Fanny Pack Faux Pas

This made me laugh, too. . .I'm actually thinking of shopping for fanny packs this week for our trip. I don't want to carry a purse in the park, and taking off/putting on the backpack is a pain, as well, And, I want to carry my wallet, my son's money (or, buy him a fanny pack, too) and maybe a few other things. I am not a fanny pack kind of girl either. But, Disney's another story. My wallet won't fit in my pockets, and I don't like carrying loose credit cards and/or asking my husband everytime I need something. I also don't feel comfortable hiding my purse in a stroller while we ride.

So, fanny packs it's gonna be for me, ds12, and ds7. My husband doesn't need one, and it would look really really bad on him. I think a basic black one for me oughta do it!

Its called: The WALLET BAGG and I got it thru eBags.com It is a FLAT bag, that was designed by a Flight Attendant. Go to Baggallini.com to see it, but order it thru eBags, its cheaper.;)

Still waiting on the Larger version of my Wallett Bagg. Hope to get it today!;) I know this will be a LOT better than the "bum bag."::yes::

I was just on ebags looking for this Wallett bagg. They have a small and large size--which one would you recommend for a camera, phone, money, tickets, and maybe a few other things? We also have a stroller, so I certainly don't need it for much else! but, do you think the small one would hold the phone and camera? I was thinking I'd pick up a cheap fanny pack, but these are inexpensive and, I think, look better.

Poohbear123-

Thanks for that info. I will check on it today. I also would like to know your suggestion about what size. I will putting wallet, phone, tisses and tickets-things like that.

But for Disney, I would use the larger one, it is the same amount as the smaller one.;) I can put my Phone, and Digital Camera in this bag, with no problems, plus you can wear it 4 different ways!::yes::

Poohbear123:

I could not find the large bags you were speaking of at ebags.com. Do you know if they sell them there? I think that is the one that would be best for me, if I can find it at a cheaper cost. Thanks.:earsgirl:

I'd also like to know about the large wallet bag. Looks like the perfect bag for the parks. :)

Go back to Ebags.com and click on to "Shop by Brand." Scroll down to Baggallini. The bag is #7. (SKU WBL149M) (CT10-19097). Make sure you order the MICROFIBER one, NOT the Nylon one. The size is 9X7X3. It is 39.99.

I just ordered mine, cause I was worried that they'd sell out after this post! But, they DID increase the price to 44.99! But, they DO offer free shipping, so that's a plus.

Also, I did a search on FROOGLE. . .that is the cheapest I could find!

Thanks, Poohbear!

I would just like to point out that the very hip Le Sport Sac sells fanny packs in really cute prints:

Le Sport Sac

And there's a hip-hop group called Fanny Pack!

Who knew?

I'm with the in-the-minority other poster who isn't afraid to wear a waistpack other places. Usually after WDW, at any rate, I'll wear it out, very convenient at the grocery store.

I rarely carry a purse anymore but most times I just stuff everything into pockets (little credit card holder, cell phone, tissues, keys -- probably a bigger fashion faux pas than wearing fanny pack!)

At WDW or any amusement park, fair, etc I would be lost w/o my waistpack. I have a mountainsmith HIE, which doesn't appear to be at eBags anymore, that is the perfect size for me. I can fit everything I need into it and I wear it in the front. I like the "hidden" money pocket; it keeps me from wadding up my cash and losing it when I open my bag.

I usually carry everybody's ticket media, my sunglasses case, tissues, lipbalm, sunscreen, money, key, cell phone, walkie talkie and even my small camera sometimes, though by that time it is getting pretty full. I hardly ever take it off on rides.

I will miss having a stroller. I like to be prepared and I prefer to also bring a backpack with other essentials (none valuable) that gets left on the stroller. Now this time will be our first time w/o one. I'll have to rethink the packback!

I do have a bigger lumbar pack that we use hiking. I'm just afraid it will be too bulky or hot. Guess I'll have to try it.

Well, I've been back from WDW since June 13th and I'm still carrying the fanny pack. There are a couple reasons for this, the main one is that I'm at the age now that I just don't give a heck what is "in" or "cool" anymore. Nor do I care what others think. It's a very liberating stage of life, you'll see.:teeth:

Reason number two is that I'm babysitting my 8mo granddaughter during the day while my daughter works and I tired of bending down to pick her up and my purse falling off my shoulder and smacking her upside the head. Plus, two hands are very handy with an 8mo when you're out and about. One little trick that comes in handy is that I can swing the fanny pack around so that it is resting on my hip and when I carry Haley on my hip it gives a little support and doesn't pull on my back as much.

Reason number three is that I earn my living selling on eBay and go to auctions twice a week, estate sales, yard sales, etc. and having two hands free there is handy. Before I started wearing the fanny pack, I had my purse fall off my shoulder (again) and hit a $250 Delft vase sending it flying off the table and breaking it. No they didn't charge me for it, thank God. I go to one auction every Monday and even take Haley with me, so having both hands free is especially important.

I don't wear it everywhere though. I attended a wedding last night and took my little foofoo bag.;)

I only wear a fanny pack at WDW. I HATE carrying around backpacks/purses, and I always forget them places. With a fanny pack it's attached to me, at all times, so there's no way I can lose it. What doesn't fit in it doesn't go into the parks, with the exception of my camera which I carry around my neck (really dumb I know, I'm working on getting a small point and shoot again, because I hate how clunky mine is). My fanny pack is small too. It's from the Amex White Glove treatment back when we stayed at the Poly in '95. I've had that thing since the 2nd grade:earseek:

No fanny packs for us.

Dh & I take one backpack and take turns with it.

We carry drinks, sanwiches, fruit, digital camera in case, a nylon jacket for a/c or wet seats, a poncho to cover the bag, sunscreen, my purse......sunglasses....and who knows what else. That would never fly with a fanny pack.

It's also nice to have somewhere to stash half eaten popcorn when going onto the next ride. And we carry any small purchases we make.

Hi. I received my large-sized Wallett Bag today. It really will be roomy enough for everything we talk about here and works as a shoulder bag, across the chest kind of shoulder bag-messenger bag style, hip bag, and waist bag/fanny pack.

So, it seems like it will work wonderfully for our trip--more than enough room for everything I want to carry-phone, money, keys, credit cards, camera, and incidentals.

Also, I was at Wal-mart yesterday and purchased 2 fanny packs for my children. They were actually looked great (they have no problem with the whole fanny pack idea), had enough room for their autograph books, a camera if they take one, and the outside had a small water bottle pocket. That pocket really made the sale. That will be great to have them carry their own bottle.

And, best part? Walmart's fanny packs were $4.94. . .and really made very well!

Glad you like it, I can hardly wait to use mine in about 91 days!:o ;) ::yes::

Thanks, Poohbear, for your recommendation!

Can't wait to use mine either in. . .oh, about 73 days, 9 hours, 43 minutes. . .and counting!

Kendra

I know they look outdated and I don't look too fashionably hip with one sagging from my waist to my left hip - but hey, I go to WDW to see - NOT TO BE SEEN. I also enjoy having my hands free and not slinging a purse over my shoulder. :)
