Feelings about Universal?

I haven't been to US/IOA but we are planning a trip August 2008. I love Disney don't get me wrong but what I am most looking forward to is rides with a little more edge and a little more thrill. I think Disney lacks in thrill rides. I'm also looking for something different. We have been to Disney twice over the past 2 years and there's only so many times you can do the same rides that haven't changed since I went there 30 years ago.

My kids will be 12 and 10 when we go and I think we will all really enjoy US/IOA. I am not expecting it to be Disney just as when we went to Busch Gardens Williamsburg I didn't expect it to be disney. I don't understand why peope feel the need to compare everything to Disney.

I was a confirmed Disney fanatic but it started to lose its luster some time back IMO. I decided to expand my horizons a bit and checked out some other parks. DS was also eager to check out Universal being a big Marvel fan.

So off we went and wow, was I ever surprised. My biggest disappointment is that it took me so long to discover Universal but now we split our vacation between the two.

ETA: I agree that it's weird that this thread was moved here. It's almost like the mod just saw the word Universal and moved it without even reading the question.
