Tracy, seeing as how I've led quite the sheltered life and have never ordered room service, can you please tell me what aprpopriately would be?

Normally when you order room service a gratuity is added based on the price of the food but since your food is free (a gratuity will be added for any items that would be charged like alcohol, soft drinks, chocolate covered strawberries), but for everything else I kind of base it on what was brought. When we ordered pastries and coffee in the morning we usually gave them $2-3. When we ordered dinner for 10, we gave them considerably more.

The guys talked about this on the new cruisers podcast segment the other day, if you want to go back and listen. We tipped $2-3 if it was a small order (like donuts and coffee or a Mickey Bar), $4-5 if they more stuff (like lunch), etc.

Good Morning everyone.

I think I have my plan for Nassau thanks to Nicole who got me looking.

Hit the straw market, find lunch then hit the pirate museum.

We went to the Pirate Museum. It was fun. I will post some photos later. It was $30 for 2 adults and 1 child. My son's favorite part was the cut outs you can stick your head through and get your picture taken. Also the braclets you wear are really cool. I am saving my to scrapbook, if I ever get to it.

Do post photos! Can't wait....

There are a few on tripadvisor, but the reviews are mixed. Looks like a neat place though, I enjoyed the similar one in Key West, but we didn't have kids with us.

I answered the door in my towel. I thought that was tip enough.:lmao: :rotfl:

I am uploading right now. We had fun there, but it did seem sort of expensive. There are a lot of signs that required reading and with a 4 year old that doesn't work well. They had a telescope you could look through and see a pirate ship. That was Michael's favorite part.

Okay.

I have been to Nassau and I can answer a few questions.

The Straw Market:
I don't think they take Credit, but I could be wrong. Basically this area is a big tent pretty close to the pier. When you go in this place be sure that you are holding your kids hands at all times. It is very compacted and there are many booths. Kids could easily get lost. We were not that impressed with the straw market, but it is not our thing.

I would walk over to the main street in Nassau, I can't remember the name and it is not very far, and find a restaurant or shops over there. Senor Frogs is more of a bar/club with a store.

We did not like Nassau so we are planning to stay on the ship. I don't want to discourage anyone, but we thought it was dirty and not very impressive.

Just my thoughts.

BTW,

This is what the water looks like down there:

Morning everyone :wave2:
I missed catching up yesterday as I was busy selling, or I should say trying NOT to sell a tractor on ebay.
yup, my account was stolen, and an auction I had going for a pair of kids boots turned into an auction for a tractor that was ending last night- and it had bids!:scared1:
I am sure it was the free shipping I was offering that made it so appealing, I am very generous that way with my tractors.
Anyway, live chat was initially not working, and after many hours of emailing people back that were asking where the tractor was, what the condition of it was, was it really free shipping? I was able to get onto live chat who deleted the auction for me before it ended!
So my words of wisdom are change your password on a regular basis- anddo not click on the questions that come to your email account- go through ebay directly.
Uggg-

On a thinner note-
I am day one of weight watchers. I made a deal with myself that 60 days from the cruise I will join again try and shed 10 lbs or so. So far so good, although I have only had breakfast

Did a little checking on google earth and it appears the walk to the straw market from port is at most 1/2 mile.

Here are some photos I took. It was fun, but sort of short. You could definitely take longer than we did. The boat inside the building was really cool, amazing detail. I also uploaded some photos of the courtyard. I think you might have been able to get in there without paying. It is just past the gift shop.

I'm with you! 60 days was my countdown and although I've lost 40 in the last year, I'm trying to drop 10 more. Today so far so good :)

It didn't seem that far, but I am sure that is right. It was an easy walk. We walked up to Parliment (I think that was that building) then to the Pirate Museum, then throught the Straw Market and back to the ship.

There is a Hard Rock also. I don't really like eating there, but I know others do.

Great pics! Thanks!

Did you go to Hershey Park? We loved it there, had a great trip in PA.

That distance was depending on where the ship was docked and how much walking you did on the docks. Could be half that if your docked closer.

Ugh, last night sucked! First Ethan woke up and came busting into our room at 2am with a crazy fever. Finally got him to take some medicine and stuck him in bed with us. Can someone tell me why children sleep the opposite direction in bed with their feet in your back?

Then at 4:15am Evan woke up with a fever. I got up again and gave him a bit of Tylenol for his teething and gave him a bottle. He fell asleep pretty quickly, and about an hour later he woke up again. UGH!

I am exhausted!

I hope they are doing better today!
I did not sleep very well last night too. I am very tired.
