Cool update. Looks like great drinks at the Cove Bar.

Thanks for circling Goofy. I keep meaning to catch that show.....but I keep missing it. :headache:

You guys are so mean to DB :rotfl:

Yes, that must be the reason DH loses, the gun is broken.... love that you got pictures of him explaining!

Goofy is too cute. I came across that show on accident and really enjoyed it.

I had left out something on my last update. Another reason we had bailed on Disneyland so early because a certain someone was hankering for an alcoholic beverage :rolleyes1
Well, it is vacation.

He. Was. TICKED. And I was :dance3::yay:
Well, of course... :lmao:

And it’s always the same excuse every single time. “I don’t understand! I’m pulling the string back all the way and nothing shoots out of the gun!” And every time I tell him that he needs to make sure he pulls it all the way back  I think next time we go on this ride, I’m going to ‘make sure’ that his gun is working so he can admit defeat once and for all without an excuse.
Is he forgetting to release and pull again. It isn't an automatic rifle or anything. :rolleyes1

DH had ordered something similar to this a long time ago and was hooked. They changed the recipe recently but it’s still delicious. I ordered one also
Ok, I've got to know about this. Looks good, but I'm not exactly sold on the "hint of Hickory Smoke." How exactly do they add a hint of hickory smoke to a drink and how did it taste? It just doesn't look like it fits with some of the other flavors in that drink. :confused3

And being the mature adults that we are, we pointed and laughed
:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl: Perfect response! :thumbsup2

The Cove Bar is awesome! Good drinks and appetizers and unbeatable view!!! The service there used to be really meh but it's gotten better my last couple of visits :thumbsup2

I totally suck at Toy Story Mania but I still have fun ... and I offer no excuses :rotfl2:

I totally missed that little interaction at the Cove Bar with your brother!

I remember that your DH wanted a drink and we found out that you can walk around with Beer or wine, but not hard alcohol, so he settled for TSMM and CA Screamin'. By the time we had gone on both of those I was so tired from all the adrenaline rushes that I was ready to sit down and have a drink too.

But first the score pictures. I'm always a Beaver. :rotfl2:

Yes, you got the drink right, a Belvedere Gibson Up.

I'm not such a big Whiskey fan so I liked my drink better than yours.

And Goofy giving his concert....

Refreshed from our beverages, we were off to RSR!

There's one in every crowd.

And in the end the final score….

He. Was. TICKED. And I was :dance3::yay:

You should be! Nice work!:cool1:

I hate those pull-string guns. I suck at them. But at least I can admit it. :rolleyes1

Hickory smoke?:confused3 Is this a drink or a bbq sauce?

That cherry drink looked delicious. What a scenic place to take a break. And goofy conducting the concert with the water - how cute! For some reason this update in particular has me desperate to go back to Disneyland. Or maybe it's just me having Disney withdrawal pangs :rolleyes1

Great update! The Cove Bar looks amazing. I'll have to check that out for sure next summer!!

You definitely should! Such a fun place.

I laughed so hard at the pic of your DH "explaining" to you why he got a lower score than you on TSMM! That would totally be my DH if that happened...but he always beats me. I ride with one of our sons, and he rides with the other but we always compare scores afterwards. He always beats my score. But it never bothers me...but I'm sure if it was reversed it would get to him a little bit, lol.

He is the worst sport when it comes to games. Other guys, no problem. But me or other girls, nope!

We definitely have to meet up. I booked a suite at the Desert Palms Hotel & Suites July 26-August 1, 2015. It's very close to the parks so we will walk there, and it has free hot breakfasts, parking and wifi. The best time to meet up for us would probably be closer to the end of our trip, once the rest of the family heads to San Francisco. They're checking out July 30th. Maybe we could do lunch or dinner in DTD.

You guys will love being so close to the main crosswalk. I've stayed there 3 times and really like it. And i'm writing the dates you gave Alison (July 30 or 31 right?) Hopefully Alison would be able to meet up as well! Would be lots of fun!:)

Yeah, he's kind of hard to see! I never even knew about the show so it was a fun surprise for me.

Aren't we though!?:rotfl2:

Yes, that must be the reason DH loses, the gun is broken.... love that you got pictures of him explaining!

I feel like I have many photos of him losing on this ride!

Well, it is vacation.

Indeed!

Is he forgetting to release and pull again. It isn't an automatic rifle or anything.

:rotfl2: He so knows that he's doing it correctly.

Ok, I've got to know about this. Looks good, but I'm not exactly sold on the "hint of Hickory Smoke." How exactly do they add a hint of hickory smoke to a drink and how did it taste? It just doesn't look like it fits with some of the other flavors in that drink.

I didn't get a smokey taste at all! It does sound strange doesn't it? I don't know but the balance between strong and sweet was perfect.

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl: Perfect response! :thumbsup2

Thanks!

I agree! Although this time our server was a bit slow, it wasn't much to fret over. We all had a good time relaxing!

:rotfl: I like your honesty!

