February 11, 2012 Eastern Caribbean on the Disney Magic***

Hello everyone! First off, wow, 20 plus pages of reading material for this cruise. It took me awhile to get through it all.:thumbsup2

I am Doug, and we are experiencing a whole bunch of firsts. First cruise for all of us, first Disney experience too!

We only booked last week for the Feb 11th cruise and we're all so looking forward to it. It has become such a big event for my girls they are ready to overlook Christmas! lol They have been counting down their sleeps already.... ;)

I have to admit that it has been an overwhelming flood of info since booking. I purchased a PassPorter book and it was in here where I found out about this forum. I look forward to learning more and reading all of your experiences, thoughts and ideas. Thanks!

p.s. we arrive on the 10th as most flights from Toronto don't arrive until the afternoon. We'll stay at the airport Hyatt overnight before heading to the cruise. We have our room, 6002, an inside stateroom on the outside of the ship! ;) lol Oh well, not like you spend much time in there anyways, right?

Welcome DougieJ and family! So glad you are cruising with us. I think this is a first cruise for a lot of folks. It is for us as well! We are super excited!;)

Are you on FaceBook? If so, search for February 11 Disney Magic Cruise, ask to join...I am sure they will accept you! haha We are doing a Dismeet and a FE gift exchange if you would like to participate. There is a googledoc you can fill out on the FB page.
Looking forward to meeting you all!:goodvibes

Welcome dougie and family!!!
Two of our girls are close in age to yours (8 & 5). They will be happybtonhear about more girls on board.

What time is your port arrival time? Several of us have 11:30-noon, and we will create some kind of sign or signal to identify each other...

Welcome to the group!!

Thanks for the welcome guys!

1. Not sure of arrival time, I guess whenever we decide to stagger down from our hotel room. I imagine we will try to get one of the first shuttles since we are already at the airport. I'm thinking the girls will be awake extra early and raring to go! ;)

2. A meet would be great. Or Dismeet as it was put... ;)

3. I have been reading about the FE, but I have to admit, even after checking the other posts, I am still a tad confused. Costs, quantity, acceptable items, that sort of thing.... I'm sure I'll get it figured out, and my girls love being crafty! ;) Will def keep this in mind, but I understand the logistics of it for others, so we'll think quickly.... ;)

4. We have booked 2 excursions, one being the Tortola dolphin encounter as my girls really want to do this in St Thomas and St John, the other is See & Sea Island tour in the semi-submersible in St Maarten. Don't want to schedule too much. ;)

We are in the late seating as well, we have heard from others that this works out better in the long run for younger ones as they are awake for the show. Then the counselors will take them from you 45 minutes into dinner! Alone time to eat with the other half? Hmm, can't remember the last time we did! ;)

It is nice to enjoy dinner alone! :) We do main seating because our kids are so young but we take them to the club and nursery about 45 min into dinner. It works perfectly. It would be even more perfect if the counselors picked up from early dinner too.

Doug -
It looks like you signed up for FE - but I wanted to encourage you that your girls will LOVE IT! Our kids loved it last time - several times a day when we stopped back to the room, there would be little trinkets to welcome us. I think the gifts can be as small or as elaborate as you wish. We received things like candy, pirate coins, disney pens and paper, magnets, recipes, other food, gifts from people's hometowns, glow bracelets, little pirate treasure boxes with jewels inside and I'm sure I'm forgetting a bunch of other stuff. We delivered our gifts on one day and it wasn't hard at all. If you google it, you can find a bunch of info.

Merry Chistmas everyone.

It's our tradition to go see a movie on Christmas day. We went and saw the Muppets and it was great. They played a Disney Cruise Line commercial before the movie. It was a very pleasant surprise.

My wife Rachel and I would love to join the list .
We have done it in the past and would really love to do it again.
It is fun getting little things each day so who is in and how do we get on the list.
Thanks,
Phil Hutchings

We love to get on the list who is running it. We love getting little things each day
So could you please tell me how to get on it .
Thanks,
Phil

This is our Christmas present to ourselves!! This is our second cruise (we were on the 7-night western Caribbean in 11/10). We have done the Fish Extenders in the past and had a blast. We are looking forward to our cruise for Valentine's day:lovestruc.

Has anyone had the third dining rotation on the Magic? The rotation starts with Parrot Cay, Lumeire and then Animator's Palette. I was wondering what the rest of the rotation was going to be so that I can figure out what restaurant we are in for Pirate Night.

We don't have any children with us (sorry kids!! ours are grown), but look forward to making a few friends.:lovestruc

Has anyone seen the Navigators for this cruise?? Has anyone parked at the dock??

Have a Magical Day!! (DVC Phil is mine!!)

Hey all....

So, I'm watching some hockey on tv when my cell phone rings. I answer it and it is a recording from Disney Cruise lines telling me that my itinerary will be adjusted for an approaching storm! The recording tells me that I am scheduled to depart October 29, 2011. Wait a sec, huh? What was that date again? I was a tad confused and listened to the recording again. My ports of call were to be St Maarten, Tortola and Castaway Cay..... again, huh? I wrote down the number to call for more info, and did just that. After 15 minutes on the phone, I was told I was the 2nd person to call in after this recording. They have no idea why a call went out, firstly for an expired sailing, and secondly for a scheduled Feb 11, 2012 sailing! All info in my profile is correct and they were stumped as to why I received the call. Hmmmm, gremlins at work here???? ;) :confused3

45 more days..... :yay:
