February 7, 2009 Western early check in!

Princess Meesh - yes, please post the ship to shore number. I just found out last night that my mother had another illness setback (January 9 - my dad didn't want to "Worry" me) so I really want to give it to two of my cousins who live nearby the number....

As for your luggage question - on NCL there was no limit and storage of bags really wasn't a problem. I believe we brought two each because I am insane.

Hang in there! we are all going to get on the boat and have fun! Luggage and all!!!

dee, Im not sure about the food situation over at Playas Uvas, I know a few of us are planning on eating a large breakfast that morning, and they do have food to buy there but I'm not sure of the prices. I don't think we can get off the boat that day untill 10 or so. Someone looked it up earlier. I wouldn't drink the water there, been there done that, not pleasant. The ship sells bottled water on port days. I will be stopping and buying a case to bring on the ship with us, I called and they said it's fine as long as it's not open. The cab fare is approx 10 dollars for 1-4 people to Uvas, we are all going to meet at the cab stand that morning when we get off the ship and just take cab after cab after cab, some of us will share cabs Im sure to cut costs as it goes up for more people, hopefully they'll have those vans and we can all fit, well maybe two vans, but it will save some $$..

I'm off to clean house while it's empty and then hopefully time for a pedi.

talk to you soon

Michelle

We bought our water cases last night. I'm a huge water drinker so I really appreciate that Disney lets us bring it on board.

Michelle - when you're finished with your house cleaning...take a ride over to mine and get some done! :flower3:

DD's teacher is being wonderful about sending books and work for Jordan but DS's teacher...I've sent two reminders and still have not heard back. Ugh!

CRIKEY!! Just back from Walmart and I forgot to look for sand toys!!! UGH!!!

I did get the case of water I needed at least. Is it okay if I break up the box and pack the bottles (wrapped in trash bags) within our various pieces of luggage?? I would think that's okay but not sure...

I found a bottle of Downy Wrinkle Release in the travel section. When I rolled up my dresses yesterday stuck them in the suitcase I started hyperventilating. Hopefully the wrinkle releaser will keep me from being the wrinkled woman from hell during dinners. Too bad it won't work on my face.........

Did I tell ya'll that I'm having my aunt come and clean my house while we're gone? I'm so excited! This is what she does for a living so I thought long and hard and decided it was worth the money to have her drop by and clean so we'll come home to a beautiful home. Of course she's fighting with me about me paying her. She says she can't charge family, but I refuse to let her do it for free. Crazy woman. Psssst.... don't tell dh cause it's a surprise!

:confused3

I have officially entered my "Running with Scissors" mode.

Work is insane so barely time to breath.

While the house is clean, and most of the clothes are ready, I still have to ge the suitcases out.

DH is working overtime this week because of a big job that got delayed due to weather.

Come Friday, it will all just be a memory and I'll be heading to warmer climes!

:-) STay sane everyone!

Dee, I re-emailed the teachers over the weekend and thankfully both of them have responded. My 4th grader is going to have his hands full! His teacher is not letting him miss any work at all. My 1st grader's teacher is a little kinder and is not sending any work and is really excited for us. She asked if I'd like to switch places with her for the week. lol

I also just got back from yet another trip to Walmart!

I got two sets of sand toys. I picked up a large boat filled with some smaller toys ($10) and a large set with about 22 sand pieces ranging from large to small ($15). They had simple buckets with shovels starting at about $3 I think.

I also picked up white pillowcases. I decided against the Michael's pillowcases I posted about earlier in the thread. I had an idea to mark off about an 8X10 area on the pillowcase for the CM's to know not to write in that space. Later when we're home I'll get one of the kids' favorite pix from the crusie and tranfer it to the pillow.

Well, off to feed my hungry tummy and then off to the schools for some PTO stuff.

Toodles for now and I will of course check in later,
Dee

I really expected Jordan's teacher, 4th grade, to have been the not so helpful one because she just doesn't ever give off (Too anyone) the warm fuzzy vibe. To my surprise it is Bailey's teacher, 1st grade, who isn't really being vey helpful. You just never really know anyone do you...can't judge a book.

For your 4th grader...do you have off school the following week or is it back at school right after the cruise? Jordan and Bailey luckily have the week following the crusie to complete the bulk of their work. That's very nice that each teacher responded to you. I guess I expect even if Bailey's teacher does respond (she still has time) his work will be very light compared to jordan, just like your kids...well no work is very light, lucky.

Breathe in... Breathe out... Breathe in... Breathe out...

Ok-- that's a little better :) I'm going NUTS!!! I feel like I've been running around with my eyes closed... Well, I just opened them and my house is a BOMB!!! I need to get my act together!!! I can't wait to just be sitting around the pool floating around the ocean!!!

