February 7, 2009 Western early check in!

ok, my FE gifts are kind of a family gift, so I'm giving out 1 per stateroom. But I couldn't tell from the list if some families or friends that live apart at home are sharing a cabin. So, if you would like an extra FE gift from the Kellys, please post a reply on this thread or leave a note on my stateroom door (8068) and I'll get you another one. I'm bringing lots of extras.

Hi everyone-

Just wanted to say hi, wish everyone left happy travels. We don't leave until Friday afternoon, we won't get to the Radisson until late (probably 11:30 pm) so we'll look forward to seeing everyone at the meet. We are on the 10:30 am shuttle over to the terminal.

I had a funny (in retrospect) story to share for everyone who is concerned about snow delays. We live in Minnesota and several years ago we were on a flight to FL, our first time taking DD (who is now nine, was then 2) to Disney World. Crazy ice storm hits just as we are going to the airport. By the time we arrive, flight is delayed about and hour. No big thing. Then we get on the plane and sit, and sit, and sit, waiting for our turn with the de-ice thing. Again, DD was 2! We sat on the dang plane for over 8 hours before we were de-iced. No getting off, no moving around. They didn't even get us water for the first three hours. :faint: My daughter had just been potty trained about two weeks before. Fun, huh? The only good thing about this story is that we still let her have her nuk for sleeping and we had one with us. The thing that made me think of this story now is that there were many people on our flight who ended up missing their cruise ship. Talk about cranky people. They were all on their cell phones trying to figure stuff out. I heard a group who ended up chartering a private plane to catch them up with their first port. This is where hubby and I learned our lesson and decided that when and if we ever cruised we would definitely fly down the day ahead of time. Talk about a nightmare! Seems like the kind of people who participate on the boards here are "planner" types, so I'm sure everyone will get to the ship just fine. I'll keep my fingers crossed that everyone (including us) has good luck with their travels.

I'm not really packed at all yet. We've done a run through of the summer clothes, made sure we had enough stuff to chose from. It always seems like I'm up almost all night before we go anywhere anyways, so I'll worry about putting stuff in suitcases after my DD goes to bed Thursday night. She is going to school a half day on Friday, hubby will deliver the guinea pig to a relatives house (cat sitter comes in to look after the cat), so I'll have some time Friday AM to fit in a pedicure. Yea!

We're in 6550, looks like deck 6 will be full of Dis'ers! :wave2:

And then there were...how many of us are still at home?

I'll check in later. It sure has gotten quiet on here. I don't know why but I was hoping we'd reach 100 pages, nice round #. Do you think it will happen?

TTFN,
Dee

Hi Dee!

I'm still here :wave2: ...not far to go....I am working through Friday although I might take half a day on Friday. I need to start packing and do a pedi and buy bonine and....oh my...hope I have time to get all I need to done while getting ahead at work!

Jill

We're sooo close to 100 pages. Maybe we'll make it!

For those of you driving I-95 south wave at me as you go by exit 47 in Virginia (or exit 45 if you miss it!). That's my exit! We live about 15 minutes from there, down in the country.

If you take I-295 (which I recommend because it takes you around Richmond) wave at me at when you get towards the end at exit 3 (route 460). :)

Michelle, boarding passes! Yay!!!

As for what we're wearing... Um, whatever the heck I find in the abyss I call my suitcase. We are not a coordinating family. My husband would have a coronary.

But I have my black Tink bag with my little green Mickey head with DIS written on it! I'll look for everyone at the port as soon as we get checked in.

LOL on the DH coronary....mine would too and we will not be coordinated....or so I think. I just got a lime green shirt...I hope you'll notice me???:cheer2:

I didn't have time this AM to post so I have more catch up to do! Got the hair done tonight and DH likes it...so do I but usually like it and figure if I don't, it grows and there's next time for another do or cut/style.

Off to reading the posts!

we're on deck 6 also :cool1:

Jill - a few pages back you had me chuckle with her motel 8 comment, I keep thinking of you as our lsat DISer holding down our thread on Sat.

Get us to page 100 even if you end up talking to yourself :rotfl2:

OK, I'm now ready to put the stuff in the suitcases. I did DD's mostly the other day and sorted my pile so it's mostly ready and now need to tackle DH and DS packing situation.

TAFN...

Connie:hyper:

Okay, one last time before I shut down this computer, well actually I'll probably do it in the am so I can check my flight status.

I had to go out for a bit and just got home and kids are in bed sleeping, it's a miracle!

Snow has stopped, for now, flight is still ontime and all flights got out today, only one delay, so we should be fine for am, if anything maybe we'll get a delay, I just hope they figure it out now so we can sleep in a bit. As of now I'll be up at 4 so we can leave about 4:30 am. We'll all be a little cranky but once we hit FL I'm sure that will pass. The snow has stopped but the roads are not very good and it's sooo windy it will be blowing snow everywhere so better to get a good head start!

I'm so excited to meet you all, this has been so much fun I can't stand it!
I gotta go now, one last vacuum, clean up some toys, fold the last of DH's laundry....I'm kinda sad this is my last post, but soo excited for whats to come, thanks for making this trip a memorable one already.

See you in Florida!!!

Michelle P
ps. If I have insomnia I may finish an FE, I started one then didn't finish it when I realized I didn't make it in before the cutoff, but just in case we are in cabin 8566, dd7 dd17 ds12 dh and me. Thanks!!

We are heading out in the morning. :cool1:

We too have a 7am flight, but since we go thru US customs here in Calgary we need to get to the airport a couple of hours before the flight.

