FAQ about the Disney Dining Plan

you are right.
i thought the op meant for the free dining program.

you know, that would really smart. having to pay for the dining program when you are going during the time others are getting it for free.

We just got back from 6 nights 5 days at Pop Century w/ free dining.

Here's how it worked for us (I will do a detailed dining report later.)
We checked in on Sunday, 8/21, and could immediately use our dining.

We had connecting rooms, and the way the rooms were assigned, we had one adult, 2 kids, 1 infant on one room, 2 adults (including my 11yo) and 1 kid, and 1 infant on the other room.
The whole family was not on one card! The credits were split between the two connecting rooms. This is very important, as we were not told of this in advance. It was a pain to keep track of the credits on 2 cards all the time. :confused3
The good news is, I could buy as many CS meals as I wanted using one card, no matter who's name was on it.
For example: The card under my name had 12 adult CS and 6 kids CS. At some meals I would purchase 4 adult meals for myself, dd11, and for the little kids to share. It didn't matter that there were 3 names attached to the card.

Table service was similar. We only used one card at a time, so of the 18 TS credits on each card, I would use 6 at a meal. At TS the kid's under 11 were required to have kid's meals, but there was never a problem getting plates for them to share with the 1 and 2 year olds.

We got 6 CS meals the first night, 3 of them kid's meals, and in no way could the 8 of us finish all that food. From that point on we shared CS. If we had had more time in the morning I would have used them on breakfast.
We used all of our TS (2 on one of the days), only approx. 28 of 36 CS, and had 8 snack credits unused. (I was going to fill up on snacks before we left, but Everything Pop was packed that morning, so we skipped it. Should have done it the night before.)

And also Le Cellier is not a signature restaurant, its only 1 credit. (and our most expensive and yummy meal to boot!)

I will add up my totals for my dining report.
In the meantime, any questions?

This post has been extremely helpful. I am thinking of adding dining to our Dec trip and I think that I am convinced now!

This is waht we did. We (me DH and 2 DS) were at POP 8/21-8/28. We would use 2 cs meals for breakfast. 2 adult meals, my ds 9 and I split the pancakes(you get 3) and DH had the omlet. DS 12 had a muffin ( 1 dessert) and then there was still fruit, Bagel, muffin or danish for us to eat. We used our mugs so we would usually get a bottle of water for later or the kids would get milk( they were happy to see strawberry) For lunch we would use the other 2 credits and split the adult meals. It was so hot that we wern't that hungry and with the desserts there was just enough food. Any questions just ask.

Oh, one more thing, bottles of chocolate or strawberry milk, and bottles of oj are not counted as snacks. Just the fountain apple juice and pop and such.

Happy Anniversary! :cheer2: Did you enjoy the California Grill? If you had one restaurant to go to, would this be it? :confused3

That's a good question. We ate at many of our favorites on this last trip: Yachtman's Steakhouse, Flying Fish, California Grille, and Jiko. I would say that I enjoyed them in that order. I liked the California Grille a lot ... but a lot of the restaurant is location, location, location. Being on the top of the CR for Wishes really rocks, especially when you can see it from the window. Even watching from the balcony makes for a special night. I personally liked the food at the YSH and FF better. {{shrug}} If I were to go to only ONE restaurant it would be Victoria and Alberts, but it's not included on the meal plan.

At ASMo, they had a listing of "snack" items on the dining plan and the bottle non alcoholic drinks were listed, chocolate or strawberry milk, 24 oz bottles of water. I'm almost sure it was all drinks but alcohol considered a snack.

What time was POP crowded in the mornings ?

I have read some of the pages on this thread but it is just too long to read all of it, so I apologize if any of these questions have been asked before but am really interested in the answers!

1. If I want to use the MYW Dining Plan (for our stay in May 2006) is there a price limitation on meals? For example, do we have to stay under $35 per day or is everything included-appetizer, entree, dessert, cs meal, and snack, regardless of price? That's a big deal for me! I don't want to have to worry about paying extra if it comes over the $35 a day/per person cost!

2. I noticed on one website that the Coral Reef is considered signature dining and would require 2 ts meals but on the included meal list it just lists it as a ts meal which would only require 1 ts meal. Has anyone been recently? Did it "cost" you 1 ts meal or 2?

3. If I book my package to include everything (resort, park tickets, and dining plan) and then have to cancel my trip for any reason will they refund all of my money or will I lose some of what I have already paid for the package?

TIA!!! I REALLY appreciate any help on this!

Just about anything was a dessert. We were getting the muffins or danish as we were sharing breakfast. We also got some grapes, but they had apples, bananas, fruit cups and watermelon. The cakes were out so I guess if you wanted a true "dessert" you could also get that. One morning we took a mickey ricecrispie treat as dessert for the park. I hope this helps.

To the poster who asked about the milk being a snack. We only got the milk as a drink for a meal. When we tried to get the Ice tea for a snack we were originally told no. I asked for a manager(thats a whole other story about the snacks) she came back and said there was a change and we could get the ice tea. Maybe it was a change, or maybe tha manager was tired of the cranky people trying to redeem snacks on Sunday.

tasha,
#1 there is no limit on how much the food cost at the resturant on the dining plan. once you purchase it you receive one table service, counter service, beverage and dessert.
if you eat at le cellier and order the $35.99 steak, appetizer of 9>99, coke 2.50 and dessert of 5.99 you pay nothing. the dining plan covers the food, tax and 15% gratuity.

#2 coral reef is 2 ts yachtsman, hoop de doo, aloha spirit (something like that) are also 2 ts.

#3 depends on how you book it.
if you book thru disney, you have a certain number of days to cancel for a full refund. i think it is maybe 30? when i book AAA, i have a time period of cancelling 5 days prior for a full refund.

i read the cancellation policy but can't remember the specifics on days out it has to be cancelled by. one of the programs is you pay a one nights room stay within 14 days of booking the package and full payment due 30 days prior to check in. when not booking thru crt/disney it is the downpayment and total package payment by time of check in.
i know someone one can do a better job on answering number 3 for you.
it is still early and haven't had enough coffee in me yet.

Coral Reef is currently 2TS, but it's listed as just 1 TS on the 2006 brochure, and there have been posts where people have called to confirm that info. :flower:

We're going in Oct., so it's 2 for us, but I'm not sure where I would have fit in another TS meal anyway. :)

Okay, it's early and I didn't get enough sleep so my mind isn't as clear as usual so let me make sure I understand this...there have been people that called and were able to confirm that Coral Reef is in fact only 1 TS starting in 2006? Is that correct?

Okay, we have already book MYW + Dining thru AAA for the first part of our trip. After having read through all 48 pages, I have two questions:

kaylie&laurensmom writes -
On the Disneyworld website, so I will take as fact - there will also be changes for 2006, such as an increase in the price, Coral Reef is going to 1 credit, Wolfgang Puck is no longer available as counter service, and desserts will not be available at breakfast.

My specific concern is Wolfgang Puck. Can anyone confirm this change?

Also, MemoryMakers2669 writes -
Don't see it posted here, but thought I would add it just in case. The Candlelight Processional Dinner Packages are now accepted on the Dining Plan!

Can anyone confirm this? I was planning with the assumption that this would not be included and will have to reconfigure my credits.

Thanks! :earsgirl:

Sunkissed - I personally can't confirm either one, but I have read posts that said they had. You could do a search for those, or call to double check. :flower:
