:welcome: mom2alzach! You are going to LOVE  DCL!! This will be our second Disney Cruise. We can't wait to get back! You and your family will have the BEST time!! My girls are going to be 13 and 5 on the cruise. My 4 year old LOVED the club and always wanted to be there! She is extremely shy, but I couldn't keep her out! My 12 year old hung out with friends she met here on the boards and had a great time as well. Get ready for a relaxing, wonderful cruise!!

Triggs2 I am so sorry you won't be joining us!! Have a GREAT time on your April cruise!! :sunny:

So since this will be my first 7 day trip can anyone tell me what I can expect different then the 3 day cruise. And how quickly do we get through customs at St. thomas? Thanks

Moira & other fellow MA folks-
How are you doing with the flood? Pixie dust to you!
We aren't too bad. But if we lose electricity my basement will quickly become a pool. We have a new pond in our backyard, with a river. My kids wish it would stay (typical boys, LOL), but I am very happy to see it recede!
Welcome to all new folks on the board! We are keeping a list of our group. If you wish to participate , PM me the following:
Names, ages of cruisers, stateroom #, where you're staying the night before we sail, dining time, etc. As the cruise gets closer we are going to arrange some meets, and share e-mails for the kiddos to connect.
It's sunny today!!!!!!!

Hi Sue!

Well, we made it through the rains fine! I think the north of Boston got the brunt of the rains. I had very little water in my basement - just a small puddle at the door to the bulkhead. Although, I can't remember the last time my grass was this green!! I was starting to think we would never see the sun again!! Glad to hear that you made it through, too!

Gotta love kids - they find the good in everything, don't they? :)

Hello?? :confused3 Anyone around?

(I have been thinking about the trip a lot this afternoon. I got home from work today and found my Passporter waiting for me... I am not obsessed w/DCL, I am not obsessed w/DCL...)

Just checking in....We have finished paying off our July cruise on NCL to Hawaii. I'm spending time trying to figure out our shore excursions there, but DS is already talking to me about how much fun he's going to have on the DCL cruise! It'll be great.

Hey Sue! Almost in summer mode here. DH and DS each have about 2 weeks of school left. I'm teaching in Summer I at the College (we're 1/2 way done) and I'm still working on the Hawaii shore excursions. Have to rent some cars soon! DS remains very excited about the DCL cruise. Saw some pics of the Villas in the Spa and am trying to convince myself it's really worth another $500! It would be so cool to sit in the hot tub and watch the ocean sail by. Just random thoughts...

I am actually done school! Our dept. gets out 2 weeks before the rest of the district, so I am just subbing here and there. My big goal is to get the house clean before the kids get out for summer break. At least it will be clean for a few days, LOL. If it ever stops raining, we'll uncover the pool. Every time I get the cover pumped off, it fills up again. I am SO sick of the rain. My 2 younger kids play baseball, and have missed almost 1/2 the season. The boys get out 6/19, so they are getting excited for vacation. We are planning our annual camping trip to Acadia National Park. We always have a fantastic time, but I wish we were cruising to Hawaii like you! I can't wait to hear about it--DH and I hope to do a Hawaiian cruise for our 25th in a few years (I have lots of time to plan!). I was looking at the Villas too-how indulgent would that be?? They look so nice, but I think we'll bypass it in lieu of an excursion for the 5 of us. Maybe another time.
Moira-I was thinking about you with the rain. It looks like you got more than we did this time. Did you do OK? Thank goodness for sump pumps!
Hope all's well with everyone! Summer is coming!!

I was gone for a few weeks for work, and just got back, I cannot believe the weather, I was in hot and sunny and back to miserable, cold and wet....
we are looking forward to the end of school, the kids still have 2 weeks of school but not much homework.... we are going camping in Disney this summer, so we will get our Disney fix.

How is camping at WDW? We go to Acadia every summer, and love it, but I can't imagine how we'd do it at WDW. Do you rent an RV, or drive there w/your gear?
You should see my mini-van when we go camping. I swear you can hear it beg for mercy! I'd have no idea how to pack for WDW camping, LOL!

I have loved every trip when we camped at FW, and our stays at the old Fleetwood Trailers, and newer cabins too. But we have never camped in summer. In April 2004 we tent camped (no tow vehicle for the pop-up) and I missed A/C. New popup has the extra support and is ready for A/C installation. That's when I'll camp in the summer at FW.

we started camping with a pop up, then moved up to a class C, we just love it, we tow our car, and go there for 2 weeks, the kids love it and so do we, it is just a great time to get away from everything. So we cheat, we don't really camp.....

Well just a couple of days for both DH and DS at school (different systems). I have four more classes to teach at the College, and the Hawaiian cruise is just a month away!!! I need to make a countdown chain. This weekend we'll camp in NH as we deliver DS to Calumet for his summer job as a counselor working with the youngest boys. I still have a huge Walmart run to acquire all the toothpaste, shampoo, bandaids, etc for him. I've been at a lot of weekend conferences and really need some time for these errands.

Hi Debbie-
Wow! I think I know camp Calumet! My father used to live in Ossipee, and I knew a lot of kids who were counsellors there (many years ago) and camp Cody and the one across the pond from Cody (forgot the name) because I spent a lot of my childhood summers there. Am I thinking of the right place? Where are you camping in NH? White Lake by any chance? If I am thinking of the right camp, I think White Lake is near there. If not WL, where are you camping? We do a lot of camping, but this year it will just be Acadia. 2 of my boys are still in baseball-one in the All Stars hoping to get to the Little League World series (fingers crossed!), and another playing in the Jimmy Fund Summer Tournament.
I can't wait to hear about the Hawaii cruise!
Enjoy the end of classes. My kids are all done today, and because I finished teaching a few weeks ago, I am SO ready for them to be home! :Pinkbounc

Yes that's Calumet. We'll camp in the Family Campground right there, across Lake Road from the kids' camp. White Lake is just down rt 16. We've been going to the White Mountains since '73. DH and I were on staff in 73, DH in 74 and 76, DS26 in 96-2001, DD22 in 98-99, and now DS17 05-06. It's a small world afterall....

We've been up to Mt Desert Island, but not camping at Acadia. I'm sure that'll be a great experience. A few years ago we went to the Maritimes 2 years in a row, doing Bay of Fundy and PEI (all time favorite), and then more Nova Scotia and Cape Breton. I love those northern woods.

DS last day is today. DH has a few to go...

I am so ready to hit the road to NH this weekend. Just two more night classes after tonight!

We are not actually IN Acadia, but we're very close. We camp at a great campground right outside the official realms of the park. It's on Somes sound on Mt. Desert island. It has bath houses that are small but clean, water to swim and go crabbin', and a nice, quiet, family atmosphere. We have gone there a few years in a row because it has all we need (running water, showers), but nothing we don't (pool, rec. room, crowds). It's about a 5 minute drive from the park gates, and the park shuttle busses actually stop at the campground so we can hop on there to hit the trails.
I love the feeling of reaching the top of a mountain and seeing the ocean and other peaks-just breathtaking!

What a small world that we know of the same places in NH! Have a great time camping! Don't forget to go the the Yankee Smokehouse! (The BEST BBQ! My MIL lives about 45 minutes from there, and we make the trip to eat there whenever we can. Yum!!)

DH has a Yankee Smokehouse t-shirt! It's always on our list too.

This is a bump, as well as an early have all a happy and safe 4th of July week-end, we are taking Monday off from work, and going camping int he thousand islands this week-end, I am looking forward to a few day of nothing to do, but relax.....
