Fantasmic! Speculation

Maybe they're waiting until school goes back so that they can have an attraction draw after everyone's vacation time is over. If late August and Sept are "traditionally" slow, what better way to get people in than to offer F! after being gone for what seems like forever. Follow the money, I always say.

I doubt it. The parks aren't really slow in late August as the APs are unblocked, then there is Labor Day, and then Halloween starts. No reason to do a big "thing" for a handful of slower days. It's just delayed due to construction and weather.

I agree. Especially since they are sticking to the "Summer 2017" return date. I think the July target date is probably accurate, but they are waiting to make an official announcement until they see how the rehearsals go. At least that's what I am hoping!

The quote about Aladdin joining F! is " The show will also feature new scenes inspired by Disney animated classics such as “Aladdin”" I wonder what other classics will be incorporated.

There will also be PotC, Tangled, and Lion King, I believe.

With Tangled and Aladdin it really makes me think the princess segment is replaced. Lion King would be cool too; I wonder where they're putting that in regards to the old show.

Disney announced that they were selling F! 25th anniversary merchandise. Here's the AP exclusive shirt. It's a little hard to see because it's purple letters on a black shirt, but to the right of the graphic, it says "I was there. May 13, 2017." So then I guess there was supposed to be an event? For the 20th they had AP after hours viewings and showed an anniversary video about the show on the water screens. If they already had merch with a date on it, they could have tried that, brought out a floating screen or even screened old footage of F! somewhere else in the park. The shirt is $30, for an event that didn't even happen.

That's correct. Very different. They will rope of sections along the Rivers of America ahead of the show. They did experiment with using FP as an admission ticket to those areas so I'm guessing that's how it will be when it opens. There is also a section for dining packages. But it's all just pavement. No seats.
I know there are dining packages & there may now be FP, but are there dessert packages too for this show?

They've had a Fantasmic! dessert party in the past, and I hope they will bring one back when it returns. At the time the show went on hiatus, they were only doing dining packages.

Am I correct in assuming that when it does return it will not be nightly? Not going until October, but I'm trying to plan as much as I can in advance! I'm still too used to WDW where almost everything happens on the daily! :)

It's usually nightly during peak seasons but, by October, it'll probably be only a few nights a week, I would *guess* non-Halloween party weekend nights and maybe one non-party weeknight.

Rumor is they are having technical issues with some of the new content (particularity PTOC POTC), and that is what is putting its Summer re-launch in jeopardy.

That's probably a correct assumption. With the enormous amount of crowds they have each day of the year, it SHOULD be nightly...just like it is at WDW. But it's a money call. Lots of cast in that show.

So yeah, my BFF and I saw those shirts last week when we were there for Grad Nite and we kept asking the CMs about the date. Most tried to play it off like they didn't have any clue (and maybe they didn't:confused3) but a CM at Disneyana finally said that they were all pretty sure that F! was supposed to reopen on May 13th and they had all of the merch ready to go (regular and AP shirts) and when all of the setbacks started happening, Disney just decided to sell the shirts and hope no one noticed the date. According to the CMs the shirts have been selling like hot cakes and I can understand why - with the exception of the date, they are pretty cool shirts (full confession - I bought one cause I loved the dragon on the side). I just have to laugh though - Disney is very confident in their marketing abilities that even with the date as a reminder of their screw-up, they can still sell anything. :rotfl:
