Figment May Soon Be One!

We loved the old figment ride much better than the one now, but we still go on it whenever we are there. I love figment and I hope they don't get rid of the ride. :figment: :sad2:

I haven't waited more then five minutes for this ride since the first time they changed it. I liked the original version so much better, although Dreamfinder kind of freaked me out :scared:

I will say version 1 was the best but number 3 is not terrible. I like figment and so does my daughter and I think most everyone. And for that reason I don’t see them getting rid of it. Its kind of funny that Disney imagineers cant make a good ride about imagination, ironic. :confused3 Long live figment :thumbsup2

Walked on to Journey Into Imagination last week...again. And noticed that this time, the CM was just waiting for people to show up. So we, and a Grandmother and sleeping child, rode through in two lone attached cars. You could have heard a pin drop in there.
Had the exact same experience and this was during spring break/Easter week 2006.

I miss the first version of the ride.. IMO they ruined the ride

it makes me sad.. I still love Figment though ;)

Its a continuous loader - those are hard to exhaust capacity. When we were there it was no less crowded than Spaceship Earth or The Great Movie Ride (which at least gets a little line while between trips).

Disney likes high capacity low line rides. During busy park times, when it can take you all day to get through Mission:Space, Test Track and Soarin, the lower lines at Imagination, Spaceship Earth, etc. make sure people don't say "we spent all day there are only saw three things!"

So when do they add their Disney Channel charachter to the Ride? Little Einstiens, Doodle Bops, Jo Jo and such with Figment as your host would make it more popular. They could also include Firgment on the Disney Channel. :thumbsup2

Increased through-put might make Kodak happier.

I think that is a great idea. Kids would recognize him and everything. I never got to see the old original ride only the latest version. I like figment. I think hes cute. I hope it stays, or that they make the ride more like the original ride. Lets keep Figment... :figment:

As I said, Figment is going nowhere. From today's Jim Hill...

That's right, folks. According to reports that leaked out of Emeryville late last week, the Dreamfinder is coming back to Epcot's "Journey into Imagination" attraction. Not only that, but Tony Baxter (I.E. WDI's current senior VP of design as well as being one of the Imagineers who -- back in the late 1970s -- who originally came up with the concept for the "Imagination" pavilion) will reportedly be riding herd on this project. Which will allegedly use state-of-the-art technology to bring "JII" back to its former glory.

Woo! Hoo!
That is rumor I hope turns out to be right.

That would be amazing!

By the way, who is Jim Hill? I know I've heard that name on these boards before - but I just can't remember where.

I like this version better than the previous one but the original was by far the best.

JMO, but I think that if they had better signage and advertising for this ride it would be ridden by more people.

Even though I know of it I have to hunt it down.

Slightly Goofy

While I don't think they will close it I would not bet the farm. We were there last Christmas and the ride was a walk on. The kids had more fun sending e mail and printing digital pictures then on the ride. It is OK, and a place to sit down when you are tired.

When we went in 2001 it didn't have figment it had the Monty Python guy. It had no line then either and we rode it on July 4th. :cool1: We plan to ride on our upcoming trip.

We were just at Epcot May 12-14 and JII is closed at this time. No reason posted as to why. In its original form it was my favorite ride, the revamped version was disappointing. I hope it does return with the original spirit.

We can't lose figment. It was closed the last time I was there in 1999 and I have to see him this time!

I have to agree with some of the previous posts. Although I am not a huge Imagination fan, I don't see them canning this ride based on the plush/pin sales of figment. I think there will always be a Figment over there.

I agree...it's a continuous loader....like TTA. It's tough to get a big line on a ride that is a continuous loader unless it is just absolutely mobbed with people. I also agree that the signage could be better. When I walked into the door, I wasn't even sure we were in the right place. I asked a CM just to be sure....lol

Speed :teleport:

Bring back the original! I love Figment and The Dream Finder, it was my FAVORITE ride as a child.

we dont often go on this ride, and when we do we have to persuade DS to go because he hates that bit at the end when they blow air at you! Its sooo loud and he (and I for that matter!) dont like that bit!
