Food and Wine? Sounds Divine! An October TR - 12/2 A PTR Link!

Lots of workers, but not much working. I guess a lot of them were training?

And people give us state workers a bad rap. :sad2:

Doesn’t the castle look so small compared to Cinderella’s Castle? Still pretty though.

(spoiler) That was our first thought when we saw it, too! My daughter actually said, "That's it?" :rotfl2:

Turns out he really did like the shirt once he tried it on, so we’re both happy. Now he'll have this shirt, his orange churro shirt AND a Mickey holding a churro shirt, compliments of Phil(:goodvibes) for our January trip.

3 shirts for 7 days? :scared:

DH suggested…IASW. Whoa. He hates that ride. But it was right around the corner from the Toontown gate and the wait was less than 5 minutes so it seemed like the right thing to do.

What was in that coffee?:confused3

He turned to me, his face completely white and said, “I forgot to park the car!” At first I thought he was joking, but could tell seconds later he was totally serious. Apparantely, I had thought he went to move the car when he left the luggage with me, but he ended up using the restroom. Probably shouldn’t have assumed he went to move the car. Dumb move on my part.

:scared1:

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Like my Snow White phone cover?

Very macho!:thumbsup2

Could you imagine if this happened anywhere but Disney?! Our car would have been stolen for sure. Even though we laugh about it now, it was a crazy way to start the morning!

At least now you have a good story!

really enjoying the Disneyland updates! I cannot wait to go there one day :cloud9: .. love your Disney shirt btw!

That Starbucks looks fun.. I think I read that the new one at WDW Downtown Disney has a 'living wall', which shows the DL store live!

Glad the car was ok too:cutie:

Emma x

Thanks Emma! Target is one of the main places I get my Disney shirts. I also got a really cool Star Wars shirt there but i'll be saving it for our January WDW trip.

No way?! I'll have to check out the info on the WDW store! That is really neat.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Oh my gosh! You left the car!! LOL! That is seriously funny, only bc it was at Disney and they are too amazing and valet parked it for you, crisis averted!!!

The castle really does look so small! And main st usa seems so short! Poor Aurora, she ain't got nothin' on Cindy! ;)

Can you believe that?! I thought I would be more freaked out/mad, but I was pretty calm. Maybe because it was Disney and the car was probably safe, but for that first few seconds, it was hectic.

Oh my goodness!!!! :lmao: I hate to laugh but that is too funny! Good idea on your part to think of calling them. Did your boat mates say anything?

Love that you were too excited to sleep and finally woke up DH.

GCH is so gorgeous!

I was trying to converse quietly enough so that the couple in front of us couldn't hear us for two reasons. 1) our predicament was soooo embarrassing and 2) they really seemed into the ride! They didn't hear us once. The music is pretty loud in there anyway and they were talking to each other and both taking lots of pics so we were in the clear thank goodness:rotfl:

Yes and BAWHAHAHAHAHA :lmao: OMG! I am rolling at the story of your abandoned car! That is so funny and I can only imagine the panic. So glad everything turned out OK.

Your Julia Roberts vein?

Is the castle REALLY that much smaller. Yes - it looks somewhat smaller in pictures but I guess I'll really be able to judge for myself until I go there.

:rotfl: That's the perfect word, abandoned! Doesn't it look like we're all high and mighty. "Leave the car dear, someone will tend to it eventually." :lmao:

I don't think i've ever noticed how prominent that vein was before...well I guess the only time that vein would pop out is from attempts of pulling swords out or on the thrown :rolleyes1

Hi lady! I haven't commented in a while and I am so so sorry about that.

That is a really nice looking Starbucks.

There was one year where I spent a week in WDW with my brothers and then flew out to California and spent a week in Disneyland with my parents. Nothing emphasizes the size difference between the two more than seeing them literally a day apart!

:lmao: Your Julia Roberts vein. You're so funny.

Oh my goodness, he left the car in front of the GCH. I'm sorry, that's hysterical.