Once a beaver, always a beaver! :rotfl:
I think it was when we told you to go ahead and we'd wait for the server to come back was when we did that with DB.

I'm actually really stoked that I said your drink correctly!:hyper:

You got much better Goofy shots than I did.

You should be! Nice work!:cool1:

It's a rarity when I can beat DH at something, so I smiled a little brighter that day!

I hate those pull-string guns. I suck at them. But at least I can admit it. :rolleyes1

Honesty is the best policy after all.

Hickory smoke?:confused3 Is this a drink or a bbq sauce?

Right?! Andy inquired too, and I really didn't get a smokey flavor at all! It was really delicious though. And refreshing. And a little strong.

:rotfl2:

....do you hear that....

It's DLR telling you to come out and play, but over at DCA next time:lmao: But you really do. I think your DH would really enjoy this park. To me, it has a more 'laid back' feel to it, but is packed with fun stuff to do.

I thought that this hotel was on the corner of Katella and Harbor but perhaps I was mistaken. I should be free on these days!

Strong drinks seemed to be the key for the day!

Okay, trying to catch up here as well .....

Love the start of your DL trip! And riding around in that golf cart looks like fun, but scary in all that LA traffic. :scared1:

Congratulations on your new nephew! He is CUTE!!!!

OMG that forgotten car in front of the GC lobby sounds so funny. And to remember it at IASW. :lmao: Your poor DH having to explain with the music in the background. Not funny for him, but sure a fun read.

That tour you took looks awesome, so many fun rides and may I say that the French Market food looks really good too!

Thanks for the tip of the Cove bar, need to check it out and made a note for our trip to CA, which unfortunately seems to be pushed back further and further.

And with that I can say, that I am all caught up here! :goodvibes

Alison .... that car is AWESOME! I need to show it to Tom later today, he loves those kind of cars!!!!!!!!

I thought that this hotel was on the corner of Katella and Harbor but perhaps I was mistaken. I should be free on these days!

Ramada Maingate is on the corner I believe. I think there are 3 hotels right in front of the main crosswalk: Tropicana, Best Western Mini and Desert Inn.

Awesome! We'll keep in touch for those dates then:)

Strong drinks seemed to be the key for the day!

Karin! So glad to see your back safe from all that vacationing you and Tom did!

Luckily, we weren't doing any type of freeway driving with that golf cart:rotfl: That definitely would have been frightening!

Congratulations on your new nephew! He is CUTE!!!!

Thank you so much!

:rotfl2: The music! You're absolutely right it was a little loud with the music in there!

It really was delicious. You'll have to try it when you come back out this way. Are you still thinking 2015 or has that been pushed back?

Thanks for the tip of the Cove bar, need to check it out and made a note for our trip to CA, which unfortunately seems to be pushed back further and further.

Oops, now I see you've answered my question  Hopefully you guys can come out sooner than later. I'd love to see you two!

You must have a bigger zoom lens. :lmao:

Hey! You are not dissin' my little Sony cybershot right in front of me are you? :lmao:

I've been away the past 2 weeks. Not really away, but more involved with something other than my computer. Our TV.

We recorded every single episode. All 552. This was all DH's idea and he wanted it badly so we ended up erasing everything on the DVR to make room for this. Currently, we have only 263 episodes remaining. Anyone else here been participating in this extravaganza?!

So there's my excuse for why i've been away. But now i'm all caught up again on everyone's TR's and now finally an update!

Refreshed from our drinks, off we went to check out Radiator Springs Racers

Celebrity sighting! Well, athlete sighting. Same difference for DH.

It's pretty common to see celebs here at DL with their families and friends, but this one meant something to DH. While we were making our way through the queue, DH had spotted one of the San Francisco Giants old players, Juan Uribe (who now currently plays for the Dodgers:crazy2:) and was pretty star struck. He was explaining how much this guy had helped the Giants win the 2010 World Series and still liked him and respected him, even though he was a Dodger now. I didn’t want to be ‘that person’ who held their camera up to take a picture. He was with some kids and some older folks who may have been his parents. So I tried the next best thing. I tried to angle my camera toward him while strapped on my shoulder and got this

See that girl wearing the skinny jeans and sandals? His jean pant leg is behind her :lmao: I told him I tried at least.

I attempted to get another shot with his group in the background as we were leaving the boarding station so I ‘pretended' to take a picture of DH and me . But instead got this perfect shot

I should have angled the camera up way more. Thank goodness I don’t have a career in paparrazing!:rolleyes1

Back to the ride

This ride is SO cute, I love it! They did an amazing job with this attraction

As we were exiting the attraction area, some paramedics made their way through the exit. Hopefully whoever they were rushing to, ended up being okay. I’ve seen this a handful of times at both DLR and WDW and I always feel terrible for the person who is hurt or needs tending to.

We cut through Bug’s Land to our next adventure, ToT. Which BTW, years ago, there was no direct path from Bug’s Land to Tower of Terror. Check it out! If you were in Bug’s Land and wanted to ride ToT, you would have to walk all the way around through the Sunshine Plaza through the Backlot to ride.

