I share your excitement about Peter Pan returning to replace the Pirates sequence! There was just something about the Peter Pan scene that seemed to fit the show better. Maybe it's that Peter Pan fits the nostalgic vibe of DL and Rivers of America.

I never liked the newer version they were doing at DL. They rearranged some of the music and it wasn't as good. I hope they return to some of the original orchestration. I didn't mind the POTC scene, but think I prefer Peter Pan for this show as well.

When I saw "Fantasmic!" at WDW nearly 20 years ago, I was surprised how different it was from the DL version. It seemed like the writers wanted to stuff in a reference to every '80s/'90s/early '00s Disney movie, so it felt very choppy to me. The most recent DL version wasn't as bad but was moving in the same direction. So I'll be happy if they simplify the storyline, but I'm not placing a bet on that.

I agree! The 'softer' new music feels a bit odd. Not sure how to describe it but needs more powerful orchestra feeling/sounds for key moments like the original had.

Yes, exactly - softer is the right word. It's less punchy. Like, I lvoe the part with the three princess barges, and they kind alternate between the princess songs and the Fantasmic! song, and they blended them in way that it doesn't stand out. I was disappointed in that.
