FastPass+ confusion

Can anybody please tell me how FastPass+ works for those staying at an on site hotel but who do not purchase their Disney tickets ahead of time, or who have to pick their tickets up at Guest Relations on the day of their visit (discounted tickets, or tickets obtained on airline points, etc...)? Do they get left out if they can't link Disney tickets numbers ahead of time to their reservation in My Disney Experience?

If you order online or by phone and do will call, you should be able to link the will call confirmation# to MDE and book your FP+. I did it last year with my DVC PAP that I picked up when I got to the park.

Awesome! I thought it had to be the actual ticket numbers. Thanks for the prompt response to my question.
