Favorite family vacation?

Grand Canyon and river rafting trips, spending a week in a cottage on a lake in the midwest and waterskiing, DC and colonial Williamsburg, Yorktown, etc., Maui.

Have a great vacation wherever you decide to venture!

Another vote for a cruise. We love DCL! It's a great way to visit places without being stuck there for a week. If you don't like a port just get back on the ship. :thumbsup2

Not sure how old your kids are but mine are 5, 9 & 10. Our favorite vacations have been:

1) Costa Rica- beautiful & so many amazing activities
2) St John- we rent a house & relax on the beautiful beaches
3) All inclusives in Mayan Riviera- fun for everyone & so reasonably priced
4) Hilton Head- again very relaxing

And of course Disney & Universal (well, me & the kids, DH hates theme parks!)

We loved Atlantis and did it on a budget no problem. Second was All Inclusive in Mexico. We also really liked Grand Cayman Island.

With my kids (aside from Disney), we've liked:

Wisconsin Dells
Branson
Panama City Beach
And shorter trips to Nashville and Chattanooga

Going back to my youth:
Yellowstone - definitely my all time favorite destination
CA coast
Colorado
The Smokies
Grand Canyon/Petrified forest/Painted desert

Other than WDW, we usually go the Smoky Mtn. National Park for a couple weeks. We love the hikes, biking in Cades Cove, and camping inside the park near Gatlinburg, by a stream (river). So very relaxing.

England was awesome. I went when I was a tenn with my parents. With my kids we haven't done a lot. There is so much in California to explore. We have done a long weekend to SF and we have gone camping.

Besides WDW our other favorite vacations are Hawaii, Grand Canyon/Monument Valley, San Diego, and while we were stationed overseas our faves were a cruise to Greece/Turkey, Ireland & London.

I'm the only one in the family whose favorite vacation is WDW.

The 15 and 12 year old girls and dh all prefer renting a house on a lake in the Adirondacks. I find it very interesting that the kids, who must always be connected with their friends and busy every minute, genuinely enjoy being cut off from that in a cell-phone free, TV free zone.

We go to a lake within striking distance of Lake Placid, where they have an ice skating show and ski jumping contests (on plastic in the summer) which makes for a change from paddling around the lake and relaxing.

Can you recommend areas/lakes? We have something like this in mind for this summer, thanks!

We loved Discovery Cove... you get a 14 day ticket to Sea World, Busch Gardens OR Aquatica with admission.. for like $50 more, you can go to all three for 14 days!! Truly was our favorite day of vacation.... Atlantis is a close second... Disney Cruise is number 3.:cloud9:

For those of you who cruise....do you have passports?? Just wondering about this for my family. Thanks!!!

As far as the areas you mentioned, Kure Beach, NC.

Edit: Sorry, you are looking for new places, and have already been to the NC coast. Little slow this AM.

Yes, we have passports. I don't believe they are required if you are cruising in the Western Hemisphere, but it does make life easier.

Our favorites have been: Beaches Turks and Caicos (love it just as much as WDW), So cal tour (DLR, Hollywood, Sea World, SD Zoo), NYC touring, and just waiting for our new adventure next year.

Ours would be Thailand. The big cost is getting there. What about a Southern CA vacation. The City Pass includes 3 days at Disneyland. I prefer Disney World, but Disneyland and California Adventure have some special things about them. We also did Universal Studios Florida for one Spring Break. My kids loved it. We did no Disney just a 3 or 4 day pass at Universal. We stayed at one of their hotels although pricey because we all got the front of the line pass. My kids want to go back. They love the Hard Rock hotel.

OK, so dh said he would like to go somewhere else before we go back to disney .... Although it is crazy talk , I realized he probably does get a vote :) With the kids we have been to Atlantis, loved it but a bank breaker, Ocean City Maryland, Rocky Mountain NP, coastal NC, SC, and GA, Fire Island and of course WDW. All were great, but Disney and Atlantis were our favorites. What were your favorite family vacations so far?

We love to vacation in the Smoky Mountains. Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge area. We usually go every year but haven't in a year or so because we are saving for our Sept WDW trip ;)
