what I would do without some coffee!

When I wasn't in work I was mainly by the pool or working out.

Most of my days were spent in class so it didn't leave a ton of time to be at the parks.

On my Discovery Day, another day I can't quite get in to but it happened at Epcot, I stayed a little bit longer to take a walk of the World Showcase and get lunch!

I decided on the Mexican CS and had my favorite nachos!

I also had a beautiful view of the lagoon!

The next day was the 27 and I was able to go to a park on this day! I had been talking to Kat (katt789) about meeting up but I had a mission first. I wanted to ride the Mine Ride! At this point almost all of my friends had been on it so I definitely wanted to ride it! It opened the next day but I had plans with Sean and couldn't get anyone in to a park yet so I figured today was the best time!

I started off my morning by going to Port Orleans French Quarter

I really wanted some gluten free beignets!

They did not disappoint! They were so delicious!!

I then caught a bus from there to Magic Kingdom. When I arrived the line for the Mine Train was only 75 minutes, which isn't that bad, so I hopped in line.

Being a CM we don't get to pre-book our FPs so I was a bit afraid of going and trying to make one and not being able to get on for the MR and having a longer wait :rolleyes2

The line was very cute though and there are a ton of fans out so the heat is not an issue!

You get to see the Dwarfs' house!

There is also an interactive portion to the Q with a jewel section which was down but you can see the jewels in the cement!

Water section

Your entrance in to the vault!

and this barrel section when you spin the barrel a little video of one of the Dwarfs shows on the ceiling and it's everyone dancing! If you spin all the barrels at once you get to see a special princess :thumbsup2

It was time for me to board the ride and let me tell you it did not disappoint! The fact that it's a dark ride and a roller coaster is really cool! It doesn't go super fast so most people should be able to ride it. You really do need to ride it once though in order to see the amazing animatrons! It's such a cool experience! I was definitely singing along!

Be sure to check inside the house when you are stopped before you head in to unload!:thumbsup2

After MR it was time for me to head out and meet up with Kat and one of her friends from home. My phone died right after I got to DHS so I just sat around waiting for them. They were busy riding TSM so once they were done they headed over and we went to get a drink at 50s!

Kat and I both had Dad's Electric Lemonades which are the best things ever! We all just walked through the park and traded pins for a bit and talked about my experience thus far. No pictures were taken though so you can decide whether my count should be at 6 :lmao:

It was cool meeting Kat though and even though we didn't spend a ton of time together it was a nice meet!

After that I just headed back to the apartment and relaxed! I had plans for tomorrow which included crossing something off my DCP bucket list!

OMG! Those nachos!!!!! I am not a fan of nachos normally, but I love the ones in Mexican pavilion! Sounds like you are still having fun! I loved my Disney University class! It is honestly so much fun!

I'm so jealous you got to ride the mine ride before us but at least we get to live these things vicariously through you :)

When I wasn't in work I was mainly by the pool or working out.

Ah. The hard life.
How on earth do you cope?

Oh, right. The coffee. :lmao:

I decided on the Mexican CS and had my favorite nachos!

Those look good. And no gluten, I guess?

I really wanted some gluten free beignets!

They did not disappoint! They were so delicious!!

We stayed at POR... visited POFQ... but never had any!
Can you believe it?

I then caught a bus from there to Magic Kingdom. When I arrived the line for the Mine Train was only 75 minutes, which isn't that bad, so I hopped in line.

Only at Disney would anyone say that 75 minutes to wait for a ride is not bad.

The ride looks pretty good.
Would you say the ride is more suitable to young children?
Or more like BTMRR?

Kat and I both had Dad's Electric Lemonades which are the best things ever!

Better than a PB&J shake?

After that I just headed back to the apartment and relaxed! I had plans for tomorrow which included crossing something off my DCP bucket list!

That sounds intriguing. Thanks for posting! :goodvibes

Just caught up on the last two updates. I'm not surprised you want to make a career out of Disney. I would have loved it too. Your story about the little boy opening up to you was so sweet. The mine train sound great. Can't wait to ride it in another week!

Great update!! Don't you hate it when your phone dies?

Thank you!

It's the worst! I now have to take my charger everywhere with me!

OMG! Those nachos!!!!! I am not a fan of nachos normally, but I love the ones in Mexican pavilion! Sounds like you are still having fun! I loved my Disney University class! It is honestly so much fun!

They are sooo good!

I am having a good time!

It was alright :rotfl: a little boring though..

I'm so jealous you got to ride the mine ride before us but at least we get to live these things vicariously through you :)

I'm sorry! We will ride it in August!

Ah. The hard life.
How on earth do you cope?

Oh, right. The coffee. :lmao:

It's tough being me! :rotfl2:

Those look good. And no gluten, I guess?

Nope or else you would have read about how I got sick at Epcot :rotfl:

We stayed at POR... visited POFQ... but never had any!
Can you believe it?

You need some!

Only at Disney would anyone say that 75 minutes to wait for a ride is not bad.

This is very true!

The ride looks pretty good.
Would you say the ride is more suitable to young children?
Or more like BTMRR?

More suitable to children.

Better than a PB&J shake?

Not by much!

That sounds intriguing. Thanks for posting! :goodvibes
