EXPIRED: Part ONE of 2015 CLUB LEVEL (CL) INFORMATION and HELP Thread DO NOT POST HERE!!!

Looking for opinions: we just returned from YC CL. Booked a bounceback for a split stay in Dec: 4 nights CR CL (12-16) then 3 nights YC CL (16-19). Never stayed at CR resort before. But we plan on doing the Christmas party & are looking forward to just walking back to our room & not having to wait on a bus late at night. We had hoped for theme park view, but only standard CL room available with the discount. You can see the park from the lounge anytime of day or night, right? I'm trying to decide if I'll be disappointed with the standard view. The theme park view was available if I had switched our stay around & did YC first. But then we wouldn't have been at CR for our party night & would still be bussing back to our resort. So I prioritized convenience over view. The CM suggested trying to change to theme park view later so I might check now & then.

So thoughts on CR standard view vs. theme park view? Anyone able to get a discounted theme park view room in Dec with a public or AP rate?? Or should I try to drop CL & just get a theme park view? Although we prefer CL rooms, maybe for 4 nights we can get by without? Unless we're blown away by this stay, we probably won't be back to CR for awhile-- we love YC stay there most trips . Thanks!

We absolutely LOVED our lake view room from the CR CL! :) I have some pictures here: https://erika_murphy.silvrback.com/disney-s-contemporary-resort Some of those pics are also on page 1 of this thread. :) We really loved the view, and anytime we wanted to see the castle or watch the fireworks we could easily walk to the lounge. :thumbsup2 The last two trips we've taken down to WDW I've tried to find availability for this room again but no luck yet. I've stayed in a non-CL theme park view room also, which was great too but you're mostly looking at the parking lot all day and the beauty of MK really only comes through at night. Especially the castle dream lights. Having just attended MVMCP a few weeks ago I can tell you you're exactly right about the ease and convenience of walking back to your room. :thumbsup2 I think you've made a fantastic choice!

This may be a very rare opinion, but we've stayed CR CL and I absolutely 100% prefer the "standard" bay lake view there. In fact, if they offered a TPV upgrade there, I'd probably decline it. The view of bay lake is so peaceful and such a wonderful contrast to the hustle and bustle of the other side. We could see epcot in the distance and watch boats float to and fro. If we wanted to see MK, the lounge was always open (even when not serving) and very comfy. I thought the access to both views (one from the room, other from the lounge) was perfect!

Always thought it was funny that TPV at CR is also a parking lot view.

HA! Great minds think alike!!! ;) :goodvibes :thumbsup2 I didn't even read this until after I posted.

I never stayed CL at the Contemporary, but I like the Bay Lake View there in the tower rooms. We really like the water parade.

Thanks for the replies! You have all really reassured me about our CR stay. Now I can just be excited & stop second guessing myself! :goodvibes

We just booked a trip (5/30-6/7) trip and we chose the CR Atrium CL with BLV. The rooms look like they are pretty nice. It's been about 20 years since I stayed at the CR, and I remember that I thought the rooms were pretty roomy.

How are the food offerings at the CR compared to the BC? Are all the CL offerings the same? If I recall correctly, when we stayed at the GF and BC club levels last year the GF seemed to have more options.

There are slight differences, and I would agree a bit more variety. But nothing major. :)

We have not stayed GF CL in a LONG time. Like before I was married because DH is not found out it. However with the Poly construction I got him to cave!!!! I can't find anything on weather you can still get a stocked fridge at GF? Have they stopped doing that?

I haven't stayed at the GF in about two years, I would recommend calling or emailing IPO to get a fast answer to that question. :)

I did but I got the " We have never done that response" So I wanted to try and get a more accurate account.

The IPO staff might not be aware of this option since they don't work in the lounge directly with the food and drinks. Of course it is possible they no longer offer this service. For he/she to say they've "never" stocked a fridge in the 20+ years the resort has been open probably isn't accurate. What type of setup are you wanting? A mini-bar type stocking with alcohol? Or just some soft drinks? You can always grab sodas and things from the lounge and take them to your room. Usually in the mornings when I go get my coffee I will grab a few things to put in our fridge for later. If you personally ask one of the lounge CMs for help gathering drinks I'm sure they would be happy to. Often I will tell them we never get back to the resort until way past 10:00 PM so they'd put things in our fridge for us. I can't think of a time I've been told I couldn't have something I requested. Within reason of course. If you're wanting hard liquor that might be an issue.

Until we get some accurate information I'm going to remove it from the first page. Let me know if you find out more. :)

Really we just wanted water, soda, and milk. I'm sure they will give us some to take back to the room if we ask it was just a nice perk.

Also since its been a while for us at the GF is Sugar loaf all one room category? Did I read right that you have to request lodge tower rooms instead of booking them as a category?

Hi, I asked this over the in the Gf thread but couldn't ever get an answer, does anyone know if at the GF when you book RPC theme park view, is that a garentueesd view of the MK fireworks at night? Or is that something that should still be added on as a request (ie. Request fireworks view) or is just having the RPC theme park view booked enough.

We'd really love to see the fireworks from our room at night and see the castle lit up, so I was hoping I could book a room category that would give us that view. Anyone stayed at GF RPC could share their experience with room views, I'd appreciate it.

I just don't understand why you can't get water! If they give soda, surely a bottle of water shouldn't be that far out of the realm!

It's because too many people abused the service...they'd take a lot of bottles back to their rooms and not use them... granted they could do the same with soda...but I guess it happened more with the water...

They have water but it's by the large bottle served in the lounge...there is usually a small fridge there with cans of soda, etc

Probably because everyone is afraid to make a guarantee. :lmao: But I would say with RPC theme park view you should be able to see a majority of the fireworks. Remember though that when you're at the GF you aren't looking at the fireworks in the same location, they are off to the left sort of near Thunder Mountain. Not directly over the castle like the view from Main Street. The fireworks are actually launched from back behind MK except for the blasts that come from the side of the castle to make the fanned out spray of fireworks, those are shot from a different location. I've only stayed in theme park view RPC one time and my room was directly over Gasparilla's. We could see the fireworks from our room but we were only in our room during Wishes one time the whole week we stayed. Let me see if I can find some photos. :)

Here's a photo I found on a Google image search. This lady took it from her room at the GF. You can see the angle of the fireworks and where they are in comparison to the castle. Of course your perspective could be slightly different if you're at the opposite end of the hallway from where her room was.

I would guess it's because not many people drink soda but every single person of every age drinks water. I've witnessed CMs bring out a case of water bottles and they are gone in 5 seconds, but a full fridge of soda barely had one or two taken from it. But I agree, for the insane amount of money we pay we should get all the water bottles we want. ;)

How about adding a refillable mug station that includes filtered water to the lounge? (Or, better yet, just outside the lounge so that it is available when the lounge is closed.) Then give each person staying CL a resort CL refillable mug?

A nice souvenir, good for the environment and less work for CM's and less cost for Disney? Guests could get all the filtered water they want and take some back to the room.
