Extra Charges on your credit card

We returned from a (wonderful) trip to BWV last month. When they slipped the bill under the door on our checkout day we were OK with all the charges. When the credit card bill arrives there is an extra $1.40 charged. A call to BWV billing explains that there were 4 phone calls made. We made NO phone calls and definately not on the last day. Billing agrees to remove the charge. I'm sure I just spent at least the $1.40 to get that done.
What bothers me is that this is not an isolated event. At least half of our stays have various (small) unexpected charges for phone or fax charges. I have decided not to leave a credit card with the front desk anymore, Has anyone else experienced this?

We've not had this problem. If we ever do, I'd write a letter to the Member Satisfaction Manager about it. Since the calls occured on the last day, I can't help but wonder if the resort has a problem with housekeeping or maintenance personnel.

Best wishes -

Only once have I had a problem. I got charged twice for the same beer from a cart in front of Norway. They took it off.

This is gonna sound really dopey of me but...I was under the impression that you *had* to leave a cc...please tell me I'm wrong!

Nope you don't have to. You can't charge to your room and express check out is limited but you still don't have to.

I always do because it is easier to carry your Key to the World Card around than a bunch of other things. Any time I have had an issue, Disney has corrected it right away.

I hope it was a really good beer at least, or perhaps you got a refill? :teeth:

Seriously, we've never had a problem. I have a good head for figures, so the running tally I have in my head gets compared to the final bill; so far I've been darn close, usually only off by the charges DW makes and doesn't tell me about - all explained in the end tho. The little phone and fax charges would be awefully annoying, I would imagine, especially if I had not been using either (and that's why we have laptops and cellphones, right?). A quick note to the Member Satisfaction Manager would be merited.

I am a travel agent and I had a client staying at All Star Movies. They received a notice when they returned home for telephone charges the day of check out in excess of $300 for calls to the Domincan Republic (actually, the calls were made AFTER their flight had left the airport)! Obviousely housekeeping was a suspect and the charges were removed. Now I recommend to my clients to always watch your bill very closely and make sure you get receipts for cash payments at the front desk as well! It's sad that things like this happen.

We once stayed at POR and had a toll free call charged to our room that we didn't make. The front desk tried to give us a hard time...but I told her straight out that we weren't in the room at the time the call was made and we had a cell phone we would have used to make any calls!

I seriously suspect it was housekeeping...though I guess another guest could have walked in pretending to be us while housekeeping was in there and made the call.

You know, I think I may stop leaving a credit card as well....I don't think I've ever looked after my trip to see if they've charged something outrageous to our card!

I've never had a problem with false phone charges. The only time I had a problem with the room charge in about 20 trips was a double charge from MouseGears. It was promptly removed.

I prefer to use the room charge. I don't want to carry alot of money or travelers checks and I don't want my actual credit card # floating all over the place.

We had a wonderful trip 5/31/2004 (first with *MY* family DD-11, DS-8, DD-3).

We were there for 12 days, and charged everything. Two statements ago (Our Aug-Sept. Statement) on our Disney Visa, a $72.00 statement appears from POR. No one can tell me what it is. I'm protesting it with VISA, no satisfaction yet!

BTW Happy Birthday Cat what is a world card (Is that my room card?)

We always use a credit card, and have never had a problem. We don't ever make charged phone calls though.

Charging things twice is one happens at least one out of 4 trips, one time all my charges were on the bill twice. I always check my bill the night before we leave.

I have never had a problem.

However, you can always go down and check yourself out. If you request it at that point the charging features and the phone in your room can be cut off. Using Express checkout the phone is left on until some time when they just rolll them over.

That's a good idea! I wouldn't mind going down to the lobby to check out on the last morning - it never occured to me that I could request to cut off the phone.

Best wishes -