I'm glad the car was okay though. You're totally right, had that been anywhere else, the car would have been gone lickity split.

Danielle!!! :hyper:

Oh totally! Because of the order of your trip, i'm sure you were so disappointed in the size. Would be better if you start out at DLR first then go to the MK! Our castle is so puny.

Don't be sorry, it's so hilarious! I told him how I had just updated on that part and he was shaking his head and laughing.

Hi there Alicia! Getting caught up here! I'm enjoying your anniversary mini TR and you are only 1 whole day into it! Oh man, I love Lucille's BBQ. Those biscuits with apple butter are so delish!

Oh my gosh! The car!!! That moment when you realize the car is still parked in front of the hotel. :scared1: You're right, anywhere but Disney it wouldn't last that long. It could have been worse, he could have had his keys in his pocket.

Congratulations on the arrival of your nephew! Awwww your DH has baby lust! There's only one cure for that....

Lucille's is so yummy! And the sauces are awesome too.

Exactly! We (he rather) would have had to run to the GCH if he had the keys on him. Ugh, that really would have sucked!

When you say cure, you mean a swift slap in the face right?! ;):lmao:

Congrats on becoming an aunt. He is adorable. You always get baby fever when you hold a newborn..lol. Loved reading your updates just now. It's so nice to hear of friendships started from this site. My husband would love that car.

Must have been nice to get away for a few days also. It's hard to leave the little one but much needed. . Great start to your mini TR.

You're already leaving next month!

I haven't held a baby since DS so it was so weird to think he was that small at one point. So crazy!

Good job getting there so early! That Starbucks looks really nice. Do they have a clover machine there? I love those - granted the coffee from them is like $12 bucks but soooo good.

You are right with how small Sleeping Beauty Castle looks down Main St when you are used to Cinderella's Castle - but looks lovely when you are closer.

Love the look of the outside of IASW at DL!

Oh my gosh I would have been freaking out about the car! Glad it got sorted out though and wasn't a big deal ... wonder what that couple sitting in front of you was thinking only hearing bits and pieces of the conversation

I had no idea what a clover machine was so I googled it..holy cow! The process is pretty amazing. I'm going to have to try and find a store that has that machine. I bet the taste is phenomenal!

The feel is so cozy and comfortable (and crowded!) at Disneyland but the look at the MK is way more impressive.

We were doing our best not to disturb the couple in front of us. First, it's so embarrassing, but they were clearly into IASW. They were taking pictures of everything and pointing at things. Maybe it was their first time but they never turned around once. What I'm wondering, is what the CM said to the other CM's once he got off the phone with DH..."Another crazy guest got too excited about being here and left their car again!" :rotfl:

(spoiler) That was our first thought when we saw it, too! My daughter actually said, "That's it?" :rotfl2:

:lmao: I'm so looking forward to reading about that portion of your trip. It's definitely not as impressive as Cindy's castle. It's sometimes a huge disappointment, even for DH and I, when we get back from a WDW trip and visit DL and see the castle, we're like

3 shirts for 7 days? :scared:

Don't worry, i'll be sure to pack at least 10 more...did I just discover my packing issue?!:lmao:

What was in that coffee?

Obviously something phenomenal that turns ones 'eh' attitude to an intensely excitable state...I also added an extra shot of espresso to his iced coffee when he wasn't standing by me:rolleyes1

It was a complete moment of panic for me for a few seconds but that obviously wore off since I was able to operate a camera to commemorate this event.:rotfl:

Very macho!:thumbsup2

He definitely owns it!

At least now you have a good story!
For the rest of our lives:lmao:

Woo Hoo! 3 shirts for DH. :thumbsup2

He left the car parked outside GC???? And then had to call from inside IaSW??? :rotfl2:
I wonder if that will go down on some CM list? :rotfl:

Too excited to sleep! So I got ready and made a little extra noise around 6:45 to start waking DH…by jumping on the bed!
A year or so from now, you'll be yelling at Calvin to stop jumping on the bed... :rolleyes1

The store really is cool! I worked for Starbucks for 7 years
Uh oh... that makes me feel bad for making fun of Starbucks in Kathy's TRs. :worried:

Ok, not really. :rotfl:

Lots of workers, but not much working.
That's a fairly common problem these days. :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

Now he'll have this shirt, his orange churro shirt AND a Mickey holding a churro shirt, compliments of Phil(:goodvibes) for our January trip.
The collection is growing. And I really like the Millennium Falcon shirt.