Anyway, back to ToT. Our redneck photo!

We wanted to catch the 4:45 showing of Aladdin so we hung out and waited for a bit

I haven’t seen this show in a few years but it’s always FANTASTIC every time I see it. It’s definitely a must! The Genie is definitely the best part of the show. So funny and trendy.

We didn’t have to wait too long and soon were seated

I did manage a few crappy shots!

As our tour was coming to an end, we thought the perfect way to end was with some adult beverages! There are lots of nice spots to have drinks in DCA, but there was one place in particular we wanted to head…

Alison’s friend had come out at this point to see how the tour had went and thought we should do drinks at the 1901 Lounge. I got tons of pictures but he declined to be photographed as he likes to keep his identity private.

Oh! Before going inside to either the Carathay Restaurant or the lounge, try and find a hidden Mickey somewhere outside.

The lounge is so quiet and relaxing, with plenty of seating options

DH really liked looking at all the pictures

We were told to check the wall every once and a while and that we may catch a glimpse of Walt. It’s creepy, but cool at the same time! You see his shadow here, I barely caught it

This lamp was really cool

Alright onto the good stuff!

We went with the Queso Fundido and the Vietnamese Tacos (sorry no pics, just empty plate pictures that I’m sure you’re not interested in!)) and for drinks, I went with the Bloody Mary. It sounded yummy, even though it was 6 at night and not 6 in the morning

Alison had recommended the Carthay Manhattan to DH…huge mistake. He loved it!

And Alison had ordered the Carthay Martini

The process of making this drink is impressive and I’ll leave this part to Alison as she knows way more about it than I do. But I do know that the ice sphere can keep a drink cold up to 3 hours without watering down the drink! So cool.

Terrible picture

DH’s Manhattan came with an ice sphere as well

After our first round, we ordered another round, except I went with something different

The Double Pear Martini

Soooo delicious!

By the end of the second round, DH was getting cray cray. He was definitely feeling his drinks and you could tell:rotfl2: He gets extremely happy and giggly and was even more happy when Alison and him decided to go with a third round, but I think Alison had switched at this point to white wine. We had to have been there for at least 2 hours if not more.

I can't remember all the conversations we had but this was probably the highlight of the entire day for DH and I. While the tour and getting on rides was fun, it was so nice to have some amazing drinks with an awesome friend and just talk for hours :goodvibes

Fun updates! Love all the drinks! And that lounge looks great!

I really want to ride the Radiator Springs Racers! One of these days we'll get to DL!

I love your guide on the Tower of Terror pic - she's like, "Yeah, I do this every day. Just another giant drop, la la la..." :rotfl:

Glad you guys had such a great time with a DIS friend!

You've got to make your way out here one day! You're already going past us in November. Too bad you couldn't extend that Hawaii trip to Hawaii/CA trip!

I know! I'm sure she's over all the rides at DLR.

We had lots of fun with Alison. She's always a blast to hang out with!

What fun what fun!!! I'd have tried not to be obvious with that celebrity too, bummer you didn't snag a photo. But that one of you on RSR is really cute.

That Genie is a riot! Really enjoyed that show.

Love that you spent time relaxing and chatting in the club. Perfect way to end a fabulous day.

YAY for another update. And what a fun one at that. Absolutely amazing lounge. Looks like you're enjoying the day. How cool to spot an idol. I would have really tried and failed to unobtrusively take a picture. We rarely get to celebrity spot here. But I don't want to intrude either. What a conundrum! :upsidedow

I'm not sure how much extra my pictures will add to your TR. The ones you got inside the ride were great! I really need to bring my DSLR out to the park on my next trip and see what I can do. Here's my version of our red neck photo.

I don't have any pictures from ToT, in fact I totally forgot that we rode it. But I do have some pictures from Aladdin.

Jafar and Iago scheming

Street Rat of Agraba

Princess Jasmine

So after Aladdin, we went over to the lounge for some more drinks. Since I’m tasked with explaining how the ice sphere machine works, I’ll do my best. There is no heating element in the ice sphere maker, it is just inertia and the heat generated from the metal. I believe that once she made my ice sphere she had one in the waiting to make DH’s drink as she said it would take 20 minutes to half an hour to warm back up to make another one.

Here’s my picture of your Bloody Mary.

Here is my Ice sphere.

And then both of our drinks. For the record, DH’s first words after taking a sip was, “That’s strong!” By the time that he was halfway through the drink, he was quite pleased with his drink. By the time he was on the third drink he was loving the fact that even though his ice sphere was reduced in size the new drink always was full to the top of his glass.

Though I do have to say that these are recycled pictures, here is the Queso Fundido.

And the Vietnamese Tacos

We had a great time talking, our guide stayed with us for a while and we had some good laughs talking about the wardrobe incident, and we talked for a while about many things. Eventually after finishing our drinks and food we headed out of the park and Alicia’s DH was really happy about moving the car from Valet to the regular parking. We hugged and that was the end of the evening for my day with them. It was a lot of fun and I hope that we can do it again sometime!