Have to get back to making sure I didn't forget anything. Those staying at the Radisson we will see on Friday night.

Cheers
Pam

Well-- just got back from the doggy doctor :sad1:

It's official-- she can't see a thing. Not even shadows :sad2: He said that she has all the symptoms of SARD (sudden acquired retinal deficiency). I guess it happens most often in spayed, female, overweight, middle-aged dogs in the winter (yes-- in the winter?!?!). She fits all of the above except overweight (she's pretty much right on target). She had 2 of the bloodwork symptoms (low white count and high something else). Bad news is: no cause, no cure. Good news is that it doesn't have any other health effects and she can live with it-- she just needs to adjust. So what do we do? We're going to leave her at another house for 11 days  I feel like a horrible mom  Can't I just hide her in my stateroom??? If I give her the antihistimines, she'll be so knocked out that maybe they'll just think she's a stuffed animal :)

The ordeal just got her a 45 minute belly rub though, so she's going to get some major spoiling benefits out of the deal because she now has me even more whipped than she already did :)

I am so sorry to hear about your doggy, this is really sad and that you have to be away at the beginning of this change. I'm glad that it is not a life threatening issues though. I hope that she adapts easily. I hope that you can enjoy your trip. I know that you are going to thinking about her the entire time.

Happy thoughts to you.

adding to the 100 pages mark.

I have updated the FE lists with 3 addtional matey families, please do what you can to add these three families. Others have already included extras for those just incase, As I have obtained some extras as well.

the links has there information at the bottom of the list. Sorry, I don't have all the real first names.

It was a cool day and evening. and Thursday morning is supposed to be in the low 30's so bring something warmer to wear, 30's is probably cold for you easterners as well. We went out and got a couple pieces of fleec for scarfs.

So send pixie dust for warmer weather and the forcasters are wrong.

Talk with you later.

Mark teases me about being 'ubermother' and about my over the top planning for trips and birthday parties but clearly I am a rank amateur commpared to some of you. Coordinating boarding outfits??!!! OMG I bow before you:worship:
I've already dropped the ball on the magnets. The paper jammed my printer.

We will be wearing something hopefully clean and hopefully not too wrinkled.:)

I wrapped up the Parent council stuff I had to organize for when I am gone, went out for the beautification and here I am, despite my resolve to be packed by Sunday, still packing.(but you should see my toes and brows! I feel like Ava Gardner!)

We drive to Syracuse tomorrow and fly out at 4pm. I am hoping to leave by 9or 10 to allow for any delays.

I am sorry about your pup Jen but I'm glad that she is otherwise healthy. I bet that you will all adapt to the change and have many more happy years together.

So thats it I'll pop back in the morning before we go,
Marie

Ok, so it's cold here, It's cold in Florida ( by Florida standards!) Perhaps if we all collectively wish for Pixie Dust and heat it'll happen :goodvibes

Got all the "formalwear" packed. And bathing suits, and snorkel gear came in finally! It'll be totally real tomorrow when I hear the luggage zip closed! Determined to not have to zip and unzip 100 times :)
For those of you Traveling happy safe travels! We leave Friday @ 5am.

I too have extras for the FE so thanks for the update to the list Sue!
Off to bed, have a full day of packing and sorting tomorrow.

Do they heat the pool adequately on the ship? Someone DH works with or came across said they only had a so so time on Disney cruise and the pools were cold. I don't think I'll care but I do like a warm pool. Anything will be better the long cold snap we've had.

I'm hearing 40's for Friday we fly out of MPLS. Tonight I had to fill the tank on my SUV and it was cold and I kept thinking happy thoughts of WARM weather and that it's only days away.

Connie

Long sagas have been going on about the this and that of trip and you heard it before - "what, we have to dress up????" and now today I get a call from DH while we're both at work and conversation goes something like this, "yeah, about that tux, why don't you check into a tux for DS and well, I've never worn one since our wedding" and this is when I chime in and say "well it's about time since we are celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary".:rotfl2: :love2:

We will most likely rent via Disney's rental option and the boys will look smashingly handsome in them...if we really do rent them.:dancer: :dancer: ;)

one more message to help get to 100 pages

Getting ready to leave for airport, I can't believe I slept at all but I did get a couple hours in.. flight status: ontime! yay

See you all so very soon.

Michelle

ps. I didn't bother with the fe, so you can un-fe me! lol

20s in FLA? That's bad on many levels, but mostly because I will be there FRIDAY!

Two more sleeps.

Marie - we will not be coordinated in terms of outfits... I tend to throw a TieDye shirt on the DS in case he sees a video game display in the airport and stops to ooh and ahh at it while we keep walking forward (LOL)....

But we will have green ribbons.

Since I am still here (in Land of Great Snow - our 1-3 inches of snow became 8 right at rush hour) I can run out and buy a few little things just to make new FE folks feel part of the crowd!

Good morning and safe travels and the light is still on!

OMG the cold is going to kill me if it's that COLD. NO, say it ain't so!! I guess the idea of wearing a t-shirt and jeans when we leave home ought to be a long sleeve shirt, coat and jeans... Doh!

Michelle P., safe travel vibes for you!

Pam, safe travel vibes for you too!

More VVs headed to Paradise today! Yay! We're about to take over Florida!

The butterflies I had have now started to turn to NERVOUSflies. I always do this before a trip. I feel almost homesick prior to leaving. It's weird, I know...

Have a great day everyone!

just checked our cruise forecasts dont worry, it is looking goooood! :beach:
