Explosions and shootings in Paris

I understand cpanther, It's just a very very hard situation. this isn't a "typical" enemy. As much as it sounds good, we can't just go in and "take" lands. they are countries. Syria is a country Al-Assad is already 1 fruitcake short of a holiday dessert. I can only imagine what he would set off if we tried to invade.

I just think these roaches are a totally different type of enemy. we may have to come up with very original solutions

You handle your own business. If you want our help handling your business, we'll help. If you refuse our help and your internal issues become external issues that affect us - we'll handle your business for you whether you like it or not.

Either that, or we retract behind walls and let every man/country fend for themselves.

This is worth a read. Many people are seeing some pretty stunning parallels between the anti-Jewish sentiment during WW2 and what's happening now w Syrians.

Instead of seeing the parallels, too many are pleased that pols in states are "just saying no." I was shocked when a local TV station interviewed a Syrian immigrant business man who is pro-Assad and wanted other Syrians kept out because they were anti-Assad.

Americans should be asshamed of their religious prejudices in the late 1930s though the early 1940s and today too.

well we've got France, Russia and the US bombing so let's see what that does.

I wasn't alive in the 1930s or 1940s, so I feel no shame for what I didn't participate in or support. I'm lucky to be alive today in spite of the persecution that went on in that time period and have branches in my family tree with limbs cut short because of it.

I practice my own faith and don't interfere with anyone else's practice of theirs, so I feel no shame on that score either.

What do you want me to delete or change?
Maybe this quote from a CNN report will help, no proof of explosives but unsettling enough to cancel the game and evacuate the stadium:

German Interior Minister Thomas de Maizière declined to detail the threat during a news conference, adding that police "had good reasons" in shutting down the friendly game in the northern German city of Hanover.

De Maizière asked for "trust," saying "some of these answers would unsettle the population, some of these answers would make our actions in future harder and (...) some of these answers might lead the source of the information not to provide tips to us anymore."

Also:

Earlier, Germany's Lower Saxony Police Chief Volker Kluwe told the nation's public broadcaster that there was "concrete evidence" that someone planned to set off explosives at the game.

I'm reading tonight that Anonymous has taken out thousands of ISIS Twitter accounts. What I don't understand is why this hasn't already been done by homeland security or some other dept. Why are we just monitoring, at least that's what I assume we are doing? We need to shut down their ability to recruit disenfranchised young men.

Some intellegence agencies are saying taking down their twitter isn't helpful becomes it makes it harder to moniter them. When they are pushed onto the deep web (or whatever the mroe secritive black market internet is called) they are harder to track.

Really? I am not ashamed of anything. I don't think Syrians should be kept out because they are Syrian, I don't think Muslims should be kept out because they are Muslim and I don't think Christians should be kept out because they are Christians.

All I am asking is that they get vetted properly. That's it. I have heard details of the vetting process, it's not very good.

And other feel it will make it much more difficult for ISIS to find the people they recruit as they rely heavily on social media to find the people that are disillusioned.

My unprofessional opinion is that intelligence agencies (around the world) are missing the mark when it comes to technology and tracking terrorists. I know they have been able to stop some attacks, but I think they are missing the mark way too often. They seemed to be totally clueless about these Paris attacks. I don't get how the US misses some of these kids who chat online, come from regular families, and next thing you know they are on a plane to Turkey. I read a story a few months back about a couple school girls from NYC who were being monitored. A good friend had recently been recruited. The FBI sent a note home with the girls to give to their parents letting them know they wanted to talk with their minor children. A note? Really?? Big surprise, but the girls never gave the note to their parents and a few days later they were on their way to train with ISIS. I'm okay with Anonymous messing with them for awhile since intelligence agencies seem to need some help.
