I'm sure it's been asked and answered on here before but I couldn't find the thread...

What is your favorite counter service restaurant in Disneyland? Why? What's your favorite thing to order there?

What about favorite snacks?

We have only one day & though I love WDW dining and would like to see what Disneyland has to offer I don't want to spend the time eating..lol. Still, I'd like to enjoy what we do eat & keep the kiddos nourished enough to keep going.

(NOT going to California Adventure in that short a time)

Thanks!!

CORN DOG from either the red cart on main street or the Stage Door Cafe in DL, or the Corn Dog Castle in DCA.

My favorite CS is French Market in NOS. I usually get the French Dip. DD loves the mac and cheese from there a well.
Snack wise...I also like the corn dogs...especially the hot link corn dog at Corn Dog Castle in DCA. DH likes the turkey legs...prefers the ones at DL vs. DCA.

Bengali BBQ's 'Meat on a Stick' It's AWESOME!

My BF loves DL corndogs. I really like the chicken skewers w/ chimichurri (sp?) sauce, pita bread on a bed of rice pilaf. That's at CA's Paradise Garden Grill. I had a bit of my aunt's turkey leg, and that was hot, juicy, delicious, and messy! No wonder they stuck that thing on a T-shirt!

I love the corn dogs too! Super quick bite :) I also love the skewers.

Ok I also love French Market! But corn dogs and skewers are faster!

I like Rancho Del Zocalo, decent food and fast. I also like the salads at Pizza Port and the Foccacia Bread. For snacks we like churros and ice cream bars. :)

My favorite quick service is the French Market in New Orleans Square. Lots of good items to choose from (quite a variety). My favorites are the french dip, Na Awlin's Salad, beef stew (in a bread bowl), and Jambalaya. They are also near the Mint Julep window, so you can get a (non-alcoholic) Mint Julep and Mickey Beignets for dessert.

What about favorite snacks?
There are so many yummy snacks at DLR.
  • The Dole Whip Float (like the one at MK) is really good, but there are usually really long lines.
  • The Mickey Beignets (at the Mint Julep Bar) are also really yummy.
  • Mickey soft pretzels
  • Tigger Tails - I'm not a huge fan of marshmallows, but these are unique to DLR. They're marshmallows dipped in caramel, dipped in white chocolate, covered in orange sugar with black stripes.

Is the beef stew good? I love beef stew, especially in a bread bowl, and I never noticed this before. I'll have to try that - I hope it's not full of onions.

Fried chicken at Plaza Inn. Yum! There's nothing better.

Agreed! We loved the Plaza inn breakfast with Minnie and lunch/ dinner fried chicken!

I don't recall it having lots of onions, but I can't swear by that. It had a really deep rich flavor. I think it showed up when they overhauled the menu back in early November.

I think you're right that it showed up during the last menu revision. DH had the beef stew during Thanksgiving week and really enjoyed it. I don't remember seeing onions in it, so it must not have been a major component. Our family really enjoys French Market too; we have found quite a number of things we like there even after the newest menu changes. I've noticed French Market isn't a location that gets a lot of praise on these boards.

Anyone know if there is a veggie stew? I remember river belle used to have one ages ago.

Neither the French Market nor the River Belle Terrace have a veggie stew listed on their menus. Cafe Orleans (not a QS) has a N'awlins Vegetable Ragout on their menu.

Oh my gosh this thread is making me so hungry :goodvibes. I can't wait to try some of these dishes when we are at DLR in June. I am most excited about the corn dogs at the Little Red Wagon, the chili in a bread cone from Cozy Cone Motel, and the Fried Chicken from Plaza Inn. However, the beef stew in a bread bowl???? :yay:, I love anything in a bread bowl and yes I am making sure to stop by the Pacific Wharf Cafe to get me some soup in a bread bowl as well :thumbsup2. I am going to jot this down on my list of must tries while there so I don't forget :goodvibes.

I love eating at the French Market. It has all kinds of good stuff.

Another vote for corn dogs and Tigger Tails! Also, we like the Boardwalk Pasta in DCA.

We like the Bengal Barbeque for the skewers. The last time I was there (April 2012) we ate at the new Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe. I had a turkey sandwich that was so good I dreamed about it for the next month (could be that I was pregnant at the time and craving it lol). Other people in our group got the grilled cheese with tomato bisque which was also really good. Everything we tried was delicious. I also like River Belle Terrace, good food, healthier options. Of course, if you want a good burger Tomorrowland Terrace and Village Haus are both good options. TT is outdoors and VH has both indoor and outdoor seating.

I personally love Rancho Del Zocalo, especially the Carne and Enchillada combo! French Market is also great, we had amazing shrimp fritters there recently.
