Fastpass during EMH

Just a question about EMH for MK. How crowded is Fantasyland usually? Do you need to use Fastpass or are the lines pretty minimal? We will be going in mid-October. Oh and does anyone know how much later Ariel's Grotto opens than the rest of the park? Thanks!

Usually during EMH the FP machines are not working, the lines are short, so you can just walk in any attraction. At 9am you can start using FP's.

Ariel's grotto opens at 10am.

I just returned and can confirm that FP is not needed during EMH in Fantasyland. We did get a Space Mountain FP first thing.