While in the first ‘scene’ of IASW, I just randomly started thinking and had a strong urge to ask DH about the car. He turned to me, his face completely white and said, “I forgot to park the car!”

That whole story is funny. I mean, I know it wasn't funny right then at that moment. But given the fact that it wasn't that big of a deal and they moved it to valet for you, it is hilarious. :rotfl::rotfl2::lmao:

Pictures were an absolute necessity at this point.
Ok, obviously you did realize the comedy of this situation as it was going down. :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

Like my Snow White phone cover?
::yes::

Such a crazy story right?! Oh and we've got to be on some list probably called the "Dopey Guest List"...sigh :lmao:

A year or so from now, you'll be yelling at Calvin to stop jumping on the bed... :rolleyes1

Exactly and he'll have learned that from his momma:rolleyes1

Uh oh... that makes me feel bad for making fun of Starbucks in Kathy's TRs. :worried:

Ok, not really. :rotfl:

Now I need to know what you said. Was it about us too happy baristas? Or the overpriced coffee?! Or both?!:upsidedow

That's a fairly common problem these days. :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

Sheesh, it's not just Starbucks anymore.

The collection is growing. And I really like the Millennium Falcon shirt.

I think he's happy we found something that wasn't over the top Disney. It's a great balance that i'm willing to work with :thumbsup2

I really was laughing while taking the pictures! At first I was nervous/scared and since there was nothing I could do at that point, my attitude totally changed and thought this must be a first for them :lmao:

Now I need to know what you said. Was it about us too happy baristas? Or the overpriced coffee?! Or both?!:upsidedow
Oh... I don't even know where to start with the things I've said. :rotfl2: I'm just not a coffee drinker. At all. Starbucks or otherwise. So yeah, the overpriced coffee part usually gets thrown around, as does the frequency of Starbucks appearances in her TRs. I'm referring to KatMark, by the way. For some reason I thought you posted on each others' TRs, but I think I was wrong.

You just need to find a T-shirt that looks like this...

:rotfl2::lmao: I understand. I've gotten a few customers who have expressed those same feelings to me...while in the store...purchasing a non-coffee beverage that's over $5. :scratchin

I think i've seen her on a few TR's but haven't actually 'met' her yet.

OHHH!:cool1: Yes and yes! My SIL had given DS a Mickey with a Giants jersey on it that included a blanket that looks similar to the one you posted. Now, if I could get a Mickey shirt with both Giants and Packers, DH would be all over it :hyper:

Oh my goodness
The car story made me chuckle - mainly because you were taking photos of DH on IASW whilst he was trying to get it fixed ! :-)

I'm glad that it all worked out. As a Starbuck's Junkie, I understand. However, if I can get coffee for free (like in the lobby of my hotel) I'm not payin' for Starbucks. All week, I've had free coffee, so I haven't had but one Starbucks in the past week. I'm sure tomorrow that will change as we have a three hour drive back to Columbus to catch our plane home.

I'm glad I'll be back home soon because I can keep up with your TR for the next day. I already have my pictures in PB and I'm ready to chime, in. I think it's about time for my cameo! :thumbsup2

I'm standing in line behind Alison here waiting to see your next posts! I'm sure you found something interesting to do with your day. :) I finally posted our meet up in my TR.

Oh wow what a story!!!!! Thank heavens you thought to ask him about it and thank heavens you were at Disney. Whew!!!!!

I worked for starbucks for 13 years, the California universal city walk one was part of my group towards the end and I think they did a lovely job with the DTD one in Cali.

