Trip Report - March/April 2025

Thursday 4/3/25 Continued
We went to dinner at Heath’s Steakhouse which was recommended by the front desk at the hotel.

We sat at the bar. We ended up chatting with another couple also eating at the bar who were driving home to NJ from Naples Florida. The bartender was very chatty and engaging so we were all having a nice conversation.

Scott had a Martini and I had a Hurricane.

Scott ordered the filet and lobster. His sides were macaroni and cheese and asparagus. His lobster was burnt on the outside but raw on the inside.

I had the Mahi Mahi which came with corn and beans. I still needed to choose sides so picked the stuffed potato and broccoli.

For dessert we had the chocolate cake

The restaurant overall was just OK and we wouldn’t go back. While the service was great, the food wasn’t.

We drove back to the hotel after dinner.

Hi. We are planning our next trip and will definitely write all about it. We enjoy working out regularly; we do it at home too. While there are some days we think about skipping it, it’s a slippery slope where skipping a day turns into skipping a week and so on. It’s also easier to enjoy the treats and bad food on vacation when you know you started your day doing something healthy. Thank you for commenting.

Friday 4/4/25
We skipped the gym and the hotel breakfast this morning, we just showered and got dressed so we could get on the road. We left a bit before 7; the navigation in the car said 547 miles until we are home.

We stopped at Starbucks to get Scott a cappuccino and a breakfast sandwich. I wasn’t hungry yet so didn’t get anything.

We were in Virginia at 9:05

We were looking for Starbucks for me to get something for breakfast but didn’t see one. We stopped at Sheetz in Virginia for gas and I ended up getting breakfast in their store. They had a cute kiosk where you create your own sandwich so I ordered a scrambled egg with bacon and cheese on a croissant. I ordered cheesy bacon bombs for Scott (he also got himself some potato chips and coffee). I ordered an iced caramel vanilla latte for myself. I thought my breakfast was very good, surprisingly good. I would definitely get breakfast/coffee at Sheetz again if we were passing one on our drive.

We were in Maryland at 12:35
We were in Delaware at 2:30, being a small state to drive through, it wasn’t long before the next state.

We were in New Jersey at 2:50, at the very bottom of the state and we live at the very top. We have a few hours to go before we’re home. Similar to when we first get to Florida and still have a few hours, these last few hours seem to take so long. It didn’t help that we hit some traffic in New Jersey.

We were home at 5:45. The cats were happy to see us so we spent some time playing with them. Sometimes one of them will give us a bit of a cold shoulder for a bit when we first get home, but not today. Maybe she realized she’s missing out by doing that while the other cats get all the attention.

We were debating where to go for dinner, but after the drive and having eaten out just about every night for the last few weeks, we decided to just order pizza.
