Dreamer 04: Seems I remember your name from the Feb Cruise Meets in '05. Did you end up going on that one? Welcome to the thread!

Debbie, yes we did and we met onboard in the shops...Austrian Crystal chains?

I am looking forward to meeting you all again!

Hi again. The shock is wearing off. I've booked our flights, pre-cruise hotel, and car service. Next is the 90 day mark for excursions and Palo ressies!

Anyone else trying to lose weight for the cruise?

Ursula

I am--hopefully ten lbs...

I wish I could get my air booked! I am waiting for Southwest to release February because I don't want to pay over $550 pp to fly down to Orlando. Then I can book a stay at WD or UNV for the Wed and Thr before. We are staying at the Raddisson the night before we cruise.

We have Jetblue out of JFK on the 16th and we're staying at the MCO Hyatt. The Southern Elegance will transport us to the port.

( everytime I talk about this I want to go WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!)
:rotfl:

Sue, I am looking to lose about 60 lbs! If all goes well, I'll bring a before photo!

Wow 60 lbs that is great, what is your plan, I would love to get motivated again to loose weight.....

I'm right there with you! If the rates for early January are any indication of what the February rates will be . . . it'll be worth the wait and booking with SW.

Weight Watchers and working out at home...I really hope this works!

For anyone who is waiting for Southwest flights to be opened for booking for our cruise dates . . . . . they are available NOWWWWW!

Sue -- I sent you a PM with this same message!

I was able to secure non-stop flights for Friday evening going to Orlando and Saturday afternoon leaving Orlando for 4 of us . . . . $944.40. Much, much better rate than I could get with Delta or any other carrier ($462 cheaper and that isn't direct flights)!!!!

Scoop up those good rates now!

BTW -- The flight going to MCO was full fare and flight returning was Internet One-Way. I would have wished for Internet one-way rate both directions but . . . hey, I'm still saving money!!!

Hi Lisa!

I got my Southwest flights today too. I was at work and I had a 15 minute break. As usual, I checked the computer, expecting to see January 9th as the last day for booking. I almost fell out of my chair when I saw March 9!! Of course, my CC was out in my car, so I practically bolted through the school to get it. I never typed so fast in my life! We got a rate of $350 pp (including taxes and fees, etc), which was higher than I had hoped, but much better than anything else around here for the Manchester airport. The lowest rate for the days we are going was over $500pp (before taxes and fees) on any other airline. I figure we saved about $750 total. :thumbsup2
I am just glad it's over. Now I don't feel compelled to check my computer every 5 minutes.
The only thing I am concerned about is getting the boarding pass on line 24 hours before the flight. We will be leaving Saturday when we debark, so I won't be able to print our boarding pass. I have a feeling we may get D group for boarding. I am afraid the 5 of us may end up sitting all over the place on the plane. I may check to see what the internet costs from the ship :confused3 .

We also booked our flight last night flying Southwest out of Bradley. $1850 total for the four of us round trip - OUCH! Had to pay full fare for both departing and return. Time flies, I see my last post was in May. Before we know it we'll be off to Florida.

Sue:

Set up what I did when my DD(16) and I went to WDW in August . . .

Give someone realiable your confirmation number and ask them to log in exactly 24 hours in advance of the return flight and have then check you in. You can still go back and print the boarding passes from the ship . . . OR . . . on Castaway Day, make a trip back to the ship to login in at one of the Internet locations and check in.

I'll have my laptop and will probably have wireless access (so no printer for me) so I will be able to check in for myself but honestly, who wants to miss out on any time at Castaway! I'll probably have my oldest DD AND my sister check us in while they are at work that Friday (if one forgets, the other won't).

Thanks Christine! Trying to figure out how to use the forum thing...It's such a great resource.

Are you doing the on-line WW program? I LOVE that point calculator! It makes it so much easier than figuring out the points with the books. 10 lbs may not seem like much, but I know where you are coming from. I am a WW lifetime member after losing about 50 pounds. It starts fast, then it comes off a little at a time. Weight comes on MUCH faster than it goes away. I am 10 lbs over my goal weight now, and I am hoping to drop it before it becomes, 20, 30, 40... I think the best thing for me to help me was to put a photo of my bathing suit (from Land's End Catalog) on the fridge, as well as write the points value in BOLD on every box or bag in my pantry. It was easier to pick something lower in points when the high points were glaring at me. :goodvibes Good luck on your quest!!

It's raining and cold so I figured I'd work on our SUNNY vacation in February :goodvibes ....

Have any of you been to Universal Studios recently? I think we may stay there 2/14 & 2/15. We can spend the 14th 15th and 16th in the parks, then head to the Residence In at the port the night before we cruise. It is substantially less money than Disney, and my kids have never been to Universal. DH and I wen't about 12 years ago, so I am sure it's changed. Just looking for feedback. :confused3

BTW: I can't tell you how good it feels to have our flights booked! Now I can book cars/limos/hotels/attractions and really feel like it's coming together! ..and we get points for it too!

I am a self proclaimed trip-plan-aholic, so I can't wait to tie up all the loose ends! :goodvibes

Sue,
I was at Universal about 2 1/2 years ago and I thought it was great for my kids. They were 9 and 6. I would like to go back. My girlfriend just went there a month ago with her two DD8 and DS11. They LOVED it also. My favorite ride was E.T. It was fantastic.
It's missing the mouse magic but the rides are really great. We didn't do Island of Adventure then because my son was a bit young and we only had one day. But my girlfriend did and they really enjoyed it. She is pretty picky too.

Hope this is helpful!

We are flying down on the 14th also and will spend some time at the parks and possibly Universal also. I was trying to decide if we should go to the Kennedy Space center. We have left over tickets for Disney so we may do a day there too.

I am becoming so excited about our cruise!!! Yipeeeee!
