February 17, 2007

We're slated for 2nd seating too. I'm assuming our rotation will be LAP since our travelling children are 16 and 16.

Bad news today . . . went to the ER with a constant pain in my lower left abdomen -- they didn't absolutely nothing for me . . . pelvic which proved my female organs were in pain, urinalysis to show I wasn't pregnant, and bloodwork that was negative. They sent me on my way saying there was nothing I needed to be admitted for. I received scripts for vicodin and two antibiotics and told to check with my doctor in a day or two if I didn't feel better.

Came home and got no relief at all so I called the GYN and made an appt. An ultrasound revealed a fibroid tumor the size of a softball!!! Think I strongly dislike the ER doctor right now? I return to the doctor for a check up on Monday and if I'm no better, I'll have an emergency hysterectomy. If I can hang on until 10/18, I'll have a laproscopic hysterectomy then.

We were set to leave on 10/15 for a 9-day vacation to Asheville and Gatlinburg to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary. Oh well . . . better now than in February, right?

Keep me in your thoughts in the next 2 weeks and pray that I am able to get some immediate relief from this unbearable pain.

Lisa

Lisa-
I am so sorry to hear about your fibroid. A good friend of mine went through the same thing about a year ago. I will definitely keep you in my thoughts and wish you a speedy recovery. :grouphug: pixiedust:

Thanks Sue! This is worse than labor . . . one continual contraction. Anything is better than feeling this!

At least this has happened at a time in my life when I'm no longer of child-bearing age. I'll just get to jump over a few years of misery going into menopause.

Another weekend down -- one less week to go!!!

Hope everyone had a good week!

130 days to go!

Sue:

The continual severe pain I was having is gone but on Saturday it was replaced by the pain of a severe bladder infection that sent me back to the ER.

That has gotten a little better by this morning.

I have an appointment with my gyn this morning around lunch to check my progress.

Thanks for asking!! I think I'm going to live and hopefully will be able to hold out until 10/18 for the surgery and not need emergency surgery!

Lisa

Lisa,
Try this when you are having pain: imagine walking onto the Magic and think of all the fun you will be having. I often "walk down Main Street" while laying of the exam table or in the middle of a dental procedure. Plus it helps that my dental hygenist is a huge disney fan. :yay:

I think I'll use that old trick like you do with Lamaze! I think I need a photo of the ship on the back of the bathroom door for when I'm having trouble!!! hehe

In the exam rooms at this gyn, he has painted scenes on the flourescent light coverings. They are really nice . . . . skies, tree branches with butterflies, flowers, etc. I've been using the wrong gyn all this time . . . my sister was holding out on me! Today, I was really thrown for a loop -- he uses a heating pad under the stash of "tool" so that they'll be warm when he uses them!!!!!

I made it through the appointment today and I'm counting down each day until I make it to the 18th and have the "easier" surgery . . . 8 days to go!!!

Until then . . . I'll be dreaming of the Magic and all the pixie dust!

I'm sure Sue has more stats than this . . . but it was fun for a little while to compile the info!

Courtney, Kelli and I have myspace pages. Anyone else? If so, perhaps we can trade addresses for friend requests.
http://myspace.com/sportsphotos is mine

Lisa, I hope that you are feeling better, I was away from the computer for a few days and just read your e-mail, I love the music on your myspace page.......

Christine:

Last night, Courtney sent me a IM from her dad's house with links to some WDW myspace pages. It was AWESOME!!!! I had goosebumps just remembering the trip we took to WDW at the beginning of August.

Fantasmic was on one of the pages and I added it as my song on my page.

You must excuse my headline that was up this morning though . . . it was intended for a sorry excuse of an ex-step-mom to Courtney. I'm embarrassed I hadn't remembered to take it off before.

In the slideshow on my page right now, Courtney and Kelli are in photos #1 and #2. Courtney is mine and is the blonde and Kelli is the brunette and is Courtney's best friend.

I woke this morning feeling hundreds times better than just a short few days ago!!!! I may end up being able to go to the LSU/Kentucky game this weekend but am not certain that I'll be up to photographing it. We'll have glorious football weather for a change -- high of 75 and low of 54 with clear skies!!!! That is the lowest we'll be so far this fall!!!!

Yes, I have started a list. For anyone who hasn't sent he info to me, and is interested...

Could you PM me with the following??:

DIS name
First names/sex/ages of people coming, (leave names out if not comfortable)
Where your family is from
Stateroom #
Dining time
Pre-cruise hotel

If there is anything else you think we should keep track of, post here and we can add it. If I have this info saved in PM, it will be so much easier to keep track of. Is everyone comfortable with me posting the info to this thread? I will leave out names on this thread, but I'll PM everyone with all the information when it gets closer. If you want it sooner, let me know, and I'll PM you.
We can add meet times/ideas when we get closer to the cruise date??

