Figment May Soon Be One!

I enjoy Figment also. I guess its popularity rises and falls. There are times when i see it has low attendance and then large crowds as well.

Both it and honey I shrunk the were getting a lot of visitors when we went. We almost missed figment because it's tucked down the bottom there.

It's one of my son's favorites. We kind of liked it too.

I would hate to see Figment go. We're big Figment fans here. Even though I was happy to see Figment back, I really don't like the new version. We still line up just to catch a glimpse of him though! :)

I think Figment is cute, but I do think they could do a LOT more with this ride. It seems over the last few years they have been doing things to update FW. We now have the Living Seas updating with the Nemo theme, we have TT, MS and Soarin. Maybe an update to Imagination will be coming someday soon.

My 7yr old DD LOVES, LOVES, LOVES Figment!!! We had to go on that like 3 times in 1 day.
I really hope they don't take it away!!

:rotfl2: I just saw this therad and one little spark is playing on sorcerer radio right now!!

One little spark of inspiration, Is at the heart of all creation. Right at the start of everything that's new, One little spark lights up for you. Oh, hello there. So glad you could come along. I am the Dreamfinder. (laughs) Musical notes! What delightful melodies those will make. I love these flights of fancy. Searching the universe for sounds, colors, ideas--anything that sparks the imagination! A sunbeam!
That's a good one. (laughs) Everything that I collect can inspire amazing and marvelous new ideas. And you never know what kind of figment you may come up with. (laughs) Here's my favorite! Two tiny wings, eyes big and yellow. Horns of a steer, but a loveable fellow. From head to tail, he's royal purple pigment. And there--Voila!--you've got a Figment! A Figment of imagination! (laughs)
Dreamfinder! I'm just great!
Ah-ah-ah! Not quite!
Huh?
I'll throw in a dash of childish delight. (laughs) Look, Figment! Some new friends have joined us.
Can they imagine, too?
Of course! Imagination is something that belongs to all of us.
You mean, everyone can think up new things?
(laughs) That's right, Figment. And every sparkling idea can lead to even more. So many times, we're stumbling in the dark, And then--Eureka!--what a spark!
H-h-how are we going to use lightning?
Hmmm...we can combine it with ghostly shivers on a stormy night. And turn it into a tale of fright!
Oh, oh, look, look! A rainbow! I'll use that to paint with.
Now you've got it.
Wow, wow wow! Numbers, letters, papers for writing. Costumes, make-up, stages for lighting. Teardrops, laughter.
What about science?
Science? We'll need electron beams and crystal prisms. Gyroscopes and magnetisms...
Hold on, Figment.
Why?
The idea bag is full.
It is? Let's start making new things.
Now, wait. First, we must store these ideas with the others in the Dreamport.
Are we almost there?
Oh, the Dreamport is never far away when you use your imagination.
Come on everybody, let's go!
We all have sparks, imaginations. That's how our minds create creations. Right at the start of everything that's new. One little spark lights up for you.
Oh, boy! Imagination, imagination. A dream can be a dream come true, With just that spark in me and you

:rotfl2: This is a great ride and I would really hate to see it close. I have seen the original ride and the current one, I have not seen the one without figment and I can't imagine the ride without figment. It was hard enough to be on the ride without dreamfinder. They should update the imagination part of it though. I never miss it when I go. Now I have the music running though my head to this ride and whistling it too...lol.

Again, there is no reason to believe they are going to close this. Figment sells and that's what makes it possible. There are no rumors I know of that have Figment leaving WDW. There are many more rides, El Rio Del Tiempo to name one, that are equally as empty but don't have the merchandising bonus

I loved the original Figment ride. I wish they would bring that one back.

I agree with many of the previous posts... I really enjoyed the old Imagination ride. And while I'm at it... as much as I like sending postcards from the imagination area... as a child I enjoyed the large playground that was there. There seemed like there was so much more to do there!!!

:listen: I can hear the song now... "Imagination, Imagination..."

Yet another person who wishes they had kept JIYI as is. There seemed to always be a line when it was still the original attraction.
They've made it appeal to an awkward age with the version they have now. I know the part with the train whistle would scare the daylights out of my almost 4 year old neice.

JIYI was my absolute favorite ride when I was a kid. I can say with most certainty that if it were the same now, as it was then, it would still be my favorite ride. Unfortunatly, though I am a huge figment fan, it makes me utterly sick to ride this new version (have only done it once and will NEVER ride it again). Personally, I would rather see the entire pavilion torn down and remain empty than have to endure this atrocity. Bring back the old figment!

when i was down there new years this past one we walked on too. i don't like the new ride. but they changed it to have fig back lots of people complained that fig was gone so they put him back. if its not broke don't fix it

I'm in the camp that really liked the original, hated the re-worked "second version" and find the current version only a little better now that Figment is back.

The original version was alot more inspirational and hopeful IMO. Just what I like about most of WDW and want my kids to be exposed to.

Wish they kept Horizons too! Couldn't they have put Mission Space where the Odyssey building is??

I really hope this ride doesn't close...I grew up with Figment. He's my favorite non-movie Disney character. Like all of you, I much prefered version 1 of the ride (with Figment and Dreamfinder), but this current version is alright. Nothing that bad about it. The second version stunk though. I really, really, REALLY hated that version. Yes, I agree that the current version is not that imaginative, but look at the difference between the second version (with no Figment) and the current version (Figment everywhere). The only time I rode the current version was back when it first debuted (2002, I think; I rode it the day after it opened).

We missed the 2nd version, never went in there on those trips! DD12 rode 6 times in a row last trip, just to drive her sister carzy! Then she would sing the song all night, little devil...

So, she'd miss it, but I'd welcome a new attraction, maybe with a bit of Figment still there though?

HI we road Figment June 2005 was this the old version , or the new one , My DS LOVED IT HE ROAD IT 3 TIMES!!!!!!!!!!! :thumbsup2

HAPPY MOTHER DAY !!!!!!!!!

MARY ;)

We usually go to WDW twice each year once in the Summer and then again in the Fall and we never have seen a line or anything even remotely resembling a line or crowd or anything at Imgination.

I truly loved the original ride and was happy to see them redo it a second time after the complete disaster of an attraction that replaced the original. But, sadly I have to admit it is not much of an attraction/ride and is on our if we get to it OK list. I think Figment is great, but he is not enough to dring me back again and again. The original with the colors, the song and a good story line cannot be replaced by the lack of IMAGINATION on the new ride.

I would not be too upset to see this ride get a total revamp and become something more magical for the entire family.

Please do not shoot the messenger!!!

That was version 3.
Version 1 included Figment and a character named Dreamfinder. It was much longer than version 2 or 3 and (most people would agree) much better. Version 1 closed in 1998.
Version 2 did not include Figment at all. It was unpopular from the start (many people wrote letters or stopped at Guest Relations at the park to complain about it).
Version 3 opened in summer of 2002. It is not as good (at least IMHO) as the original, but is 200% better than Version 2. Your family would have seen version 3.

While I've never seen the ride with a line, the part of the Imagination Pavillion that the ride empties into has almost ALWAYS been crowded when we've been there. The only time there haven't been people waiting for the computers (where you can take pictures that you can then buy, btw) was the day Mission: Space opened and the day of & after Hurricane Charley.
