First cruise. 3 day Wish vs 5 day Fantasy WWYD?

Thank you to all that replied. I will update how it all went and if I made the right choice.
Any Disney cruise is the right choice but longer is better. Pay attention to how you feel on your 3rd night and keep in mind that if you had stayed with the 3-night cruise, you would be leaving in the morning. I promise you will not be ready to leave by then! You will have just gotten acclimated to the ship and start finding your groove.
Enjoy your cruise! :goodvibes

Something like that may be in the navigator. Like 7A category. Still great cabin.
This isn’t a navigator so same cost as a verandahs without it. It’s these areas on the ship. That are every 6 rooms or so. I think the photo above might be worse than it actually is in person.

But it has the ceiling bed and that is a must for my son he says. Not many options left since the sailing is in April.

That’s interesting about the balcony. I assumed all of those were navigators, but there are a wide variety of balconies that I don’t know about. We were in a navigator once on the Magic and loved it, felt very private.
I think the fantasy is most people’s favorite ship, so it does book quickly. You and your family will love it. Make sure you don’t miss these suggestions:
1) find pepe’s door
2) midship detective agency
3) open house on all kids’ clubs
4) Currents Bar on deck 13 at night or at sunset
5) Cove Cafe
6) the dvc “party” with free blue cocktails. Last cruise there was a dvc member double fisting them lol.
7) pirate party. If your child is old enough make sure he (think you mentioned he?) does the flash mob.

On castaway
1) pelican plunge
2) snorkel to see Mickey and “shipwreck”

Copied all this to my notes! Thank you. So excited!!

Back again for more advice. I booked my first cruise without really using a good travel agent. I sold my son on the Fantasy by watching you tube videos. He saw the Star Wars are and the rest of the kids club and he was so excited!

Well… I just now realized that he turns 11 the day we sail. It’s his birthday trip. He is going to be crushed. The older kids area just doesn’t look like what he wants. He isn’t tween imo and wants the theming and imagination. Not gaming and hanging.

We just made our final payment.. now I’m just worried, I don’t think I will be allowing him to go into the older kids areas. So can we keep him busy for 5 days?

From my Google searching it seems that they are firm if you turn age while on the cruise they won’t allow an 11 year old in the Oceaneers lab

Ugh. Annoying. I’d let him go to the clubs. DCL clubs are incredibly wholesome. I say that as a mom who is overly protective and has sailed on a variety of cruise line. DCL kids just are more sheltered and I’ve never felt nervous with my kids in the clubs. The older kids have things like scavenger hunts and they do a flash mob for pirate night, so they spend a bit of time learning the line dance for pirate night. It’s pretty adorable.
But if you don’t want him in the clubs, there are a lot of things to do. You can let him go to the younger kids’ clubs open houses. You have trivia, the pools, waterslide, meet and greets, shows, dining…
If your dates are at all flexible you could call DCL and ask if there is any way to move it forward. They might.

That’s good they have the open house for the other clubs because he is a die hard Star Wars fan.

He just isn’t your average kid these days. No cell phone, no social media he doesn't even use the term 67 😂 He has friends but they are all his age.

I totally dropped the ball on this one that’s for sure.

We also do no cell phones and social media. We have an extra “family” cell phone that the kids have had access to from around age 14 in case they go somewhere etc. But our older child was “difficult” and we didn’t give him access to a cell phone at all until senior year of high school. You wouldn’t believe the drama I had to listen to about how he was a weirdo. Well, come senior year he gets elected prom king lol. He’s a great student academically too, high performer, happy, well adjusted. So don’t cave on the cell phone!