Have a great day!

We dipped down to page 3 so I thought I would bump us up.

What are some of the ongoing preparations that you are doing for the cruise?

I've been looking at pirate shirts on disneyshopping.com and wondering whether to buy now or wait for a better coupon. 13% coupon is good through tonight but I think I'm going to wait a bit longer.

I found fish extenders on yahoo auctions for $3.50 each and decided to pick up a few. These are really neat . . . one is pink, another is blue and the third is yellow. They have 5 pockets and can be hung on your "fish" outside your door and are to receive goodies or notes in. I intend to give one to my granddaughter for her (bed)room and the other to my grandson for his. I may attempt to make a pattern and reproduce my own that can be customized with different characters on them (Buzz, Monsters, Pricesses, etc.).

So what's up with you? Let's get some excitement going!!!

Lisa

Oh - BTW -- the LSU/Kentucky game last night was soooo boring. I hate blowout games. They are absolutely no fun to photograph. The upside is that we had awesome weather for the game!! It was 71 degrees when we left the game and I didn't break a sweat at all during tailgating or working the game.

Lisa,
I love your enthusiasm!! How about this for excitement: the Detroit Tigers are going to the World Series!!! :cool1: Everyone is so hyped up. We have decided to be pirates for Halloween at work pirate: (gee, I wonder who suggested that) so I will be working on getting a costume together soon. I am a secretary at an elementary school so Halloween is a big deal. My husband and I celebrated our 19th wedding anniversary this past week. Boy, does time fly! I saw something on another thread that the family on tonight's Extreme Makeover show is going on a Disney Cruise, we are going to watch for sure.

Thanks for the Extreme Makeover reminder!

I saw some good patterns at Hancock Fabrics in the books for pirate garb! I was tempted to get a shirt pattern and then wear it with black pants on the cruise for dinner that night.

I was supposed to be on vacation starting today -- I would be in Asheville North Carolina at the Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa for the next two days getting massages, facials, pedicures and pedicures before spending the balance of the week in Gatlinburg cruising in a convertible to see the fall colors and enjoy the solace.

Our fifth anniversary is Thursday and instead of being in the mountains, we're here in Louisiana and I'll be in the hospital for my surgery on Wednesday. I should hopefully be home Thursday night if things go well.

I really want to make the most of this cruise in February with my daughter. As teenagers get older, you have to savor every vacation you get to have with them. Sooner or later, they elect to live their own lives and you're not as big of a part in it as once was.

I'm contemplating taking on a project for the group but waiting to get a list from Sue before I commit. I'm thinking I might be able to get it done while I'm mending from my surgery. Just a little something to keep me sane while I'm stuck in the house!

I was a secretary in a junior high but volunteered in my children's elementary school in the office. You have such a great job!! All those lil' kids LOVE the secretary! I just finished sewing my granddaughter a scrub suit to wear for career day at her elementary school. I haven't heard about their Halloween festivities yet but I know she's dressing as a fairy that night, so I'm off the hook as my daughter purchased that outfit.

This is a pic of my grandson on pirate night this past February. He was te only one dressed up. I want to change that this year.

Lisa, your gandson is just too cute, my biggest thought about the cruise right now, are the excursions, my girls are actually voting not to do any excursions, and just hand out on the ship while it is empty and go shopping, which is fine with me.
I put away all of our summer clothes, and just kept the cloth that we will need for the cruise, I am starting to put aside things that we will need, but have not gone very far with that.....
Anyone would like to plan something for Friday night before the cruise, we will be staying at the new Residence Inn????

I haven't talked to the girls yet about excursions. I know they will want to snorkel though.

Here, we don't really have a winter so we never put away our summer clothes. I know that Courtney could go without buying a single item for the cruise but somehow, knowing my 16 year old like I do, she'll find a ton of new things she NEEDS.

In my closet, I have my over the door shoe holder from our last February cruise and that is where I'm beginning to put a few things as I think about them.

We've been having horrible weather all morning . . . tornado warning after tornado warning. It will be the status quo for the next two days. I'm getting sick of the rain! With all the weather warnings during the night, I awoke at 7:30 to a nightmare! I was dreaming that I was having to be really aggressive to get to my 1 PM flight (just so happens my flight after the cruise is at 1 PM). My transfers were running late and I was having a fit! Besides, in the dream, I left my camera equipment in my room when checking out and the desk wouldn't give me another key to go back to look for it. Yes . . . it was a nightmare!
