Is there a post already started - or a superthread - about DCA Food and Wine 2017? Tried doing a search but not much comes up. Also tried googling and there isn't much info about it online for 2017. Is it too early to research it? Interested in finding out more about it. Thanks!

Disney hasn't even made an official announcement that it's gonna happen. They have announced a food & wine esque event for the Holiday Season 2016- but nothing else. No more info has been out out yet & Holiday Season starts in less than 3 weeks. I wouldn't anticipate 2017 F&W info for months :(

I started another thread but it must have been too early because it never took off: http://www.disboards.com/threads/dca-food-wine-2017.3542975/

Yeah, no announcement yet. Rumors on MiceChat and other boards say the first one was so successful that Disney is planning to make the 2017 F&W festival much bigger (and potentially longer). I wouldn't expect an announcement until after the holidays, but probably earlier than the 2016 announcement (which was in February).

But I've already booked a room in April hoping it will be roughly the same time frame. :)

Ok thank you! I'll just keep checking The Dis to wait and see an upcoming announcement :)

Would someone please explain the basic concept of F&W? I'm not familiar with it at all.

This year there were booths set up in DCA in April selling a variety of different food and alcohol items. They were all themed to California in some way (Wine Country, Gold Rush, etc.). There were also some demonstrations and celebrity chef appearances, I believe. That's the gist of it. I guess it used to be an annual event in DCA, then it was discontinued for some time, and this year it came back. That's why everyone is so uncertain of the details - Disney could continue it, change it, expand it, or drop it based on how it did in April, since it's not really established as an annual tradition yet.

In one word: Awesomeness.
In two words: Expensive Awesomeness.

When I went to the Epcot one (much larger version than what we had out here) the best source was the Disney Food Blog. Here's a link to their write up of last year's DCA festival: http://www.disneyfoodblog.com/about/disneys-california-food-and-wine-festival/
It includes menus and prices and photos!

If you decide to go my best advice (albeit from Epcot's F&W) is to review menus before going (so you're not full after a couple boothes), split plates & drinks with your traveling companions, and go with extra spending money because as you'll see from the menus prices aren't cheap.

I hope they expand the DCA one to be much bigger! F&W in WDW was so much fun & I want to see something similar out here in CA- after all, us Californians love our food and especially our wine!

Any news/rumors/speculation? My wife and I are planning on going, but are looking for specifics.

Last year it was announced just after Valentine's Day and started April 1st, with Easter on March 27th, so it was the tail end of Spring Break. This year Easter is on April 16th. Will it be the month of April again, or will it be earlier to bridge the gap between President's Day crowds and Spring Break crowds? If the booths stay up after Christmas/Lunar New Year, then that's a sign it might be earlier. But I don't expect to know for at least a month if it's even returning.