I'm here and enjoying your thread already! ;)

Yay hi Bonnie!:wave2:

This is true. I could technically 'survive' with regular hotel coffee. But some is just absolute vile. I need the real stuff the majority of the time! And it doesn't even have to be Starbucks. It could be McD's or Coffee Bean. Actually before Starbucks in DTD, the Haagen Dazs store serves Peets which tasted really great before heading into the parks.

Agh, sorry i'm behind! Hopefully on Monday.

I'm standing in line behind Alison here waiting to see your next posts! I'm sure you found something interesting to do with your day. :) I finally posted our meet up in my TR.

:rotfl2: You know Brenda, at the rate i'm going, it will be at least 2 weeks before we get to our meet! Yay i'll head on over:cool1:

Thank goodness I went with my gut feeling to ask him about it. It probably would have been towed had we not called!

Wow 13 years! Were you a SM?

:rotfl2: About the car! I'm glad it worked out well :thumbsup2

I think DL's castle is more "charming" while MK's is more "impressive".

I like the shirts! I actually saw the one you’re wearing at Target earlier this summer and thought about getting it – super cute! And I’m glad you found something that DH would wear – Star Wars is always a winner here! :thumbsup2

Wow, he wanted to do It’s a Small World?! Maybe seeing Calvin enjoy it has changed his opinion? (Though, after this ride, I guess you’ll have very different memories associated with it). :rotfl:

Cannot believe you forgot the car!! :scared1: I can totally see something like that happening to us, though. So glad it all worked out fine. This is one of those moments where you just have to remind yourself that it will make for a fun Trip Report update! ::yes::

awww.. Congrats on your nephew Luke!!! I know so many people who just gave birth or are preggo. I think it's hard not to get the baby fever but it's cute whenever a guy has it. I am trying SO hard not to have it but its hard when my bf and I are trying to decide if two is good for us or if we want to add one more. aughh.. decisions.. decions, lol.

Yes you are very correct on the castle differences. Those are the best words to describe them! :thumbsup2

I tried convincing DH to work at Target during the Summer's when he's off, so I can get a discount on Disney shirts, but no-go.

You're probably right! He really enjoys taking DS on IASW but now, we're going to have very mixed feelings on this ride! :lmao:

I was thinking that the whole time while taking pictures. "This is perfect for a TR! Drama is fun!" :rotfl:

Thank you! On Monday, my friend gave birth to her little girl and then yesterday my best friend had her daughter after 31 hours of labor. :scared1: We want another one maybe in a year or two. I'm seeing how hard it was through the eyes of my SIL and am like, phew glad it's not me! :lmao:

After our rather frenzied ride (and knowing our car was safe in valet!), we thought we’d try and hit Toontown again. It was only a few minutes until opening and waited. We saw Mickey, Minnie and Goofy approaching the gate

They opened the gates moments later and headed straight to Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin

If you haven’t been on this ride, it’s a must. The queue is very impressive but because Toontown had just opened, there was no wait, so no getting to look around.

Can’t make this out. Maybe you can

After Roger Rabbit, I suggested doing something that we hadn’t done in a LONG time. In fact, I’m not sure we have ever been on this together. But there was no wait, so why not. Gadget’s Go Coaster! DH didn’t want to because we ‘had no kid with us’ and that would be ‘embarrassing’. Uh, dude you wanted to get on Peter Pan and Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride earlier :confused3…sooo…we’re getting on.

View from the top

The wait for this ride is normally crazy, like 30 minutes for a 40 second ride. So this is something we just don’t do. I think DS will have fun when he’s tall enough, so the next time we’ll ride is when he’s able to.

The big plan for today (which BTW, was not leaving our car up for grabs! :faint:) was to meet up with our friend Alison. She has a friend who is a Club 33 member and with his membership includes some guided tours that need to be used by a certain time. He offered up a tour to Alison and when she found out we would be coming, asked if we would be interested. Which my reply was of course YES!

We were to meet up with Alison at the front of the park at 10am and as it was only around 9:30 at this point so we thought we’d browse the shops on Main Street to see if my DM’s birthday present would be here.

