February 7, 2009 Western early check in!

Greetings all, after stumbling through yesterday I muddled through the evening and then took 1/2 of an immovane and slept for 8 delicious hours. Now to move through the day and all of its tasks.

I bought a few extra FE things, what cabin are the unofficial FE people in? I know that it is too late for the official list, but it would be nice if your BFF's DD8 received some loot since your girls will be Michele. There was someone else too....

I found out that, despite the ridicule, my husband as lurked on the board!!! He said that it is impossible not to because it is our new screen saver.'I am DH for Disney husband, I presume. What are you, DC for Disney crazy?' He was teasing me that we would know what to do when we meet, that we will all have to go back to our rooms and text each other......he just doesn't get it. I suspect that he will though.

I have added some people to facebook through others who have responded. Is that okay or is it bad facebook etiquette? Forgive me if it is. It is all such a brave new world.

Off to the first task which, fortunately, involves the computer so I can check in frquently for the flurry of morning posts. Then, if I am to clothe my family for the next ten days, I must stay away for the afternoon.

Hello everyone, well I was suppose to wake up to snow, but no nothing, not yet anyway... Im hoping that its just missing us and not because it's actually coming in the am.....I'm hopeful that its just a small storm coming and we'll fly out no problem.........I could use some of this right now

Marie, by the looks of our boards and facebook messages, I don't think we'll have any trouble finding things to talk about...lol I laughed out loud when I read that...

Well I think I'm all packed I'm just doing the last minute throw in the suitcase and take out of the suitcase thing. I'm sure thats why I wait til the last minute otherwise my suitcase would weigh 100 pounds. I'll be back later to say hi.

We had 70 degree weather yesterday. It was gorgeous. Then it snowed last night!!! What the heck?!! We have the teeniest tiniest bit of snow on the flower beds. It's really strange! And I saw the forecast for next week. It's going to be in the 60's. That's not fair! It's supposed to be cold and dreary the whole time we're gone! Dangit! This happened the last time we went to Florida in February. Virginia ended up being warm and beautiful the whole time we were gone and then when we came back it was cold as crap. Grrrrrr....

Nothing new to report on the packing front. Still about 96% done. Just waiting on last minute things now.

And then there were...how many of us are still at home?

I'm still stressing although I got some smaller things done for the cruise but I did get some larger things done for my biz and my PTO.

Kids are getting an early dismissal today because of most recent snow. I'd rather either a full or no school. These partial days just seem to take up more of my time somehow!

The snow brought one positive thing for me. No school during the day means all evening school activities are also cancelled so...no PTO evening tonight . If only I didn't have to work the book swap and run the am PTO meeting this morning!

I'll check in later. It sure has gotten quiet on here. I don't know why but I was hoping we'd reach 100 pages, nice round #. Do you think it will happen?

Good morning DISers. Well 2 more shifts to go counting today then its time for vacation. Still need to finish packing but I'm always a last minute packer. Dee at least this storm is going to miss us could have been alot worse starting the drive tomorrow night. I'll check back in later.

I'm still here! We had another delay today because of a snow dusting... If the storm had moved just the right way, we would have had a foot (according to our weather guys who predict nothing and we get half a foot or predict a bunch and we get nothing... This time they said that "we could either get a dusting of about an inch or a foot if it moves the right way..." Excellent meteorological skills guys...). Hope it hits next week while we're away-- I don't want to be snowed in, but I'd love to be snowed out!!! What better place to be stuck than Orlando???

Puppy update-- still walking around like she's drunk. She goes to the doggy doctor at 3:30, so I'll update after that.

Time to get the boys dressed-- I could get used to school at 10:00

I've gotten through most of my schoolwork, so the excitement has finally hit me. Can't wait to get on that plane! Kids' teachers are really laying on the work. they're officially on contracts - kids do the work and schools get paid by the state for the days absent.

we're looking forward to meeting everyone at 2:30. We'll be the family wearing light blue Lilo & Stitch t-shirts.

Hi guys, we are leaving tomorrow, our flight is at 7 am and right now it's very windy and snowy but Im hoping that it tapers off tonight like they are predicting! As long as Im at the airport I'll be fine. It's getting there that makes me nervous. We are the first flight out in am so I'm hopeful we'll get on a flight at some point, just keep your fingers crossed. I'm off to do some last minute stuff, I'll check back in later, gotta get to 100 pages of posts!

