DVC Chit Chat Thread

We have our basic outline of where we are eating, but I am not sold on our first night pick, due to possible option on night 2.

We will be at Typhoon Lagoon most of the day on check in day, staying at BRV and was gonna just do Whispering Canyon, but on Monday will be at Epcot and doing Akershus breakfast (prolly shoot for more of a brunch time like 930-10) and do a QS for dinner, which normally we do regal eagle a lot, but then thats BBQ two nights in a row.

We are already planning 1900 park fare and Ohana for other nights so that knocks those out for Sunday night, chef mickey's is very meh but that is an option. We have never done Steakhouse 71, but how much of a pain will it be to get to the Contemporary? Just take a boat over to MK then walk over I guess? Thats the big plus for Whispering Canyon, dont have to go anywhere for it.

Other thing would be to pick another QS in Epcot, so could go with Sunshine Seasons or Connections that night.

TLDR is it worth messing with the logistics of going to steakhouse 71 vs staying at resort for whispering canyon instead?

I cant imagine that Steakhouse 71 is worth going out of your way for. There will be other trips in which it may be a better fit. But I dont eat steak so Im not the best candidate to give advice. All I can say is I have made dining arrangements and then when in the thick of it I would much rather have eaten where it was convenient and didn't require as much planning.

When is your trip? If it's prior/post to the WL boat dock closure you can take the blue flag line boat that goes from WL to FW and CR (3pm to 10:45pm) without heading to MK. It's a nice, peaceful ride!

Was also about to say that the boats work great. On our trip in February, we did Steakhouse 71 for dinner one night and did just that - very quick boat ride from WL. If the boats were down, Uber/Lyft or driving your own car certainly wouldn't take very long either.

If you want to stay at WL, you probably already know, but you also have Geyser Point, Storybook Dining, Territory Lounge (for small bites), or the Roaring Fork QS.

If stick with Regal Eagle, might be a bit too much BBQ focused couple of days. Sunshine Seasons would be a good alternate.

If want more entertainment that first night than Ketchup …being so close, how about Hoop-Dee-Do it. Otherwise perhaps stay off the fixed schedule that first night and make it a Geyser Point dinner.

Trying to min/max the DDP, so might end up doing Chef Mickey's at this point if its pretty easy to get to Contemporary and back. The youngest two are still big into characters and that wont last forever... We are driving so have a car, but would rather not have to mess with driving if I can help it.

Thanks for the tips and ideas!

I like to keep my resort-to-resort travel to a minimum on busy days, and would have suggested No Plans and Roaring Fork whenever on a travel+water park day, but if you are DDP-constrained, that might not fit.

I would either skip Regal in favor of something else in Epcot, or do a two-fer TS day in Epcot, pairing Garden Grill with <something>.