It was and I asked to make sure it would be at the WoD store so I didn’t have to carry it around all day. Yep it was. So we continued on browsing and thought we’d go a little early to see if Alison had arrived yet.

DH wanted to take some pictures of me for some reason

And no that is not a pee puddle under me. Hmm, maybe I was really excited after all!:lmao:

Just hanging out

Alison showed up a few minutes to 10 and we had to immediately tell her about our car drama and she just laughed at us! We met our guide, who was super nice and started on our way to Tomorrowland

I didn’t take many pictures at this point because I was busy chatting away with Alison. We did go on Star Wars first and no one from our party was the spy. Drat! One day, someone in my party will get it. But we did get Kashyyyk and the Death Star so that made up for it.

Since we were right around the corner from SM, that was a no brainer

:rotfl2:I love how Alison looks in this picture!

After SM, we made our way over to the Matterhorn but it was closed at that moment, so thought we’d check out the BTMRR situation. On our way, we found a great picture spot so snatched up that opportunity

I kicked DH to the curb for a girls only pic

And onto BTMRR we went!

cont. from previous post

I haven’t been on this since they upgraded the ride and OMGOSH it’s amazing! The special effects are absolutely incredible! One scene, I think where it used to be the rocks coming down like you are about to be caved in, got changed to exploding dynamite and it totally took me by surprise and made me jump! Very cool.

Our next stop was the Haunted Mansion

I’m so glad Alison was here because she took my ‘good’ camera and adjusted it so I can take pictures in the dark. I’m still trying to figure out my DSLR, even though I’ve had it since 2009.

I tried to get a decent shot of the dining room but this was the best I got

I did manage to get the bride…my favorite scene!

This could have been really good if I wasn’t moving and had my camera on a tripod

After the HM, DH was ‘dying’ for a churro. He needs one on every trip. Happened to catch him mid-bite as Alison was looking on in disgust! :rotfl: don’t think she’s a fan of churros!

Next stop was PotC but they had shut down too. Second ride that was having issues today. So we thought we’d grab some lunch right next door at the French Market. I think this is the only restaurant at Disneyland that we’ve never been too, so I was excited to try it.

The one thing I love about eating with DIS’ers is that we don’t have to explain why we’re taking pictures. There’s a mutual agreement about allowing others to take pictures of their food and I love it!

I ordered the Red Beans and Rice with Andouille Sausage

It was delicious! In fact, so delicious I’m making this tomorrow night for dinner and I’m super excited about it. DH ended up really liking it too. Alison took a small bite as well.

DH ordered the Po Boy Sandwich – Marinated Shrimp Salad tossed in a Creole Mustard Sauce, Arugula and Tomatoes and served chilled on a toasted Lobster Roll with Slaw and Fruit

He poured a whole bunch of those cute little tabasco packets they have and devoured it.

Alison ordered the Cajun Meatloaf – A blend of Beef, Turkey, Pork and Andouille Sausage, Smashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables and Worchestershire Cream sauce

I think she enjoyed but was unable to finish it. I should have stolen a bite. The meatloaf combination sounds interesting and delicious!

These guys were just leaving for a break as we started to dig in. Probably for the best as it would have been loud.

Belly’s full, we thought we’d try our luck again at PotC.

Yep up and running!

The rest of my PotC pictures didn’t come out very good. I still need to figure out how to use my camera I guess!

I asked Alison about seeing Mickey and the Magical Map, because we hadn’t seen it and heard it was really cute and she hadn’t seen it in a while so we started making our way to the Fantasyland Theater…but first thought we’d take a look and see if the Matterhorn was running. It was!

Thought these lanterns looked pretty cool

Alison really enjoys this ride. She’s crazy! We only ride if there is less than a 10 minute wait (which is never!) because of how jerky it is and the seats are so low and uncomfortable. She ‘claims’ the right side is less jerky than the left so we took that side, but oh man. If that is smooth, I’ll never attempt the left side. EVER!
