MagicBand+ at Aulani - (April 2025)

There were some really cool Aulani-specific designs of the MagicBand 2.0 that I think only ever appeared as a "coming soon" banner ad at Shop Disney. I don't think they ever saw the light of day before COVID blew everything up and then eventually MB 2.0 was replaced with MB+.

It feels like in that chaos there was never a real thorough "rollout" of MBs at Aulani like they had originally planned, so lots of CMs never got any kind of training about them.

... But it's particularly fantastic at Aulani since the MB+ is waterproof. So constantly jumping in and out of the pools, beach/ocean, showers, etc is no problem. Just leave it on. We never had to carry any wallet or another form of payment as long as we were on the resort. We just left all that in the room.

We rolled with only a MB and a cell phone in a waterproof pouch, and we were set! ...

...My favorite thing was the fact that they are waterproof. So great to not have carry cash, cards or room keys.

I didn't know whether or not MB+s were waterproof, and with how expensive they are, I didn't want to gamble and fry one. That's good to know. Thanks! We have waterproof pouches for our cellphones, but keeping our MB+s on around Aulani and the WDW water parks will make things easier.

The only downside to wearing the MB in the pool is if the magic band is white I found that it started to have a slight yellow hue to it. I *think* this is from the pool and not the sun.

I think the most likely culprit is the reef-safe sunscreen. That stuff destroys everything. Bathing suits, clothes, car upholstery.

we decided we would leave the rental car at the self-park parking structure and walk across the street to the Monkeypod for some lunch. Upon arrival to the parking structure, my MB did not work to open the gate arm. So I simply took a ticket to get us inside (that I would eventually just throw away later).

Just adding on to this. Our room was ready and assigned and our MB’s (MB+ actually) linked in the Aulani app. When we arrived our MB’s wouldn’t open the gate. We found out you have to tap your MB to the resort room door first, then they will work in the parking garage. We did this and never had another issue.

Hm, that's not how it's supposed to work. The front desk is supposed to manually grant one driver per vehicle gate access. It doesn't matter if you'll be accessing the gate with your room key, MagicBand, phone, or any other RFID medium linked to your My Disney Experience profile.

Maybe the front desk didn't tell you they did this for you and just assumed that they should add parking privileges to the lead guest on the reservation. But nothing should have been triggered by entering your room first.

FYI, both colors of the MB+ are currently in stock at Kālepa's.

Inventory is all over the place. We were there for 9 days earlier in the month and they had both in stock (what LOOKED like a ton) but then the next day they'd be sold out completely. It went back and forth between fully stocked and sold out 3 or 4 times.