Finances took a blow. My dog is my baby-- my only girl in the house-- and anything goes when it comes to her (sorry, I know I sound like a nut, but I was raised a dog girl!!! I LOVE my puppy!!!). Well, we took her to the vet about a week and a half ago (I don't remember if I posted that or not) because she sounded all congested and she was acting funny. After a TON of bloodwork and x-rays, she needed antihistimines and eye ointment because the whites of her eyes were all irritated. They tried to tell me it was "allergies" (what the heck is she allergic to? Dogs???). Well, after paying $264 for the tests, drugs and diagnosis, I did her antihistamines and her eye ointment and now she's BLIND. I mean like walking into our legs and the corner of the cabinets blind. Today, she walked face first into the side of the house. I tried to play fetch with her and she couldn't find the toy until she tripped over it. I threw down a treat right in front of her and she had to sniff around to find it. And I'm a basket case because I don't think that this is something that can be reversed and to watch her is just so sad :( We have to leave her with our neighbor in her house and she's not going to know where she is. I'm hoping and praying that the vet can help her when I take her for her appointment tomorrow. My poor baby

I'm going to go un-pack some stuff. I know I overpacked the boys and myself. DH is on his own. I don't plan on wearing anything but my bathing suit on sea days, so that cuts down two days for me anyway!!! My new theory is that as long as I have outfits for dinner, my bathing suit and a cover up for between my room and daily water source (pool or beach) is adequate, haha :rotfl2: Hope it's warm out on that water!!! :beach:

Well, I was busy, busy, busy this weekend and I see everyone else was too! I've finally caught up on all those pages of posts and now I don't have much time to reply before I leave work, but I did want to send well wishes to Jen's pup. That's got to be tough to watch, I'm so sorry you (both) have to go through that, especially right now. Hopefully it's just a temporary side effect and will wear off, fingers crossed, but I'll be thinking about you guys until you let us know how everything turns out.

Here's no illness wishes for all of us pixiedust: !

Here's safe travel wishes to all of us pixiedust: !

Here's warm weather wishes for our voyage pixiedust: !

Hopefully that's enough pixie dust until Disney can provide it for us on Saturday :)!

Talk to you all soon,

Sabrina

Jen - we will pray for your pup and you. I had a dog that had a stroke and possibly cancer and became blind. I can empthasize for you. Watching her not know where she was, it was just heartbreaking. I hope everything works out well!

Sabrina - I think you covered us of us more than adequately with that wonderful pixie dust :)

Off to do more laundry and I hope at some point tonight I'll get more packing and some itsy bitsy stuff done.

Dee

Jen,I am so sorry about your dog. It must be miserable for you to leave her. I'll be thinking of you.

I just scrolled back through the posts to find facebook links and names and could not. Does anyone recall were that cluster of posts are? It is nice meeting everyone. We may even be able to recognize one another at the port or Radisson.

The Art program that I help organize went off at my kids school today. It felt a bit wierd leaving a sick kid at home with my mother so that I could go volunteer. She's doing better but I am going to keep her home tommorrow too, then we leave on Wednesday. One day won't matter much. Her teacher said that there are 7 kids out today. Chances are she'd go in for one day and pick up another bug.

So, right now, I'm trying to shovel the energy together to go pack. What I really need is a nap but I think that I will just muddle through, go to bed early and pack like a mad woman tommorrow.

I figure if I have the medications, documents, bathing suit, formal clothes and some basic clothes we will be fine. there will be ample oportunity to buy anything else we need and no matter what is in the suitcases we will be on the plane on Wednesday. I do have most of the stuff together I just need to organize it and get it in the suitcases.

Take care all and happy packing,
Marie

question, my BFF, her boyfriend and BFF's DD8 are coming with us, she is a first timer, knows nothing of the FE's and the exchange, i got her an FE, if i put it out, i know she isnt on the list, but if she just puts it out, do you think she would get anything? do people bring extras? i know i did for her, but it was worth a shot!!

thanks for any insight!

Jen, here's some pixie dust for your puppy, pixiedust:

Michelle, I didn't get in on the FE thingy in time but Sue did tell me to put one out anyway, she told people earlier in the posts to bring extra stuff, your friend may get lucky and get some goodies. I didn't bother, but kinda wishing I did.

starting to panic, they are calling for snow wednesday! argh, but I did get my pedi done today!

till later....
Michelle

Wow, I missed a day and had to spend 20 minutes catching up! (I'm hiding in my office during Midsummer Night's Dream rehearsal)

Bon Voyage to those who have left.

I think I'm in the same boat (no pun intended):rotfl2: As the rest of you.

Packing, unpacking, washing, trips to Walmart, Target. Back to Walmart...Trying to work for the next 24 hrs, so I can hop a plane to the Magic Land of Mickey!

My whole family thinks I'm nuts too! Too much online talking!

If I don't get back on the boards before I leave (Wed morn) I'll see ya all on Sat!

Peace, well wishes and safe travels to all!
With a smile and a song,
Linda

I'm bringing a few extra piratey things for the FEs :-)

Sending good wishes to Jen and the puppy. That's awful :-(

See you all soon

Good news, Bailey's (DS6) teacher got back to me and is also sending stuff for him to do while we're away. His resource teacher is also sending something.

Any news on your pup, Jen?

You all seem to have spent some real loving and thoughtful time with the FE's. It seems like we're all going to have a blast with it all.

Pulling an all nighter tonight. as perfectly stated by someone in an earlier message on our thread:

Must. stay. away. from. board. Must. stay. away. from. facebook.

I just hope I'm more successful than she was :rotfl2:

Goodnight and happy and safe travel for everyone leaving Tuesday!

Dee

Ugh I just read that the Wonder couldn't dock at CC last week due to wind, let's pray for no wind and light seas!!

Well get well wishes for your puppy, Jen.