Al, I was actually worried for you guys hoping the storm would not go into Wednesday and cause any issues for your drive. Looks like we did dodge that snow bullet. What time are you leaving tomorrow? I remember you saying that you have specific places you stop each year, where do you stop on your way?

We of course stop at the rest areas when needed but our only obligatory stops are at Denny's for breakfast (because Denny's is an American institution) and Florida's rest stop for free juice.

Can you explain the kids work and school paid thingy? Sounds like an interesting compromise.

question, my BFF, her boyfriend and BFF's DD8 are coming with us, she is a first timer, knows nothing of the FE's and the exchange, i got her an FE, if i put it out, i know she isnt on the list, but if she just puts it out, do you think she would get anything? do people bring extras? i know i did for her, but it was worth a shot!!

Michelle, we have extras of most of our FE stuff. I have packed all the extras and some ziplocs just in case we see any random empty FEs! Let me know which room your friends are in and I'll make sure they get a bag from us!

Hello all, we made it here in one piece. DD and I went on separate airline, she came in the b side and I the a so she had to hunt me down, We made it out of the airport from me landing getting lugage and rental car to WDW in about 1hour 30 mins. Sorry a little bad weather, it has been raining here, but it not cold, just cool, If you are coming in early bring a rain poncho or umbrella, just to be safe.

Well we are both tire, talk withya Tuesday.

Yuck, we got a dusting today too. I was hoping for another delay 'cause I don't really have much work to do today, but no such luck. I guess I'll occupy myself on the DIS and Facebook ! I stopped listening to our local weather guys years ago, I use the Weather Channel to get a rough estimate, but I figure, there's really no way to accurately predict Mother Nature's moods. We just have to take what comes either way until Disney takes over the weather . Let us know how the doggy doctor goes when you get a chance.

The Shoe family will be wearing teal Disney tshirts and jeans (except my dad - he'll be wearing the shirt, but not the jeans - although he will still be easily recognizable in his pimped out ride ) and lime green Mickey head name tags (I finally decided on safety pins for those!). DS and I also have lime green ribbons on our backpacks and I may sneak one onto my dad's wheelchair handle too when he's not paying attention ). Our shuttle from the Radisson isn't until noon, so I don't know what time we'll actually be in the terminal - we may miss some of you early birds! But we'll definitely be at the 2:30 meet.

We're still here until Thursday morning. It's supposed to be cold here but no snow after today, but like I said, who really knows! I just hope the road crews are on the ball if anything does come down between now and then. And that goes for Virginia and NC, and all the states you guys have to drive through too! I think once we're to SC we won't have to worry about the weather too much anymore.

As the title of my post indicates, I am trying to help push us to 100 pages, hence all the smilies ! Here's some funny ones for the kiddies

We're sooo close to 100 pages. Maybe we'll make it!

For those of you driving I-95 south wave at me as you go by exit 47 in Virginia (or exit 45 if you miss it!). That's my exit! We live about 15 minutes from there, down in the country.

If you take I-295 (which I recommend because it takes you around Richmond) wave at me at when you get towards the end at exit 3 (route 460).

Michelle, boarding passes! Yay!!!

As for what we're wearing... Um, whatever the heck I find in the abyss I call my suitcase. We are not a coordinating family. My husband would have a coronary.

But I have my black Tink bag with my little green Mickey head with DIS written on it! I'll look for everyone at the port as soon as we get checked in.

For those driving 95 south, where are you planning to stop? I think we'll be ready to stop the first time around the NC/SC border. South of the Border baby! I remember going there as a kid and loving that place. As an adult it's really a dump! lol

Well, I'm a procrastinator as usual... I think that since I had to plan so well for the last trip we took... wedding and honeymoon... that I'm all planned out. So tonight my goals are to finish up the FE presents and to finish up all the laundry I love being able to use that little icon Then tomorrow it's pack away.

DH is getting off earlier than expected on Friday so that makes it nice that he can be home and help before we head up to the hotel. Then we fly out on Sat morning

We were one of the cabins too late to join the FE. We will have one out and I have bought alot of things to randomly give out (my kids love playing "Santa to the ones that we see. If anyone has extras, I know my kids would love getting a surprise!

Dee, we haven't decided what time we are going to hit the road yet as DW is working tonight so who knows how much sleep she'll get during the day tomorrow. As far as stops go, we stop in NJ to have coffee with some old friends, stop in the carolinas some where for sleep when we get tired, and Waffle House for food along the way since we have none up here. We also stop at the welcome center for the OJ.
